Whyte’s proxy set to step forward for acceptance by SFA, SPL

984

When Duff and Phelps put their initial deadline in place for bidders for Rangers back in March, Celtic Quick News took the view that Craig Whyte was the only show in town and that any successful bid for the company’s assets would have to come from him or his proxy.

We didn’t know who his proxy would be then and we are still not sure – although we could have a pretty good guess.

Place the current SPL and SFA dramas aside for a moment.  If a deal is done to allow a Rangers-Newco to apply to play football next season the new ‘owner’ will be a Craig Whyte appointment.

If this unfolds in the days to come, I fully expect the SFA will take a very long time to consider any Fit and Proper questions, and I expect the SPL board will vote 4-1 to allocate a share in the league to the Newco.

Celtic, united with their own fans, and fans of the Gang of 10 clubs stand in one corner.  The boards of the Gang of 10 want Rangers-Newco money too much to object.  Don’t even count on Newco being subject to the penalties discussed at yesterday’s meeting.

A CQN’er is raising funds for the Wellburn Care Home in Dundee.  Run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area.  It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

You can support their work by bidding for a Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

If they are the same club then the transfer embargo must stand should it be upheld.

They cannot have it all ways.

If they are the same club then the tax man’s role will still have to be played out.

If they are the same club they still owe a ton of money to other clubs and businesses.

    Or am I missing something?

There was a call to arms, boycott the away games, the same comments were posted here and on follow follow, no Celtic / rangers team will stand alone in enemy soil…..

We have sat back and said – told you so. If the same passion had been shown on not buying the red tops, not listening to SSB and cancelling sky instead of jelly and ice cream and pages and pages of comments from fans endlessly asking the same questions, which have been answered numerous times, if only they could be bothered to read back a few pages, we might have got somewhere.

They will have no European football for 3 years.

They will be paying all their income over to Ticketus for 3 years at the very least.

They will be leasing back ibrox and Murray Park forever.

They will be paying over all the money from catering forever.

They will probably still have people hounding them for money.

Newco is never-never land. Only a total moron would consider investing in ranjurz. They need so much money that any investor would be better off opening the window and throwing money out of it. Ranjurz dominance was as a result of stolen money, fraud and kidology. If Newco takes over without a break they will have to answer for the registration issue. The only ‘new’ money into Newco will be via a share issue, didn’t work before, won’t work now.

The fact is that ranjurz are going, the administrators are doing their best to prolong the agony in order to get to the end of the season. Craig Whyte has played a blinder, at the fire-sale he will get paid in full, HMRC, Ticketus and all the other creditors will be left to pick the bones. The players who were stupid enough to hang around after Jan/Feb and accept redundancy-lite will be instructing their lawyers to sue whoever advised them.

the only people who will be getting their beaks wet in this mess will be CW, D&P and the lawyers.

Finally, what if more than one group lay claim to the ‘ranjurz heritage’? After all, the corpse is dead and supurating but there’s no will!

  9. How much are Ross County worth? Would this not be the best target for a fully liquidated Newco? Buy them SPL livcense already in place, all debts cleared, move to Ibrox, change name BINGO.

  13. Why don’t Celtic agree to share all TV money equally with the other 11 clubs as long as Newco is not allowed in? Or even share all gate money? I know it would hit us financially but it would remove the main reason for them allowing Newco back in as their income would be higher without them.

Totally agree about sticking together on this , but surely we need some guidance from the club at this point.

As I suggested yesterday Celtic shareholders could have a very important part to play in this soap opera , but for that to happen we need some help from the Club.

We need info from people behind the scenes at the Club , with regards what they want us the supporters to do . And we need pressure applied by people like Brian Quinn , John Reid , Peter Lawell etc to sponsors , TV companies etc .

We need to unite and fight this , there is no other option.

What can be done? I gave up away games and newspapers long before this. I wouldn’t start Sky Sports so I can hardly cancel. If Newco walk right back into the SPL, I won’t be back to watch them. That leaves the question of my season ticket for next season. I can see me changing to the one that excludes Hun games, even if it means moving to the other side of the stadium. If the worst came to the worst, I’d pay in full but not show up. Home domestic cup ties would be out as well. I see this as taking money and kudos away from those who are quite happy to pile unfairness at our doorstep but minimising damage to the team I support. I can’t see me stomaching it for more than a season though. If Celtic couldn’t get us out of what would be a rotten, corrupt competition by then, I couldn’t justify burning my time or money.

I do not see how Celtic can say or do anything at this moment in time.

  19. if the newco route is agreed and they come straight back into the SPL and with err minimal sanctions if any, they could in effect be the only club in the SPL with no debt, despite the fact the oldco (which in effect is the newco) has not only robbed peter to pay paul, but then proceeded to tell paul hes getting nanty….

is that close or am I being too simplistic?

Many Celtic supporters here saying they will withdraw their financial support from their own club by not renewing their season tickets !!

    What is the motivation here?

    Who is it hurting ?

    Who is it helping?

My support for Celtic is not defined by my opinion on the FoD ( or any other team)

When the FoD get back in they will be a wounded animal ( possibly financially constrained because of TicketBus etc)

Why then would Celtic supporters wish to remove our advantage by turning their backs on our team?

I will not be happy if the FoD waltz back in, but will not be surprised.

However I will be renewing my season ticket regardless of what transpires.

  27. I don’t care whether a newco would be strong or weak. Whether it is owned by Bill Miller, Craig Whyte or Uncle Tom Cobbley. Whether it plays in blue and white or white and blue.

If there is a vacancy created by a team goign bust in the SPL that vacancy should be filled by footballing means. It’s as simple as that. The next team in line, Dundee presumably, moves up. Never mind tv deals or revenue or market share. Promotion in football is based on results on the pitch.

No team has ever joined the top flight by any other criterion than points won the season before.

But what to do if the rules are rewritten? If all principles are thrown aside?

We can’t walk away. Why should we as a club suffer for the misdeeds of others? Why should we be the ones to suffer because of blatant gerrymandering?

Iki – sorry for late reply, trying to do a little work ! Your point about not wanting a discussion or argument with anyone because of the arguments you have had/are having with yourself is well understood.

I am simply hoping against hope that the outcome is favourable or, as is more likely, that when the fait accompli is announced Celtic fight the decision with everything they have at their disposal. Not some mealy mouthed complaining in order to shut up the dissenters but a genuine will to do all possible to stop this terrible action.

I suspect it will take a class action of Celtic shareholders before anyone from the SPL/SFA take any notice. We live in hope.

  30. I renewed the season tickets for myself and Mrs RobinBhoy last week. Regardless of the obvious corruption in Scotland, we are stuck with playing here, at least in the short term so I see no benefit, to Celtic, in witholding season ticket money.

Anyway after nearly 25 years in great seats in the main stand in the ES2 area I am very loathe to give them up.
