Winning Scottish Cup would devastate chasing pack

223

I know Neil Lennon will have only one thought on his mind this week: Thursday’s Europa League second leg against Copenhagen.  Pushing deeper into this tournament is where the money is for Celtic and delivers prestige on the international stage.  But, I could argue that Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarter final is more important.

With the rest of the league now realising Celtic are on their way to nine-in-a-row, the Scottish Cup has taken on enormous importance.  Reaching the quarter finals of the Europa League will put a few million in the bank and earn more coefficient points, but it changes little from a strategic point of view.  Conversely, winning the Scottish Cup for a record fourth successive season would devastate those hoping that the millions spent trying to catch Celtic was not a waste of money.

Trying to catch Celtic is the most expensive indulgence in football, a point we will explore in more detail tomorrow.

still has to be across 2 clubs for the comparison to hold thou….. And they are bound to get lucky at somepoint………………………………….

    ========

Only because they are claiming its the same club…but we know better.

Right now, Chuckles Greens newco have won no major honours! Agree they will probably get lucky at some point, maybe even this season in the cup.

Actually, this season may be their best chance, because who do they get to manage them after Gerrard… it won’t be anyone as high profile or with supposed pulling power for players that Slippy G has… then there will be the necessary budget cuts…

    Ha true.

I read a comment earlier that ‘Rangers should accept £20m for Morelos’ from someone in the media. The problem with accepting fictional bids is that no money appears in your account!

  18. Part of the reply from the BBC to myself re Michael Stewart:

“Following Sportsound on Monday February 3rd we have clearly explained the BBC editorial guidelines around fairness and accuracy to Michael Stewart. We expect our pundits to be forthright, but fair. Michael agrees with this. On that basis Michael is now available for selection for Sportscene and Sportsound.”

    ——————————

    I would

We are Celtic, bigger than any individual

We are also bigger than the Meejah loving “rat” patter.imo that makes our club part of Brendan Rogers history and not what it was

He was part of Celtics history, love or loathe him that won’t change.

Yep he is the man with the career plan,he is in the league he always wanted to be in,I thank him for his part in our history to do anything else is inviting emotion personally into it.We reacted well and have appointed a manager with a more successful win rate.

Oliver kinda reminds of the character ‘Furious’ in one of my favourite movies….

The Bhoys in the Hood. Great cast, Cuba and all.

  22. `Would anybody welcome him back to celebrate the 10?`

Nothing changes the fact that Brendan Rodgers did a really good job at our Club.

If we make it to Ten and if we decide to bring back, to join in the celebrations, all the Managers who contributed, then of course I would welcome him back. I would also welcome Rod Stewart.

  23. Go tell the Spartim on

The BBC wouldnt know fairness and accuracy if it smacked them in the face. Glad he’s considered for selection on their panel now, though i doubt he’ll get any Sevco games, home or away
