Winning against nearest rivals, Charlie Gallagher, Pablo

702

I don’t recall having seen us win the league against our direct competitors. Has it happened in the last 49 years? Yesterday’s results at Tynecastle and Pittodrie ensures that a point against Aberdeen on Sunday will be enough to confirm Celtic as 5-in-a-row champions. As it stands, a 17 goal win for Aberdeen would put us under pressure for the last two games of the season…..

This will be the fourth time in Scottish football history 5-in-a-row has been achieved and Celtic’s third. The last time we were here, Hay, Gemmell, Murdoch, McNeill, Johnstone, Wallace, Auld and Lennox did a lot of the heavy work, with youngsters like Macari, McGrain and Dalglish on the periphery of the team. It was a team which would soon embark on considerable change, which is at least one thing they have in comment with contemporary Celtic.

Another member of that Celtic team, Charlie Gallagher, left the club exactly 46 years ago today, after an extraordinary decade. Charlie will be on the blog tomorrow evening from around 7pm, to reminisce on that incredible era, answer questions and give an opinion or two. These are always great sessions, tune in and enjoy.

Five years ago today we lost Pablophanque, the first guy who said, “We need to bring Kano home”. Pablo was one of the few who made Celtic Quick News what it became in the early days. He made many friends here, who miss him still, and a profound impact on our community.

Was I hearing rumours about Oxford or some team like that. A team that do not own the stadium (so no upkeep payments and a lower buying price because of this)

A team who we could buy the license as such and go from there?

    ————-

I only ever heard about Carlisle but plenty of teams ripe for the picking, only problem now with the extra cash injection down there that Championship and League 1 teams are out the picture.

    Never gonna happen though, shame.

Brilliant for the two Celts getting the POTY awards. Will make this a fantastic week for them. Also delighted at wee Paddy saying he would miss out on the Euros to play for Celtic in the qualifiers.I think the boy gets us already.

Need to stop calling him wee mhan 5’9″ and playing for under

12’s, coach played him at centre in a trial game and he scored 5

so he’s main striker now and scoring for fun.

His mate is the same but broader with the stature of Bobby M.

    so high hopes for both.

They took all their old Celtic tops down to training as they are too

small now and we now have most of the lhads running about with

a Celtic top on particularly the yellow away tops which the African

Thank you for your efforts Ronny it’s now time for the custodians to do their part.

    MACJAY

    A excellent suggestion.

  19. Great performance yesterday and like HT was delighted to effectively win No 5 at Swinecastle, playong some lovely football in the process.

I’m really in two kinds about Ronny as we’ve played some great stuff under him, but his naivety in Europe and refusal to resort to plan B at times has been his downfall.

Still think he has the potential to be a top notch coach though, and he’ll learn so much from the last two years that will be invaluable in years to come. Lovely man who totally gets us, and who knows we might be begging him back sometime in the future.

Just a pity that so many have fallen for the so obvious media agenda that has been running for months. Magic hat my arse, can’t wait for next year and neither can fans of the sheep, Hertz, Saints, Murderwell or RC.

    Cannon fodder FC.

Freemasonry has been linked to allegations of a police cover-up concerning the Hillsborough disaster, as a decades-long battle for justice for the families of 96 people who died that fateful day rolls on.

Freemasons’ power and influence in Britain and allegations that Scotland Yard ran a “black propaganda unit” are being probed by two separate criminal inquiries due to come to a close by the end of 2016.

Files relating to a number of key individuals and organizations are currently being scoured for evidence of criminality, including manslaughter and the perversion of the course of justice.

Jon Stoddart, who headed Scotland Yard’s Operation Resolve probe into the planning of the FA Cup semi-final match that left 96 Liverpool FC supporters dead, says scrutiny is being directed at senior ranking officials.

Closely followed by Steven with a ‘v’ McLean and Alan ‘ never saw him punch the ball from 6 yards away’ Muir. Aided and abetted by any of the brethren with a second name for a first name, all furiously warming up for next seasons many glorious gongs (honest mistakes).

    Kris Commons in particular.

Been there and done it all against the hun.

Perhaps Ronny was unaware of that…………………….

I think it was Bamboo who posted the other day about Hillsborough not sitting right with him.

    Nor me either.

The people who lost their lives in Sheffield deserve absolute justice.

What about those who were murdered at the Heysel?

    And they were murdered

What justice did their families get?

Sentences for those involved were utterly laughable.

I think we need a bit of perspective here and dont want to here about whataboutery..

Justice for the 96 and justice for those killed by Liverpool thugs.

    Macjay,

I thought Muir on Saturday was absolutely shocking.

It has become so common now that we almost take it for granted.

    Good goal ruled out.

Would have changed the whole outlook of the game.

We overcome this setback and it becomes forgotten.
