Winning against nearest rivals, Charlie Gallagher, Pablo

702

I don’t recall having seen us win the league against our direct competitors. Has it happened in the last 49 years? Yesterday’s results at Tynecastle and Pittodrie ensures that a point against Aberdeen on Sunday will be enough to confirm Celtic as 5-in-a-row champions. As it stands, a 17 goal win for Aberdeen would put us under pressure for the last two games of the season…..

This will be the fourth time in Scottish football history 5-in-a-row has been achieved and Celtic’s third. The last time we were here, Hay, Gemmell, Murdoch, McNeill, Johnstone, Wallace, Auld and Lennox did a lot of the heavy work, with youngsters like Macari, McGrain and Dalglish on the periphery of the team. It was a team which would soon embark on considerable change, which is at least one thing they have in comment with contemporary Celtic.

Another member of that Celtic team, Charlie Gallagher, left the club exactly 46 years ago today, after an extraordinary decade. Charlie will be on the blog tomorrow evening from around 7pm, to reminisce on that incredible era, answer questions and give an opinion or two. These are always great sessions, tune in and enjoy.

Five years ago today we lost Pablophanque, the first guy who said, “We need to bring Kano home”. Pablo was one of the few who made Celtic Quick News what it became in the early days. He made many friends here, who miss him still, and a profound impact on our community.

Broony admitting he’s been injured more or less all season.

    Sorry,that’s not good enough.

Brown and Lustig have been limping around hopelessly chasing shadows for months and we wonder why the useless Sevco beat us?

    There’s yer answer.Shocking.

Michael Stewart, who speaks his mind,I’m fine with that, but why does Michael, have to be critical of Kazim Richards,he scores a good goal against Hearts, then this morning Michael in the Hun ,writing nonsense, seems he is joining the anti Celtic Media, money comes second, supporters don’t matter,Michael stop being personal, about certain players, remember you were one yourself,

What is more shocking is the fact that Scott has been turning out for his country while injured. How can the club allow that to happen?

Didn’t know Lustig was injured although he’s certainly been playing like a crock.

You said he was a player himself, but he wasn’t exactly Iniesta. Washed up and retired at 30. No career honours to speak of.

Turkeybhoy Celtic are more reliant on turnstile fodder than just about any other major club. And the money is not invested in the team. We are told it’s now reinvested in the club. Like big bonuses paid for failure.

It might be “Failure”to a whingeing brat like you to win,I think,11 out of the last 16 League Titles, and thats with the other mob cheating,to do well in Europe around 50% of the time, but it should not to REAL Celtic supporters. We invest plenty of money we can afford into the team.Like every other team on the planet, some wins, some losses.

It shows me your grasp of football economics if you think the “Gate money”goes anywhere near financing a club like Celtic.

More and more are beginning to see you for what you are.A prat with a hatred for PL.It has,if you read your many posts per day, become an unhealthy obsession with you now.A few bottom lickers still pander to your rants, but they are getting fewer.

You,and your kind, are the biggest problem our club has at this time.Real Celtic fans have endured much worse Boards than this. They pass, their time goes, but you want to drag the club into financial ruin for your short sighted view of getting rid of PL.

It will not pass as long as I am on the blog unanswered.

The continuous playing of Brown and Lustig has been truly shocking management.

If Jozo can stay healthy and Boyata can get a good pre-season and regain his confidence, I think they might be a decent pairing for us. Admittedly, those are both big ‘ifs’ a the moment …. but, if so …

I might move Erik into a midfield role (someone recently said that we have been missing a presence in the middle since VW left … I think Erik could give us that… plus, I think he is a smart footballer …

I think a three man midfield is the way to go …. 4312 being preferable to 4231, which left us a bit light in the middle …. and if Biton is allowed to be more of a passer, and less of a defensive mid (which doesn’t seem to be his strength), I think he could do a job for us ….

Still unsure about Armstrong in this role (haven’t seen him in it enough) or the new Norwegian kid (just hav en’t seen him enough.. Period) … but I think there are options …. then, that lets us play the Stuart Allens, and Ryan Christies in more advanced roles …

I think Janko could do the job for us at RB, and I have liked what I have seen of CKR …. not a lot of goals, but there is skill and some smarts there …

I dont think the squad is as bad as some have suggested … unfortunately, RD just wasn’t getting them performanaces out of most of them…. hopefully, the new manager will fare better.

  22. We need a defensive midfielder and a striker, that should be our priority signings this summer and where the bulk of the budget is spent. We will probably need a back up left back and a replacement for Lustig.

We also need a clear out of at least a dozen players, probably more.

So supporting Celtic means you can’t have a critical opinion about any of the club’s players especially the captain. Utter pish

No,you are missing the point.Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion, just as I am when I say your opinion is “Crap”.Forgive me if I take the opinion of every manager, club and International, who have ever managed Broony, and sing his praises over a no mark, like myself, like you.

I think you’re right. The changes do bring through the ‘Bobby Petta’ effect where previously derided Celtic Park boo boy becomes unrecognisable and a first pick. Somebody on the edges will surely be that person.

I too like Bitton and there’s a player in there…somewhere.

Like you I don’t think we need major surgery but an infusion of quality in the right places, ideally down the spine.

Just for fun …. next time Fan-a-tic is on, lets tell him that there is a rumor that NB is to be appointed the new captain! :)

Personally, I think it should be Erik … I really rate KT, but he is young, and I think he should focus on developing as a player … and the captain’s job should be for someone with a bit more experience. And I tend to think that captains should be in a place where they can see and impact all areas of the pitch the most … so, centre mid, or centerbacks preferrably.

Thanks for your sage words. I’ve been doing this 10 years and it never gets any easier..

My club has 3 teams at each age group so any boys leaving A level team can go to B or C level team. Failing that I always try to find an alternative A league team for boys who want to continue at that level.

Number one priority is emotional safeguarding of boys. Ideally they make the choice themselves and it is a consensus decision. Unfortunately it’s never always a consensus. Those are the ones that torture me.

Cheers Bhoys.. Some good food for thought from your advice.
