Winning habits, our worst fears across the city

102

Celtic are on an unaccustomed run of one win (Dundee United) in four games.  There were encouragements in the other three matches, but winning is a habit and we need to get back into that mindset as soon as possible.

There are two games before we face Hibernian again, this time in the Scottish Cup quarterfinal, our most important game currently scheduled.  Reinvigorated Aberdeen’s visit to Celtic Park tonight is the perfect game to get our processes back on track.

The Dons have won three consecutive games for the first time since before we destroyed them in the League Cup semifinal in November.  Wins over Dunfermline, Dundee and Kilmarnock were far from convincing, but the ship is steadied, and as we discussed, habits form.

Our worst fears were confirmed yesterday when Newco appointed Scotland’s other managerial great named Ferguson – Barry – as interim manager.  He is the perfect antidote for whatever that last guy was missing.  Shouting in a Lanarkshire accent and returning chips to their rightful place as a canteen staple, I think.

Ferguson was one of the best Scottish midfielders of his generation and brought a control to games which cost Celtic on many occasions.  As a manager, he has a consistent record.  Celtic fans are now split two ways: do we want him to impress, and keep the job next season, or do we want him to lose?

Aye, I know.  We’re not really split.

  1. A price increase would be rampant profiteering by the plc.

Football in Scotland is overpriced. Football at Celtic park is over & over priced.

Sure attendnaces across the leagues are increidble on the per head of population, but when you are cash rich, rolling in it, with all revenue streams UP WHY DO THEY NEED TO CHARGE MORE FOR THE PRODUCT ?

Less wealthy celtic supporting families are being priced out.

I am convinced, the fans survey , if it ever sees the light of day, will be used to justify more corporate hospitality.

    Greedy greedy greedy.

and how much was it for the bayern game ?

  4. I am going to guess that the “activation of season cards” for cup games is an automated piece of software that is as simple as ticking a box on a database.

Quite simply automated by the card holder enetering their own details.

The cost to Celtic plc probably nothing.

This board are accumulating a cash reserve without any obvious spending plans for some of it.

The Green Brigade have issued a major apology to fellow Celtic fans over recent “incidents”.

The Ultras have released a statement after what they describe as behaviour impacting the experience of others in attendance. Several responses to the weighty address have cited matchgoers who were unable to watch the action in the aftermath of the ‘Show Israel The Red Card’ banner at the start of the second half in the Champions League home game against Bayern Munich. They’ve promised to be more mindful and remedy recent actions which have caused an impact to other punters.

A short statement reads: “In recent weeks, we have created incidents at matches that have regrettably impacted the experience of other supporters. These incidents have then been made worse by our poor handling of the situations. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all fans impacted by our conduct. We acknowledge that our support style isn’t to everyone’s preference. Going forward, we will be more mindful of this and be more respectful to other supporters.”

    Not sure what issues…

  16. In life in general I would say that I have a positive outlook but every time Celtic play, I think, ` This could be it. A shock defeat.`

Is that caused by the way Celtic are treated in Scotland?

Or, at least in the way that I perceive us to be treated.

Didn’t know bankrupt Barry was even talking today.

Found a report. These gems caught my eye.

some players may “need an arm around them”, while others may need “a clip around the ear”

“I was straightforward with the players. This is a brilliant place to be. You’re lucky to be here”

    —–

Outdated corporal punishment metaphor with a dollop of supremacism and entitlement.

I’m sure the players – roundly booed off the pitch recently – feel really appreciated and highly motivated as they head home to their houses tonight.

    No such luxury for Barry.

He’ll be heading home to his wife’s house.

  23. For me the only real worry about Barry Ferguson being in charge over there is…

that he’ll send out his team to ‘get in our faces’, ‘be competitive’ ie go over the top and destroy careers like he did in his last game in charge against us.

  24. Wee bit info required bhoys . My nephew is working in Ballymena, is there any safe pubs for him to watch the game .
