Win could see Celtic go top

270

After a long international break, the full Celtic squad resumed training this morning, two days before the visit of Hibernian.  With a depleted Hearts facing Aberdeen at the same time, a win for Celtic could see the champions go top of the table on goal difference.

Aberdeen, in seventh place, are enduring their worst start to a campaign in years.  The contrast between the trauma this has caused in the north east, with the euphoria of the team in sixth place is stark.  But, with the Pittodrie squad is getting back to full strength at the same time as Hearts’ has weakened.  I expect a return to trend at Tynecastle on Saturday.

The next two months will not be easy for Celtic.  With European commitments, we have two games per week, apart from when the majority of the squad away on international duty again next month, but the sight of Celtic at the top of the table will look ominous to the rest of the league, and quieten down some of the manufactured hysteria over our early season dropped points.

Maybe if his team actually tried against the huns they would shift more tickets.

Keep telling us aboot yer holidays. Living vicariously allows those of us who can’t afford to go on holiday a wee break from the montony of “blah blah blah £49 squirrlels in scooby doo jimjams” and the depression imparted upon reading of everyone else’s bookie-skelping exploits.

And if you go to Macy’s, ask them if you get a discount for being Scottish – titter ye not – i did that in Houston, and the assistant gave me a discount after asking which hotel I was staying in…. ?

On the subject of the SFA and taking tickets back from Aberdeen, presumably they’ll do the same to Hearts who, earlier this week, were reported as having done the same as The Dons, and sold tickets in all sections they’d been allocated, rather than block by block.

Not holding my breath on that one though…..?

  7. SFTB – so just 4 years go Dundee Utd were top of the pile. What a decline in such a short period. One of my least-bad Scottish teams too. I’m sure their new manager will be successful and would be great if they swapped places with Dundee at the end of this season.

Aberdeen fans appear to be showing some resistance to the SPFL’s chicanery.

Well whatever resistance Aberdeen fans are showing vis a vis their League Cup semi-final, it is proving to be futile. Ticket allocation taken back, new areas available in the main stand and the relocation of fans who have already bought their tickets.

    bateenbhoy

Hearts FC trying to ensure that some Celtic supporters at least are denied the choice of going to Murrayfield by selling tickets in all the sections that have been made available to them without selling any of the sections out. Maybe Budgie thinks that is acceptable, maybe Celtic do too. It isn’t. Lets see if the SPFL come up with a solution, because we can be sure about one thing, the Celtic Board won’t.

  14. Why would you sell the worst tickets first, for any event? The stupidity of the Muppets who run our game is limitless.

  15. Celtic Mac,

That’s exactly what got the FTSFA whinging about the way Aberdeen had sold their allocation, and why they took them back – so they could flog them to the Huns.

Utter shambles from the governing body ( never heard that sentence before )

I’m sure our Board will be all over it. ????

Yup, Humphrey Lyttleton outft were great. I likes Chris Barber when his good lady Ottilie Paterson sang with them, she had a great voice. I’m right into the original Preservation Hall Band at the moment, some great stuff really and real musicianship.

Lucky me is going to fill my boots over the next wee while. Tonight off to see Maggie Bell with Dave Kelly, next week to see Albert Lee and the week later The Fureys, la dolce vita indeed.

  17. Bada Bing,

I know of a number of Dons fans who aren’t going because of the way the allocation has been mis-managed by the FTSFA ( or the FTSPFL, since it’s their cup ).

Pretty sure they’ll all forgive the Suits if they make it to the final though ?

Me and two buddies; Sparkle A and Casey Jones; Taking in the general low-key hubub of the lisboa backstreets on a beautiful balmy evening, seeing a trickle of Tims begin to arrive for the evening festivities.

Aye. You’d think they’d know that the local comp kids might steal a Mars Bar. The kids at the private school will be scheming to steal the shop, and the company that owns it.
