Celtic will receive £1.65m from the Uefa revenue distribution system for participating in the Champions League play-off round against Helsingborgs. Add to that around £1m gate money and the guarantee of at least three Europa League games, with Uefa distribution money, you can calculate the value of Wednesday’s win over HJK Helsinki as no less than £6m (all figures are net of vat). Quite a prize for one game.
Compare this to the projected income from newco The Rangers, who claimed to have sold 25,000 season tickets. If all sales were at full adult prices (£258 in vat), net income would be £5.375m.
Should Celtic overcome Helsingborgs and reach the Champions League group stage, the club will return to a remarkably strong financial footing.

Good morning!
Another beautiful day!
Quiet night on the blog then?
Good morning fellow Celts mild and dry under greyish skies in Renfrewshire
It was good to see our lads knocking the ball about last night against the current Spanish champions and kinda glad Joe didn’t convert that run and shot as he will have raised enough unwelcome interest in the last few games. He is developing into a great asset and expect lots more from him this season.
We lacked punch up front but we knew about that already eh?
Dylan did very, very well indeed…comfortable on the ball taking players on and generally at ease in a top class footballing environment. The tackle that caused his injury was reckless, at best, and hope we hear good reports on his recover very soon, as he’ll be needed in the forthcoming campaign.
I thought big Kelvin showed some nice touches last night, mentioned to the guy next to me that he was showing encouraging signs of having the pace necessary to play at that level
“i’ve seen milk turn quicker” was the clamped response….
we all see things differently ;-)

Morning all from a glorious North Ayrshire.
Any news on young McGeoch?
PCS
A broken jaw.
Buona Domenica tutti .
The pleasing thing about last night was it looked as though the players/team are learning to keep their shape.
High 80s . Fabulous hailstorm yesterday afternoon. 75 minutes of heavy rain last night . Much needed.
It’s a much fresher world this morning.

Morning folks. Bad news for young Dylan. Looks like he will have a good few months out before he is back playing. Hope we see a lot of him in the second half of the season.

Scottish football seems in rude health without Rangers in the Scottish Premier League and would survive if Sevco were not in Scottish football at all.
However the governing bodies of Scottish football have to be called to account for their complete lack of moral propriety in the forebodings of Armageddon and shoehorning of a dubious commercial entity onto the Scottish lower leagues. Commercial reality may in fact do their job for them, when the entity claiming to be Rangers implodes once again. Until Ogilvie, Regan and Doncaster are removed from their positions the malaise remains in Scottish football and rude health or not our game is endangered.
FF on the grass being long at Peterhead:
“Wouldn’t surprise me if they did it to stop our passing game.”
And on Sandaza blessing himself:
“He is paid to play football , not flaunt his religious beliefs.”
“The problem imo is a football pitch is for football not religion.”
“Ok. So why dont we just go the full hog and get a priest in to do mass before the game?”
“If I played professional football and ran to the 4 corners and shouted “**** the pope” every time I entered the pitch I’d be up on all kinds of charges from every authority, so the crossing of himself shouldn’t be happening.”
“Religion and sport should be kept separate.”
I caught the last few minutes of the hun game in the Crystal Palace. At time up thems were fuming, all storming out cussing under their breaths, one or two giving it tight to McMoist. Meanwhile some young tims at the bar couldnt help show their delight and one asked me if I agreed that this was the most embarrassing day in their lifetimes of watching Oldco-Newco. I paused for a moment, my mind going over the 7-1 humping and the riots of Barcelona and Manchester. Then I agreed with the wee guy….’they’ve surely hit rock bottom now’ I said. But hold on, the EBT case is still to come and if they are stripped of titles? Hmmm, it can get worse yet. Happy days.

MARAKESH EXPRESS 1010
Every penalty they have suffered so far has served only to bring them down a peg,one at a time.
The punishment which they deserve has not, however, gone away.
It has merely been applied stage-by-stage,as their insiders attempt damage limitation.
Death by a thousand cuts.
Marrakesh Express,
If the liquidators of Rangers were to rule the sale of assets to Sevco to be null and void …

I believe Sevco are trying to do a deal with Sports Direct to be the main sellers of their kit, ripping up the JJB deal which still has years left to run.Sevco appear to want the best of both worlds. They wish to be regarded as Oldco without any of the sanctions, punishments and debts that goes with that club. How arrogant are “The People”?This is why being declared a “New Club” is so important, not by us,”Petty Fans” as we’ve been called but by officialdom.Honours lists should start from this year and should be blank at the moment,if not, then the JJB deal still stands as does all the other debt.
Caught the first have of zomie nation fc yesterday . They really are pash even with all their “spl” class players. Broadfoot is struggling at 3rd division level and I hope we get them at CP in one of the cups. They and their zombie followers would be bricking it.
Striker Kevin Kyle reckons Third Division Rangers can heap ridicule on Scottish football by winning a cup final this season. (Various)
Sums up the mindset of a Sevco player..
Driving back from a family do yesterday lunchtime, I had the misfortune to hear various Hun pundits opine,
Sevco to win every game , home and away, in div 3.
Sevco to set a record high for goals scored in div 3.
Sevco to set a record low in goals conceded in div 3.
Dean Shiels is a super footballer.
Some boy from minty park was going to be a superstar.
No wonder the stupid Hun cannot see the on rushing train wreck that is their club when they a fed this pap.
Could the MSM be a double bluff? Could they really be a Timmy conspiracy?

‘Celtic brotherhood against the nazi fascist clan’
Though it’s worth remembering that more Irish went to fight for Franco than against him, largely due to the influence of the Catholic Church.
For those who are interested there’s a good series of radio broadcasts on BBC iPlayer by John Simpson about the journalists who covered the Spanish Civil War.
The comments by Roosevelt about the role of the Catholic Church in influencing American policy towards the conflict are very telling.

Game Set and Match to Mags on the night shift last night.
Our meek and muted acceptance of Sevco into the SFA is an extension of the save our Rangers campaign we have witnessed.
The huns have had a serious slapping with the hose but Celtic have so far proven to have a healthy appettite to resist taking on the hun protection racket. How many times have we read this summer about entry into a new league on CQN ?
Zzzzzzzzz………….
Our ambition is to play in the CL group stages and nothing further. Why ? Cos it would kill of Rangers and leave Celtic in a vacuum with regards to present policies.
Raising our expectations versus being custodial.
Holding position for now.

The JJB deal will end with liquidation.
We need to make sure that Sevco get pumped in the cups (which looks likely) but we have to think about the MIBs who will do their cup games as they won’t be the tolerant of extreme challenges on Sevco players ones who will do their 3rd Division games.
Make no mistake, they’ll get their traditional favoritism in the cup games that they used to enjoy when they were alive as oldco in the SPL.
A game at Celtic Park against Sevco once they’ve lost their only actual defenders (Bocanegra and Goian) will be comedy gold.
Wanna bet they keep on getting HOME ties in both cups while we get more and more away ties?
Celtic haven’t had a home tie in the Scottish cup in who knows how long (not counting the replay against Oldco where it became a “shame game”).

‘Celtic brotherhood against the nazi fascist clan’
———-
Ernie bhoy………”Viva La Quinta Brigada”……One of my favourite Christy Moore songs, about this very subject…..
——-
Around the time I saw the light of morning
A comradeship of heroes was laid
From every corner of the world came sailing
The Fifty International Brigade.
They came to stand beside the Spanish people
To try and stem the rising fascist tide
Franco’s allies were the powerful and wealthy
Frank Ryan’s men came from the other side.
Even the olives were bleeding
As the battle for Madrid it thundered on
Truth and love against the force of evil
Brotherhood against the fascist clan.
Chorus:
Viva la Quinta Brigada,
No Pasaran, the pledge that made them fight
Adelante was the cry around the hillside
Let us all remember them tonight.
Bob Hilliard was a Church of Ireland pastor
Form Killarney across the Pyrenees he came
From Derry came a brave young Christian Brother
And side by side they fought and died in Spain.
Tommy Woods age seventeen died in Cordoba
With Na Fianna he learned to hold his gun
From Dublin to the Villa del Rio
He fought and died beneath the Spanish sun.
(Chorus)
Many Irishmen heard the call of Franco
Joined Hitler and Mussolini too
Propaganda from the pulpit and newspapers
Helped O’Duffy to enlist his crew.
The call came from Maynooth, “support the facists”
The men of cloth had failed yet again
When the Bishops blessed the Blueshirts in Dun Laoghaire
As they sailed beneath the swastika to Spain.
(Chorus)
This song is a tribute to Frank Ryan
Kit Conway and Dinny Coady too
Peter Daly, Charlie Regan and Hugh Bonar
Though many died I can but name a few.
Danny Boyle, Blaser-Brown and Charlie Donnelly
Liam Tumilson and Jim Straney from the Falls
Jack Nalty, Tommy Patton and Frank Conroy
Jim Foley, Tony Fox and Dick O’Neill.
Ernie lynch
Agree. The JJB deal will end with liquidation but so should Oldco.I understand they’ll own the rights to Oldco name and traditions but it still is separate. There must be a clear severing of history or those who’ve lost money, including everyone who lives in the UK,have been ripped off.

lennon’s passion – you’re welcome mate, I’ve only just checked the Ayr results! :-)
I hope the 14/1 shot in the first meant that you were playing with the bookies money the rest of the night. Sounds as if Watts Up Son was unlucky, only beaten by a neck?
Somebody had a winning nap with Forrest Flyer, hope you were on that too.
