Celtic are on an unaccustomed run of one win (Dundee United) in four games. There were encouragements in the other three matches, but winning is a habit and we need to get back into that mindset as soon as possible.
There are two games before we face Hibernian again, this time in the Scottish Cup quarterfinal, our most important game currently scheduled. Reinvigorated Aberdeen’s visit to Celtic Park tonight is the perfect game to get our processes back on track.
The Dons have won three consecutive games for the first time since before we destroyed them in the League Cup semifinal in November. Wins over Dunfermline, Dundee and Kilmarnock were far from convincing, but the ship is steadied, and as we discussed, habits form.
Our worst fears were confirmed yesterday when Newco appointed Scotland’s other managerial great named Ferguson – Barry – as interim manager. He is the perfect antidote for whatever that last guy was missing. Shouting in a Lanarkshire accent and returning chips to their rightful place as a canteen staple, I think.
Ferguson was one of the best Scottish midfielders of his generation and brought a control to games which cost Celtic on many occasions. As a manager, he has a consistent record. Celtic fans are now split two ways: do we want him to impress, and keep the job next season, or do we want him to lose?
Aye, I know. We’re not really split.

Happy Tuesday and game day all.
Last 24 hours were hilarious.
Banter years never ended it seems.
Wee Barry’s first team talk in Unwanese –
Alright, my merry band , gather ’round for today’s playful ploys!
When we possess the shiny sphere , let’s launch a grand confetti of strikes into the enchanted Killie castle!
When they frolic with the orb , we wiggle our boots and send them on a wild dance until the treasure returns to our grasp!
Fear not the referee , for he sips tea in my whimsical Lodge.
Any curious bees buzzing in your minds?

Wee Barry was in charge of Alloa when they tried to MMA their way to a cup win over us .
I have not forgotten the big black guy’s ( his name escapes me ) assault, that ruined Ideguchi’s Celtic career .

One second of our performance in defeat or in tonights game vs Aberdeen is more important than ongoings elsewhere.
Socially and psychologically we need to walk away from it.
Playing in shit usually ends up covered in it.
Step away from it,not on it
Go to work tonight Celtic
Do your best

The Huns are sure to win the preseason cup this summer, new owners, new board, new manager and a few new players sure to be the next Xavi…
That’s how it will be reported. Brendan will see things differently and will do what he has always done, win.
While Brendan is in our dug out, I have no fears about the rangers overtaking us.
However, I think Brendan will be gone come the summer of 26 and a window of opportunity will at that point open up for the Huns. Our board will need to appoint someone capable of building on Brendan’s work, not running it down and scaling back.
Alas that’s for another day’s debate. Right now, I’ll enjoy every second of Brendan’s stay and the many trophies it will bring us, regardless of what the Huns do.

In England the Refs have ” Smart Watches” that tells them whether the WHOLE Ball has crossed the Goal Line ?
I dont think that the Refs have them in Scotland…or do they ?
Maybe it can be taken further, with Refs using a ” SMART WATCH” that covers the ” WHOLE BY LINE “, which covers the ” Goal Line” from Corner Flag to Corner Flag…If someone can invent such a watch ?
I am sure that someone COULD come up with such a Device ?

Interesting reading back this morning. I have posted before that there was a time that I thought Celtic would never return to the top of Scottish football. I’m sure there a few huns that now think the same of their team. Whether or not they ever get a sound financial base is something we and Celtic can do nothing about so I don’t worry about it.
I think Celtic are in a stunning place at the moment and we have a board that are risk averse ( good or bad is your opinion) and they are unlikely to bankrupt the club any time soon.
Try and enjoy it as it might not last for ever and there’s very little any of us can do to influence it.
Fantastic news about Barry Ferguson. That’s sure to bring us closer to the Bayern Munichs of this world…..

And the huns closer to the Monster Munches of the world..
Whilst this is a Celtic blog, it’s always good business sense to consider the competition.
I’m genuinely surprised with the interim selection the huns have gone for.
I can’t see any reason other than playing to the gallery, pandering to the base elements.
An orange strip kind of appointment.
Seems like a strange move. We will see

Agreed re the pre season cup. Paddy Power may well have paid out already on rangers for that one.
I also agree re 2026 summer being key. Our squad is arguably at peak age this season and not getting younger. We benefited from Reo Daizen AJ Cal CCV and Jota Kuhn all at decent prices. The challenge to refresh at a decent rate without breaking the bank and with no CL guarantee is a big one.
Hopefully achieving CL next season can really provide confidence to refresh invest and go again. Whoever is in charge.
Don’t really see any other way the huns could have went with this interim appointment. There season is done, sacked the hills have Eyes and have no one credible in the frame to replace him. These 4 half-wits are only in the job till May. Hopefully they don’t realise that though and have dreams of being kept on.
Over to you Brendan, their fate is in your hands. Let them get a draw at Snake Mountain

Weirdly it will if Barry can grab a coefficient point for us in their Europa quest.
After unveiling of the Huns new managerial unit, are we sure Patrick Stewart isn’t a fenian agent ?
I’m flabbergasted that in this day and age, some execs still believe a ‘get right intae thum’ mentality is a recipe for restoring the fortunes of a fading football act:
Mourinho must have spat out his Turkish coffee on hearing the news anaw.
While we need to pull our socks up v Aberdeen, I hope Deek McInnes is planning to show the Huns on Wed nite how much of a mistake they made by overlooking him for the The Ragers hotseat.
BTW, just in from watching Nicole Kidman in ‘Babygirl’ at the cinema….
Her performance was littered with several incidents like Daizen’s second goal v the Hibs – the type that got rubbed out !

Above comment not meant to be dismissive in any way of the obvious progress of the team in playing style and structure under AP and now BR.

One win in four? One win, one draw and one defeat in three surely?
Tant Pis. Tonight’s game against Aberdeen will be our eighth match in February, following eight games in January. We are not going to win every game we play, you cant always get what you want (RIP Marianne Faithful) but if you try sometime ye get what we need. And what we need is to get as far away as possible from the idea that the League is won, (Paul67 last week), it isnt, and send a message to the new dream team across the way, that as long as Brendan is around, you are always going to end up simply second best.

I haven’t forgotten him either.
His name is Mouhamed Niang.
And I haven’t forgotten Adam King or referee Don Robertson either.
King fractured Callum’s cheekbone with an assault which would have seen him red carded in Rugby Union.
Cuddly wee Donald thought a free kick was sufficient.
King got off scot free that night and ever since.

I would think that the reason for the interim appointment and the quality of such is related to the possible takeover. No-one worth their salt would want to get involved just now without knowing who they were working for, what their budget will really be etc. Thus the need for an interim, and the pool to choose from would be limited. In the meantime, and probably before the season ticket renewal deadlie, season tickets need to be sold…..
Is there anywhere online that records stats on how many disallowed goals each SPL team has had for and against due to VAR?
It may be bias on my part because I don’t pay much attention to other teams’ games, but Celtic do seem to have rather a lot of disallowed goals… and possibly more so in the CL than the SPL.
There’s been 1 v Hibs, 1 v Bayern Munich and 3 v Young Boys, so that’s 5 in 4½ weeks, and I may have forgotten one or more from the other 6 games during that spell.
Personally I think there should be consideration of whether or not the indiscretion made any difference to the outcome. For example, a shove in the back that prevented a defender from making a clearing header and instead allowed an attacking player to score, would rightfully see a goal chalked off.
But consider Kyogo against Young Boys. In my opinion at least two of his disallowed goals would still have been scored had his starting position been the few inches further back from the marginally offside starting position. If an attacking player’s foot is 3″ offside at the instant the ball is played through, then a yard clear as he hits the shot to score, then clearly starting 3″ further back would still have left him clear to score, so in my opinion the goal should stand. Each case should be reviewed by the VAR bearing this in mind.
Of course, there is also the consideration that VAR is supposed to be there to deal with clear and obvious errors by the on field officials, and where a player is deemed offside (by VAR having not been pulled up by the ref or linesman) pretty much because he didn’t cut his toenails before the match, that is anything but a clear and obvious error, so it shouldn’t even go to VAR.
There was a meeting with supporters groups last couple of days, a couple of the headlines I believe are, digital season tickets within 2 years, hun hordes back at CP,above inflation rise on season ticket prices…..

Aye, Orange Bees.😎
There is no need whatsoever for a greater than inflation rise on ST’s.
You could even argue that with our hugh reserves, gaining increasing corporation tax , that a price freeze could be justified!
PB- absolutely
They’ll justify any price increase they want. You want ‘Brendan type signings’ as referred to on here, then you’ll have to pay for them, including fees and salary.
Simple CSC

I can see where that argument is coming from if each and every transfer window recorded a deficit in trading!
Our salaries seem to be on specific ranges with a ceiling on the top players. Unless of course we raise that ceiling significantly…..anyway aff to plant my plant plugs into containers, all 120 of then. Then tea, 🍷, and the bus 🚌

I’m still waiting for a monthly bill to go up by inflation. Electricity, gas, council tax, home and car insurances have all gone up by more than inflation.
I’m sceptical on government inflation rates, in the real world, costs seem much higher.
