Whyte, Ticketus or their proxy the only show in town

971

Sterling work by Chris McLaughlin at the BBC who brought us the news that Duff and Phelps have rejected a bid for Rangers from Brian Kennedy, the owner English rugby club, Sale Sharks.  Earlier today Kennedy suggested the administrators get their act together and move towards appointing a preferred bidder.

A preferred bidder may now be identified, if not yet publicly announced.

I can imagine the process to whittle bidders down:

‘Tell me, do you own Ibrox Stadium or security and floating charge over it?’

‘No?  Ah, that’s a problem, as we don’t have it either.  Where do you propose to play matches?’

‘Forget that one, someone tipped off St Mirren.’

‘Don’t take that tone with me, we’re doing our best in difficult circumstances and we’ve not been paid a pound.  Yet.’

Craig Whyte controls the security and floating charge over Ibrox.  He provided Ticketus with security for the money they due on the season tickets they purchased, worth in the region of £40m.

Mr Whyte and Ticketus, or a proxy, are the only show in town – and that show is not a CVA.  Everything else is just shooting the breeze at £600 per hour.

I am no apologist for the Procurator Fiscal Office but in both instances how would have looked had they gone to court on the lesser charges.

Remember this case is still not decided.

Would we have been happy with a charge of conspiracy to assault?

Let this run and see if the decision leaves grounds for appeal.

It is still a wee Masonic country.

  3. Bob Dylan – why do people get so worked up about him?

He’s been making music for over 50 years, a few good songs , a few not so good ones, there’s bound to be variations in the quality of his output over time.

It’s not even as if he can actually sing, either.

  4. At the risk of getting up a few noses.

I imagine that a fair number of contributors to this forum would describe themselves as being moderately left wing and subscribing to the notion of a one man one vote, majority rules democracy.

Oddly enough, if this forum is any yardstick, when it comes to the SPL, a fair number of the above, even when it comes to Celtic habitually jumping into bed with the despicable THEM, are quite happy to perpetuate a system whereby around 16% of SPL clubs permanently dictate to the others.

Indeed, a few contributors are happy to latch on to the Gang of Ten epithet. In the SPL whilst there is no coherent Gang of Ten, there is a very focused Gang of Two which currently runs the the show and is hell bent on continuing to do so.

I suppose it depends whether you mean ‘one man one vote’ or ‘one club one vote’.

All clubs are acting in their own interests.

Quonno, if you take into count the customers who pay for the product it will be much greater then 16%. I agree with the idea of an equal split to tv revenue though.

Sorry ain’t got much faith in the publicly justice system.

Sat on a jury where accused walked away because of sloppy procedural work by officers of the court, and later committed a similar life threatening offence when he should have been behind bars and had the key thrown away.

Just like Wilson last year this pair are going to walk after a minimal time behind bars.

As I posted earlier, whole place stinks from top to bottom.

On the face of it a fair enough comment.

However, where would it it leave us as a democracy if voting power is directly related to personal wealth.

Neil Young, leonard Cohen, Lou Reed are all poor singers but neverthless they are all fantastic singer-songwriters.

Even Bowie is no great singer. Don’t think you can hold that against Bob.

No other solo artist comes anywhere near Dylan for consistently brilliant output. You have to remember that he irrevocably & completely revolutionized youth pop culture.

Wasn’t it Springsteen who said: Elvis liberated the chains from the body’s of the young but Dylan liberated the young of their mental chains. Or something to that effect?

…a change of plan. We are not doing the wining and dining at the top table package at Hamilton races on June 7th (Thursday) as originally planned.

We have opted to scum it for the day (the RFC package if you like) and will now just enter the normal enclosures and park ourselves at a table, get drunk, eat burgers and win lots of money.

All are welcome to enjoy us. We did this before at Musselburgh and had a very enjoyable day. It is an afternoon meeting, 7th June, Hamilton park. Entry normally £15 to £18.

I shall post this a few times between now and the day itself.
