Win over HJK worth at least £6m to Celtic

1408

Celtic will receive £1.65m from the Uefa revenue distribution system for participating in the Champions League play-off round against Helsingborgs.  Add to that around £1m gate money and the guarantee of at least three Europa League games, with Uefa distribution money, you can calculate the value of Wednesday’s win over HJK Helsinki as no less than £6m (all figures are net of vat).  Quite a prize for one game.

Compare this to the projected income from newco The Rangers, who claimed to have sold 25,000 season tickets.  If all sales were at full adult prices (£258 in vat), net income would be £5.375m.

Should Celtic overcome Helsingborgs and reach the Champions League group stage, the club will return to a remarkably strong financial footing.

  1. Snake,

As you are probably aware my sense of humour tends to run along non parallel tracks. It picks up on wee phrases, guffaws to itself and then thinks …’now where I can I use that?’

Back a couple of posts you said….”We need to make sure that Sevco get pumped in the cups”.

Sadly the phrase ‘pumped in the cups’ arrived in my brain wrapped in childish sniggering and had me planning its use on my return to the pub in September.

“Bleedin hell pal, you look as if you’ve been getting pumped in the cups all night”

    Thankyou…..Marathon time.

Reading the posts from the Sevco asylum about Sandaza blessing himself, they are absolutely blinded by bigotry, insular muppets, all over the world players bless themselves,in all sports yet they see it as they do,the embarrassment of one trying to compare the going to each corner after scoring shouting about the Pope just absolutely shows you why they were led the merry dance by moonbeams.

..well, beside the canal, rather than actually in it -though I suppose that would kill two birds with one stone

  8. Had to laugh at one of the zombies comment on FF re sandaza blessing himself

“there is no place in football for religion” guessing there are no mirrors in that clowns house.

  9. I love the way that Neil is gently nurturing the young talent such as young James and Dylan … Slowly integrating them ,boys with REAL talent.

What particularly impresses me about how he is doing it is that they come against the likes of ronaldo and co with NO FEAR WHATSOEVER.

It’s like watching a wee army of Neil lennons being assembled he too feared nobody .

James Forrest and Dylan at a premiership club?

In the top 20 youth worldwide to look out for???

How much would those 2 cost us ?

There is no room in football for Anti-Irish racism, singing about child abuse and Nazi salutes but I don’t see the inmates of FF complaining about that.

Imagine moaning about one of your own players blessing himself.

    Sad people.

It’s a personal thing and it makes no difference to the lives of the peepel involved other than they saw it.

So glad they are in the doldrums.

Surely JJB can continue to sell whatever stock they have, I would imagine they could buy in massive stock cheaply and sell cheap. I would be very surprised if sevco make much out of merchandise this season.

If the contract dies with oldco and not transferred to sevco, then it would need to be oldco that terminates it or it will follow its natural course and terminate upon liquidation. I would be surprised if any court would then stop JJB selling stock of a product normally sold under license from a liquidated entity.

Just an opinion of a novice on these things.

Only got 11/1 for first one but yeah played with bookies money all night. Stag do drinking all day and only spent £40 can’t beat it.

One of the troops had £2.50 each way on imperial legend in the last won at 14/1. He didn’t collect it is there any way this could still be collected. He gave me the slip says if I get it cashed I’ve to give the money to charity. Only £50 but it would go to a good cause.

    Funding announced to tackle bigotry

    11/08/2012

Minister for Community Safety and Legal Affairs Roseanna Cunningham today announced funding will be given to two projects working to eradicate bigotry and hatred in Scotland.

The Minister has awarded £116,000 to the Citizen’s Theatre to roll out their highly acclaimed ‘Divided City’ project in South Lanarkshire. The project will work intensively with 40 school pupils to devise a stage play based upon Theresa Breslin’s book, ‘Divided City’.

Workshops for a further 800 school pupils will then be held on the issues raised, with an additional 500 pupils joining the events via the GLOW website.

The Citizen’s Theatre have previously run the Divided City project in Glasgow, where it has been highly praised.

The Minister has also announced £9,000 to the Festival of Spirituality and Peace to run a series of events and subsequent civic cafes on sectarianism as part of the 2012 festival.

Ms Cunningham made the funding announcements as she attended “Scotland’s Apartheid: Can we heal the green and orange sectarian divide?” as part of the Festival of Spirituality and Peace today.

    She said:

“Hatred of any kind has no place in modern Scotland and we need to do everything we can to stop it wherever and whenever it occurs, whilst tackling the root causes.

“We need to develop a broad set of actions to tackle it in different ways across society, from grassroots projects in communities, through to education and other initiatives which address the root causes of sectarianism.

“There is already some fantastic work taking place in communities across the country and we want to build on that success.

“The work the Citizens Theatre are doing working with schools to educate the next generation of young Scots has been widely acclaimed and I am delighted this funding will help roll it out to South Lanarkshire. I hope the same success we’ve seen in Glasgow can be replicated in other areas of Scotland and projects like this are so important.

“Similarly, the funding for the Festival of Spirituality and Peace to run a series of events on sectarianism can help challenge attitudes and send out a strong message that sectarianism is never acceptable, never excusable.

“Sectarianism has ruined the lives of too many people and too many communities for far long enough. Working with organisations and communities across the country, we are determined to take wide-ranging action society to eradicate it once and for all.

“True change will only come about when we all take a stand against sectarianism and do our part in the fight against bigotry and hatred.”

I just heard the Billionaire Boys Club result this morning. I think I’m right in saying Scotland’s newist team are undefeated so far, so credit where it is due. Plucky underdogs and all that.

I hope the Bhoy Dylan McGeouch is alright. I hear he took a loud one.

lennon’s passion – if the bet was placed with one of the main bookies, then it can be collected in any of their shops. If it was one of the small private railside bookies, then I think you’re gubbed. :-(

Might be worth contacting Ayr racecourse to see if there is some way to collect.

  22. Morning all!

I want, nay DEMAND, that we get ‘them’ in both Cup competitions (if they last that long)!

McCoist is untouchable for the MSM. He is a Churchillian figure who has led the orcs through their darkest days.

He could club a baby seal to death and be lauded as the man who saved Scotland’s fish stocks.

Still a crap manager though. Give him that 25yr contract Greeny.
