I don’t recall having seen us win the league against our direct competitors. Has it happened in the last 49 years? Yesterday’s results at Tynecastle and Pittodrie ensures that a point against Aberdeen on Sunday will be enough to confirm Celtic as 5-in-a-row champions. As it stands, a 17 goal win for Aberdeen would put us under pressure for the last two games of the season…..
This will be the fourth time in Scottish football history 5-in-a-row has been achieved and Celtic’s third. The last time we were here, Hay, Gemmell, Murdoch, McNeill, Johnstone, Wallace, Auld and Lennox did a lot of the heavy work, with youngsters like Macari, McGrain and Dalglish on the periphery of the team. It was a team which would soon embark on considerable change, which is at least one thing they have in comment with contemporary Celtic.
Another member of that Celtic team, Charlie Gallagher, left the club exactly 46 years ago today, after an extraordinary decade. Charlie will be on the blog tomorrow evening from around 7pm, to reminisce on that incredible era, answer questions and give an opinion or two. These are always great sessions, tune in and enjoy.
Five years ago today we lost Pablophanque, the first guy who said, “We need to bring Kano home”. Pablo was one of the few who made Celtic Quick News what it became in the early days. He made many friends here, who miss him still, and a profound impact on our community.

Not convinced the gamble to play a less than fully fit Scott Brown was a total success and shows up the dearth of player’s of his type ( whatever you call it ) in our squad. That is despite the overload of midfieders we carry.
The other options of a right sided midfielder were zero, but leftie Johansen has the same drive and combative attributes, but he was preferred further forward by RD.
So Scott Brown’s season is over can you be a good Captain when you are injured, and help the side in a series of games over the winning line? Mibbees aye, but in the semi final at Hampden in isolation? – clearly no.
Scott Brown will be invaluable next season.
Just get him fit and we will see all the energy we have missed recently.
May Day seems to be brightening up, Kelvingrove beckons with the kids, a bit of culture.
Still Sampaoli for me as the next manager.C,mon Celtic, snap him up before he goes to the EPL.Look at the job Pocchetino has done at Southampton and Spurs.
Think out of the box for Gods sake.
” The fact he’s not been 100% fit is undoubtedly a factor in his recent poor form ”
I would say it is a wee bit more than ` a factor` !!

HH from a very sunny but rainy East Lothian, that’s May Day for you !

Not sure what you mean by suggesting that being a celtic fan could harm nicky Byrnes career
Unless Charles greene organised the 500 million bears and bearettes worldwide to organise a boycott
Then the poor fella would probably need a loan/ dig out from his father in law, who doesn’t even have a bank account
CELTIC today announced the further strengthening of their existing partnership with leading company Dafabet, as the company was named a new ‘Main Club Sponsor’.
As part of the new four-year agreement, the Dafabet name will be featured on the front of the club’s shirts from the beginning of season 2016/17.
Dafabet, a leading global betting brand, already has a great relationship with the Club, having entered into a five-year partnership last season by becoming Celtic’s International Betting Partner.
John Cruces, Head of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship at Dafabet, said: “A year ago I said that no matter where in the world you are, you see Celtic shirts such is their tremendous support and fan following. We’re talking about one of the most iconic and recognised shirts in football.
“Now to have Dafabet at the heart of Celtic sponsorship is a milestone event and a very proud moment for us. Having already formed a strong partnership with the club we can only go from strength to strength over the next four years.”
Dimitris Karatzas, Managing Director of Online Betting and Gaming at Dafabet, said: “We continually aim to increase our presence in football and believe we have achieved that aim year on year.
“To now feature on the front of one of the most famous shirts in football, is another huge step forward for us. We are all very much looking forward to the next four seasons in partnership with Celtic FC.”
Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell added: “We are delighted to make this announcement, which is fantastic news for the Club and our supporters and ensures a positive, long-term and high-value partnership for the future.
“We have already enjoyed an excellent relationship with Dafabet and we are delighted they have made such an increased commitment to the Club.
“Celtic continues to be one of the world’s great football clubs and one which is delighted to attract such high-calibre associations. Partnerships such as the one we announce today allow us to look forward with confidence as we ensure Celtic maintains its position as the biggest and best in Scottish football.
“We welcome Dafabet to Celtic as a Main Club Sponsor and very much look forward to working with such a successful organisation over the next four years.”

——————————————————————————————————————-
You are clearly watching a different football player than me. Fit or not, he is brutal and his lack of technique lets him and the team down too often for my liking. If we are relying on SB’s drive and determination then it doesn’t say much for the rest of his teammates. Surely, they must have enough personal drive, determination and energy without having to rely on one other player. If they don’t then why are they wearing the jersey?

There are not many Scott Browns ANYWHERE let alone a replacement in our squad.
re Playing him recently. I am undecided. His presence on the park is very important but that has to be reconsidered ii light of his diminished contribution . A tricky one.

Scott Brown is rubbish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
??:?:?????,.This is the kind of fan we now have supporting Celtic.Dont care if its your opinion, its crap.
Wits@11.06
Wasn’t referring to Nicky Byrnes support of the Tic in particular damaging his career, just a general observation that I like to see people who support Celtic nailing their colours to the mast.
His father in law won that €20k on a horse don’t ya know. Just couldn’t quite recall the name of it ( and threw his PA under the bus in the process).
Obviously wasn’t one of your tips.
HH fhella.
If Broony is to be used sparingly next season, I would have thought a confidence restored Stuart Armstrong would be a natural replacement in the middle of the park. Seems to me that we will not have an obvious choice mid-field next season. The personnel will be determined by many factors ( including injuries!).
So, a possible team for next season:
Gordon
Janko/Lustig Svietchenko Simunovic Tierney
Bitton
Roberts Christie Armstrong (Captain) McGregor
Griffiths
and a VERY strong bench.
Cheerio for now,
JJ

When was the last time PL released a statement on any matter?
With Peter, it really is all about money.
Kristofer Ajer, the forgotten man. A replacement for Brown or another disappointment? Time will tell. Is he any better than Henderson? I doubt it.
DD
Wait till the league is wrapped up and give a feel good factor story ?
Gearoid
All joking aside I am not sure there are too many “celebrity” Celltic fans who pretend not to be
Hasnt done Paulo Nutini,Rod Stewart,Gerard Butler,James McAvoy any harm
Any1 got Ajer stats for the season ?
Forgot all about him to be honest.
Record contract for sponsorship … Surely that doesn’t mean aul pistol Pete is off the hook .
Delaneys you beat me to it. Apparently the deal with dafabet is a great deal for supporters. Why? It’s not like they spend the money on the team. So does that mean we wil now have sponsors on the front and back of the jersey?
How classy.
Thank god Celtic aren’t aelling their souls to the devil eh?
BT
That’s a cert. Are you getting out to play on Saturday?
I think we all knew our captain was brought back way too early and played the rest of the season injured .
Putting his health and reputation at risk is a mark of a captain and whatever anyone else thinks I applaud Scott for his efforts and 5 titles in a row as captain
GEAROID1998
€20k is nothing, mate. I take it the infamous Paddy the Plasterer was involved?
No such shenanigans or tax-avoidance here-in fact a certain Irish billionaire is suing IRS for a rebate!

Was the new sponsorship deal the good news that winnings was talking about?
Of,when I say nothing,I refer to the story which followed.
Not to myself!!!!
Scott Brown.1st pick for every manager he has played under, club and international.
At the last international WGS and Mc Ghee ,a couple of people who know something about football, where gushing in their praise for the Scotland captain.
WGS,Lenny,RD made him captain, and never left him out when fit,yet we are supposed to listen to frankly, know nothings ,telling us all he is rubbish.
Aye right.Hun media would love you.

Was the new sponsorship deal the good news that winnings was talking about?
Why?.Is getting two major sponsors to pump more money into the club for very little, not good news to you?.
Neganon
It’s the way he thinks and if you think I’m a fan of our CEO you are well of the mark
Delaneys knowing DD and PL it would probably be adverts for testing cosmetics on animals.
Great news for supporters indeed.
At least we know pl will make announcements (like you say only when it’s about money).
Scott Brown will be due a testimonial next season. Do they still do testimonials for 10 years?
I certainly hope so, and the ground will be bursting at the seams.
SB has been fantastic for Celtic, utterly fantastic. Yes he’s struggled this season through injury but hasn’t sat back collecting his salary for doing nothing.
Some of the criticism he gets is way over the top. Ten more like him would do me.
He will go down as one of fav celts of the modern era.
Hope he’s around the club for another 10 years in some capacity.
Not wishing to sound even remotely sanctimonious, but it would be nice if we could stop promoting vices.
Vices which I enjoy,of course, but nevertheless we can surely find other sources.
I’ve suggested this one before. Nice wholesome product, lovely corporate colours, and a name which would have hun heids popping all over the place!

* one of MY fav celts I meant to say.

Don’t know what I was reading when I thought you where having a go
Sorry for jumping the gun
Turkeybhoy two things. Firstly they spend as little as possible of this money on the team(I was going to say improving the team but that isn’t a consideration really because that’s just to make money too) and secondly Celtic are a shambles but Lawwell just wants to talk about money.
