Whyte’s proxy set to step forward for acceptance by SFA, SPL

984

When Duff and Phelps put their initial deadline in place for bidders for Rangers back in March, Celtic Quick News took the view that Craig Whyte was the only show in town and that any successful bid for the company’s assets would have to come from him or his proxy.

We didn’t know who his proxy would be then and we are still not sure – although we could have a pretty good guess.

Place the current SPL and SFA dramas aside for a moment.  If a deal is done to allow a Rangers-Newco to apply to play football next season the new ‘owner’ will be a Craig Whyte appointment.

If this unfolds in the days to come, I fully expect the SFA will take a very long time to consider any Fit and Proper questions, and I expect the SPL board will vote 4-1 to allocate a share in the league to the Newco.

Celtic, united with their own fans, and fans of the Gang of 10 clubs stand in one corner.  The boards of the Gang of 10 want Rangers-Newco money too much to object.  Don’t even count on Newco being subject to the penalties discussed at yesterday’s meeting.

A CQN’er is raising funds for the Wellburn Care Home in Dundee.  Run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area.  It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

You can support their work by bidding for a Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

  1. Watching the first half again on CelticTV. There was a period just after the Commons goal where we had (I counted) 26 or 27 consecutive passes mostly within 25 years of Thems goal. The 27th was a cross from Izzy that Goian cleared for a corner. In terms of control that was as good as anything I’ve seen for about a decade.

They’re all making a right erse of this, eh…I cannot believe how naive they all are …… In their utter desperation to dig the bhuns out of their ‘black hole’ they are just making things worse…….do they really think they can ignore the hard facts ……… And they are making the same mistakes with the ‘American Agent Whyte’ ….. These 2 guys are going to walk away with a fortune and leave Scottish Football in the shoite, and all to save a club who have blatantly stuck their 2 fingers up to Football Integrity / Sporting Ethics for 20 years…….wake up now SFA / SPL /MSM before it’s too late ……you really are being silly billies ………don’t let your instinctive loyalties cloud the main issue here ….you know what needs to be done here so JFDI ….THE WORLD IS WATCHING….. DON’T FECK WITH THE HARD NOSED CREDITORS….. THEY WILL JUST COME BACK AND BITE YOU IN THE ERSE….

So, in summary Neil Doncaster and the Mainstream Media are liars and or stupid. I mean how could you consistently report un true statements and present them as fact, even when others have corrected them. Daryl King tonight again re reported Doncaster as being correct in his statement on Crystal Palace.

The huns are now aggresively stating that they would go to Division 3. Through gritted teeth with both fists clenched, as though to purge them of some horrid constipation, they state – send us to division 3 as though some vegenance will later be visited on us.

So, there is no precedent to allow a NEWCO into a league anywhere. There is no precedent to allow the same NEWCO in when the OLDCO were guilty of cheating.

I see there are a number of folks pleading with Celtic to make some sort of official statement. I wonder if now is the time to say anything. I wonder if they have a business case with some firm actual numbers covering a number of scenarios that will not involve Rangers existing in the SPL for at least 3 seasons? Until that type of information becomes availble we are stuck with Daryl Kings reportedly second hand info from an SPL club who apparently would lose a quarter of their support to a boycott but would still be better off having secured Rangers back in the SPL. I really should listen bacl to check the accuracy of that statement but it is likely to be either total tosh or the result of some Rangers friendly chap like Yorkstons back of a fag packet sums.

What is the actual cost to the league if Rangers don’t exist?

Sky will STILL buy some air time. The BBC will STILL want something. Sponsors will still come into play. How much though without the sectarian pound?

How many clubs will actually go bust due to the reduction in income? If they do go bust are they not guilty of mismanaging funds and negligance of very real risks that have been in the public domain for 3 or so years?

if the threat of these clubs going bust is there AND can be proved in real numbers then Celtic should look at proposals to stucture the league in a sustainable manner that will provide longevity for clubs. I assume the great business minds at Celtic have a plan and know what the financial picture surely is?

Could we put the cat among the pigeons and acquiesce to more funding for these clubs in terms of a greater share? It may be worthwhile floating the idea in public to explode some financial myths.

I’ve made similar points to various people in the past about how well we have performed over the years considering the establishment clubs superior resources & of course the highly prejudiced “favours system” of the refereeing/SFA fraternity. We have won against the grain, by swimming against the tide; our wins are so extraordinary because we are victorious even when they stack the odds against us. The great Maley teams, the Lions & O’Neills team won because hun cheating made no real difference. Institutional cheating cannot of course so conspicuous that it becomes obvious.

But circumstances have altered drastically since those dark days: we are now the only giant in Scottish football. The hun demise is like the fall of the Berlin Wall. We are the only Superpower left. Our support has exploded- in Scotland, & of course elsewhere- whilst theirs has contracted drastically; people here & ex-pats overseas are embarrassed to be associated with them. We are by far the richest club. By far the biggest support. The greatest potential of any other club. Yet their traditional links to the corrupt establishment has given them a false status- even now when they are vanishing into the quicksand of oblivion (maybe the harder they struggle the quicker they will vanish)- they have destroyed themselves by funding their “arms race” with us with money that was never theirs…even a Zombie FC will have to accept that they can never compete financially with us ever again.

Not much I can offer on the newco debate that hasn’t already been said, except to say that I think our board are cannier and more closely aligned to our views than many on here believe.

I may be wrong, but some simple analysis would tell any Celtic exec that, unless they’re robust in the strongest terms, and seen to be so, we risk losing everything. I might be proven to be a sucker, but I also happen to think they want to see integrity imposed.

Admittedly, I have nothing to back this up other than gut feel.

A good approach to Sky would be to point out that the Sky name is associated with cheating and lack of integrity.

Journalists from DR etc are broadcasting nightly and quoting a potential drop in their contract with the SPL as the foremost excuse for the widely accepted cheating of Rankers to be excused.

They are long and loudly saying that integrity of scottish football is less important than Sky money.

    What do you mean by

Which Licensing rules apply to Rangers as an SPL club/candidate, UEFA or National Club?

    Can you expand?

    =================

More looking for confirmation of the answer than the answer itself.

    http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/football_document_libraries.cfm?page=2570

” National Club Licensing applies to Scottish FA member clubs and UEFA Club Licensing applies to Scottish Premier League clubs.”

It is pretty clear that SPL clubs are covered by UEFA Club Licensing and not National but it is not as clear as it could be that the rules apply for an SPL Licence and not JUST a License to play in a UEFA competition.

I think it is more than implied, but I always like to know I am looking at the applicable rules.

  22. How can anyone say in all seriousness that the Hun armageddon will destroy Scottish football? If we were to apply scientific principles to that statement we would have to say: we can only know when it happens & from that we can extract reliable assumptions. Its like a scientist saying that there is no point going ahead with an experiment because he already knows the answer. It is just crass. Stupid. Ignorant. The type of deliberate obtuseness we have come to expect from the MSM.

The reason rangers are as good as dead is that they are subject tot he laws of the land. Cheated, caught, busted. If we are not are unable to sue them for the resultant loses due to to association membership, then surely that would imply that an alternative mechanism exists to redress the loss? Especially if it turns out that the association responsible for ensuring that the rules are not breach are culpable by collusion or incompetence?

  27. MedtimMiller’s £11.2million offer was in pole position at the weekend after the Blue Knights and Shale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy were told their bid – reportedly worth £5million – was unlikely to be acceptable to creditors.

is there an opta stats page somewhere for fouls commited : bookings?

his ratio must be about 90:1, or as it’s better known, 1 booking per game!

  30. Just how can the huns be put into division three? The SPL and the SFL are seperate legal structures – and they are not members of the latter. One can’t simply tell the other that it must admit a new member.

The huns will be liquidated. Any new football club that might be formed can apply for the eventual SFL vacancy when it is advertised – and then they will be in competition with any other club that applies.
