Whyte’s proxy set to step forward for acceptance by SFA, SPL

984

When Duff and Phelps put their initial deadline in place for bidders for Rangers back in March, Celtic Quick News took the view that Craig Whyte was the only show in town and that any successful bid for the company’s assets would have to come from him or his proxy.

We didn’t know who his proxy would be then and we are still not sure – although we could have a pretty good guess.

Place the current SPL and SFA dramas aside for a moment.  If a deal is done to allow a Rangers-Newco to apply to play football next season the new ‘owner’ will be a Craig Whyte appointment.

If this unfolds in the days to come, I fully expect the SFA will take a very long time to consider any Fit and Proper questions, and I expect the SPL board will vote 4-1 to allocate a share in the league to the Newco.

Celtic, united with their own fans, and fans of the Gang of 10 clubs stand in one corner.  The boards of the Gang of 10 want Rangers-Newco money too much to object.  Don’t even count on Newco being subject to the penalties discussed at yesterday’s meeting.

A CQN’er is raising funds for the Wellburn Care Home in Dundee.  Run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area.  It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

You can support their work by bidding for a Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

Was also impressed with Lustig in first half of game against hearts and he too could adapt to that position on right.

I don’t think there is much to choose between the three of them in the advanced role but I think Matthews is the better defensive player.

I think this could be a great formation for us and has adaptability in that Victor can move up to join a 3 man midfield if needed and full backs can drop deeper.

    Precisely.

With some decent football management they’d be nip and tuck with Celtic as usual, in their first season as a Newco with aid from Thompson Murray Norris et al.

That’s the sickening bit, of any SPL Newco for me.

Let’s tell the world why we will not play in a corrupt set-up.

  4. Celtic Football Club should tell the spl or sfa that we are not going to sign up to SKY, then we will see what happens, play hard ball with them.we in my opinion can manage quite well without sky .and as i said previous i am still renewing my season tkt/

Don’t think there is much difference in O’dea, Dan, Wilson or even loovens.

I think our best centre backs are Mulgrew, Rogne and Wanyama and with Fijout joining in Summer we should be ok in that dept with Wilson still there as cover.

I think Dan and Loovens will leave but if we were getting another centre back, I’d prefer one of a better standard that O’Dea but using Mulgrew as an example, he might come back stronger.

O’Dea wants to leave and he is not part of the manager’s plans. Best for all if he can find a new club.

    Good luck to the boy.

  7. I don’t think any action against our own club is the answer. It will be so counter productive and do THEIR work for them.

I think we should be looking more at what action can be taken against the SFA/SPL and how we can impact them.

So my question is would we as paying season ticket holders be able to sue the SFA/SPL for breach of contract as they are allowing Rankers to break SFA/SPL rules?

We woiuld obviously need to seek proper legal advice here (there might even be some online now) but surely we as fans, and fans of other clubs in the league, pay our hard earned based on the premise that all teams are treated the same and all teams abide by the rules set by the SFA/SPL. So using that premise then surely there should be some legal recourse if these rules are bent or broken.

I know that one legal action might not be that annoying to them but if 50,000+ individuals sued them then it could become more of a problem to them.

In legal fees alone for them it could cripple them.

Just a thought (call it barin storming if you like.. )!

  8. What is happening with regard to McCoists outrageous outburst the other day? Has he been called up yet before the SFA for bringing the game into disrepute and inciting violent conduct? It has all been a bit quiet in that regard.

p.s. I think we are also waiting on the repercussions for the sectarian singing from the Rangers v Kilmarnock game which is a wee while ago now.

Paul, I’d be interested in knowing how you are so certain that this is the PLC’s position in relation to Zombie Rangers. It is pretty clear that, Doncaster was speaking on behalf of the SPL members last night on Shortbread – if he wasn’t, then dissenting members owe it to their supporters to make their position clear.

While I appreciate that you may be right in that Celtic are “keeping their powder dry”, they have, frankly, a bl**dy nerve asking fans to commit to next season while continuing their vow of silence.

Lawwell is a businessman first and foremost. Therefore, I believe when it is time to vote, sporting integrity will come a poor second to commercial gain and he is gambling that the Celtic support will renew their ST’s first, and by the time the vote on Newco comes along, the money will be in the bank. The support will be angry, but in 12 months when renewals come out again, that anger will have dissipated.

How sure are you, that what you are, seemingly, being told by those inside CP, is anything other than platitudes to keep the fans on board.

Haven’t posted in ages, last time I did I said it was more important for me how our board reacted to Newco than where they finally ended up. Despite Paul’s assurances, it disturbs me that Celtic have said nothing. Momentum is building for Rangers and there does not seem to be anyone with any voice leading the opposition camp, step forward Celtic? Fans and fans poll’s are of no concern to the SPL / SFA we are noise level.

Someone (Celtic) needs to raise their heads above the parapet and call out for the correct actions. But will they? no chance…………

I was very much a believer in 3rd Division for them, however after Sunday there is a bit of me that say’s I could really live with hammering a crap Rangers 4 times a year for the foreseeable future?

Anyway, don’t think it will matter what anyone allows them to do, legal issues are so complex and elongated, can’t see how they could play anywhere next season.

Season ticket renewal forms completed and sitting in front of me, I’ve sat in the same seat for 28 Seasons (excluding Hampden) at this stage I have no idea if I will post them.

Yeah – agree Matthews looked steadier. Still, Cha gets lots of crosses in (albeit not not very good ones, but he’s in it to win it). Somebody needs to make that position their own with a few stand-out performances.

Good point about Victor, although I thought he was better against Motherwell – could this be because Cha made himself more available as an out-ball?

I remember reading how O’Neill’s 3-5-2 got ditched when Mcleish sussed it with his 4-3-3 team – also didn’t work so well in European games. Whatever – these formations come and go. Think this one suited Celtic (and the shpae really does take you back to the MON days – sans Henrik, alas!)

  21. There’s a wee team down my way, formed and run by a staunch Irish Celt;the team has Celtic in its name and plays in hoops. So, should the scurrilous lot be allowed to waltz back in to the spl I know where I’ll be going to enjoy a bigot-free game. It all takes place in a local league and there will be plenty of Tims there, and the craic will be grand. Sounds good,eh?

It could be so in a Rankers free Glasgow, which is what I assume anyone sane wishes for.

Rangers newco could play with 11 kids and know that they will never fall to lower than 6th in the league. That’s a nice comfort blanket for them and Sky will be pleased too.

I posted on the last thread that if newhunco were given a 10pt punishment at the start of the league.

It would only take 4 ‘honest mistakes’ to give Celtic a 12pt punishment.

How hard would this corrupt league try to help newhunco win the league while starting with a 10pt penalty just so they could laugh at Celtic.

That’s what my head says to, get them posted. However as someone who paid hard cash (that I didn’t have to begin with) for 2 season tickets ever year, bought shares and suffered through 9 in a row (I can remember saying, that I didn’t think we would see Celtic win the league again in my lifetime – before Fergus came ) I can’t begin to accept that those years of cheating, triumphalism and arrogance will go unpunished, It’s not even the money, It’s the heartache and hurting I endured, for what, ? a bunch of cheats trying every dirty trick in the book to keep on top, and they walk back in? It’s the hurting bit I need to reconcile before I can buy another ticket.

We all know that when comes down to it we will all continueto support Celtic, ie continue to buy season tickets ect.

The thing that we could all do without any difficulty is cancell our subscriptions to Sky/ESPN. There are plenty of streaming sites out there and the quality is getting better all the time, it wouldn’t be to difficult for someone to start a dedicated Celtic steaming site so we could all watch the away games without paying Sky/ESPN.

One of my relations in NZ subscibes to Channel67 and it wouldn’t be hard for him to stream the games via sopcast eg.

Money is the only game in town and only by denying these cretins at the SPL/SFA money, will we make them take note of our concerns.

The thing about our tv deal that has always baffled me is why people in the media etc all spin it as being a great deal? It’s probably 1 of the worst contracts in Europe. Sky/ESPN contribute £16m for live coverage and BBC put in £4m for a highlights package where they show no more than 5min 30secs per game. Now if the highlights can be worth £4 how can you justify only getting a further £16 for all those live games? It just doesn’t make sense.
