Whyte opens door on finances as securitisation confirmed

Craig Whyte laid out Rangers finances in a statement today, released in response to the Daily Record’s series of articles on the club this morning.  Whyte explained Rangers operating costs are around £45m while their income is approximately £35m, adding that the club needs to “live within its means”.

He confirmed the central allegation from the Record, that Rangers have securitised income from future season ticket sales in order to provide money for the club to pay its current costs, while denying they owe £5m VAT.

I have refreshed the page several times since an initially read and see no attempt to address the glaring question, if Rangers are spending tomorrow’s income today, what happens tomorrow?  It beggars belief that someone thought it was a good idea to confirm a fact like without addressing the enormous question now hanging over the club.

Maybe an octopus ate Craig’s homework.

I’ve no idea how much money Rangers have in the bank right now, at this time on transfer deadline day, no one even seems to know if they have sold prize-asset, Jelavic, to Everton, but no matter how much of the securitised income remains, if this is not a dead parrot, it’s in severely poor health.

More power to you, Craig.  I’ll not have a word said against you.

  1. Think I might be looking for a new manager soon…….Sally’s starting to feel the heat.

    Any suggestions on a replacement?

    PLG – was he good?

Last Night I listened to the Radio Snyde phone in. It was remarkable (so many callers were “gutted” that I thought I had tuned into an angling show)

I thought a lorry had shed its load over of wee shiny metallic thingys, right outside my hoose, but here, it was the collective sound of pennys dropping all over Glasgow and Norn iron

Darryl was acting as if he was some sort of defender of truth and justice with the story, even though he may in reality have been the last guy in Glasgow to know the truth

Darryl broadfoot squirmed his way through when asked Why didn’t the press highlight this problem earlier, responding along the lines of – he had already asked Craig Whyte but old Whytey told him it wasn’t true, so he just left it, since he couldn’t call him a liar could he? Sounds a bit like someone Ol’ Whytey was a billionaire. But we don’t know who and printed it anyway.

He followed that up with well you see ahm a sports journo and don’t know anything about business. It did sound partially true, he was a sports journalist who didn’t know anything. Full stop.

It was a great show and I don’t understand why it gets criticised, I listened and loved every minute, even one or two tim callers managed to break through the great wailing wall of hun callers to wind them up, I particularly liked the caller who was suggested Celtic should buy rangers as a feeder team and also use Ibroke as a training pitch since lennoxtown wasn’t so good nowadays

Astonishingly, there are still huns out there who don’t believe that they are on the verge of Admin or Bankruptcy. What do you need to do to convince some people? Hopeless cases indeed. It looks like Daryl Himself didn’t undertand the seriousness until a caller told him a few days ago the tax money must be paid on demand. Very Lazy journalism indeed and unexcusable. Tim callers (if there are any) should put pressure on the journos

Darryl of course aimed one or two snidey shots at bloggers. apparently bloggers didn’t know the true state of RFC problems, but since they were not reportable to anyone they just took a punt, a shot in the dark, if you like and came up trumps.

RTC.com tweeted with “we get too much right too often to be that lucky

Darryl, whose voice was wobbling by this time commented that we wouldn’t like to get things wrong eh not like phil, and anyway didn’t spend all his time on the internet – I wonder how he knew who phil was then? Hmmmm.

All in all an enjoyable way to listen to our rivals implosion gain momentum

Ah canny wait for the Sunday mail hearse and the lead mourner, and if the Sunday mail canny bring themselves to do it, then we should.
