Win could see Celtic go top

270

After a long international break, the full Celtic squad resumed training this morning, two days before the visit of Hibernian.  With a depleted Hearts facing Aberdeen at the same time, a win for Celtic could see the champions go top of the table on goal difference.

Aberdeen, in seventh place, are enduring their worst start to a campaign in years.  The contrast between the trauma this has caused in the north east, with the euphoria of the team in sixth place is stark.  But, with the Pittodrie squad is getting back to full strength at the same time as Hearts’ has weakened.  I expect a return to trend at Tynecastle on Saturday.

The next two months will not be easy for Celtic.  With European commitments, we have two games per week, apart from when the majority of the squad away on international duty again next month, but the sight of Celtic at the top of the table will look ominous to the rest of the league, and quieten down some of the manufactured hysteria over our early season dropped points.

Doesn’t he have (i) a history of screwing around and getting caught, and (ii) a rather serious gambling problem? I’m thinking it might be number 2. Just speculation.

  3. Good morning friends and a Big Happy Friday from a cloudy but dry East Kilbride. One solitary sleep left until the Battle of The Greens. Tomorrow’s will not be an easy game – remember Hibs’ performances against us last year. Looking fiorward to a good few goals but realise that they might happen at both ends.

Only on CQN would we stick for selling out Celtic park.

Its a shame that alleged Celtic fans cant enjoy our success, well really its to their shame I suppose.

Celtic park is never sold out. Every 2nd or 3rd seat is occupied by a cardboard cut out of an Ex jungle rebel 49er. Handmade by Peter Lawwell

Loved seeing Johnny Doyle in his team’s colours. I’d watched him often enough for Ayr United too,and he was Jock’s biggest-ever signing at £90,000.

Such a tragedy on a personal level to have died so young, leaving a young wife and family.

I have never watched the full game in Seville. While I ” watched” the game on the big screen I asked Mrs GP to tape it for me. I never watched it and technology has now rendered the tape to the bin.

What I have noticed while watching clips in the pub, is the amount of empty seats at the game.

Not that it bothers me after all these years, my memories of “being there” are undiminished. Its on my bucket list to return some day.

One thing is for sure , if we had won I would never had made it back to work on time.

Was it my best season watching Celtic, I honestly don’t know , but I remember the journey implicitly which is more that some seasons where we have won domestic trophies.

I’ve only ever watched the game as it happened, and only seen Henrik’s two goals since in compilations of his greatness!

I can’t bring myself to watch it again,I’ll happily let my bitterness fester and feed on itself. There’s a special place in my own imagination of hell that Dante for all his brilliance could never think of,Andy I’ve got Kenny Clarkin particular for the LC final, plus most of the refs,Tango and Sash, and Mourinho and the worst of his cheats all lined up for it.

The simple answer is that he would be aware of the potential conflict of interest caused by the 9-months flagged pregnancy, and with the help of his responsible employer, would have drafted in a suitable replacement, and also a back-up if required.

People are trying their damnedest to push through a modernisations of an establishment which is close to the hearts of many of us. Times have changed since it’s foundation two millennia ago. It can’t remain st uck in a time warp, and can’t be held back by hidebound tradition(alist)s.

I know a fair amount about married Christian clerics. The one I know best has never let down his family or his congregation in the near 50 years of married life and parenthood. That said, when push came to shove, church duties (especially emergencies) always took precedence over normal family life. So much so that the spouse really needs to having a de facto calling and patience and willingness to sacrifice. In return, the aforementioned cleric would always highlight the amazing foundation that his marriage and family gave to his Faith and ministry.

I’m sorry to say that absolute views such as yours tend often to lead to absolutism. Which ends well for the few but badly for the many.

Fascinating reading about the 12 tribes of Israel.

I had a seriously bad great aunt who left Scotland in the 30s and became nanny to the Rockefellers.

I had to visit her out of duty on my first ??Trip in 89. She was trump on steroids. Espousing her racist pish about WASPs like her being the lost tribe, while black peoples were Ham’s damned descendants….all in the presence of her African American nurse with whom she prayed!

She saw my ears were pierced and hoped I ‘wasnt One of them…’.

She gave me $50 as I left.

I went straight to the nearest sports shop and used it towards a big Boston Celtics ??jacket.

‘It’s what she would have wanted!’ (Kinda!)

Postscript. His first child was born at 11.20pm on a Saturday night in Inverness.

He travelled back through the night to carry out his three services in his parish near Skye the next day.

When he commented to the three spinster wee free great aunts about how beautiful the August moon had been been on surface of Loch Ness, all they could think to do was to chide him from travelling on the sabbath.

No joy at the birth of his first child. No prayers of thanks that their niece was safe. No appreciation of god’s beauty in nature. No recognition of his successful balancing of marriage, parenthood and calling.

Blessed are the non nitpicking Pharisees. For they get the real big picture.
