With Brendan, there’s a belief

620

‘No one said it was easy.’ How true. When I heard the Celtic line-up I responded, “Would take a 1-0 right now”. No strikers and a new central defensive pairing is not the way to start an important game.

A couple of years ago, you would have an ominous feeling right now, but with Brendan, there’s a belief that we will be prepared in Trondheim. We need to put the ball in the net. Even if we concede first, subsequently putting the ball in the net resolves a lot of issues.

My expectation is that we saw the best of Rosenborg last night. Celtic were clearly well below their best. When the teams meet again Celtic will be one week fitter, and I expect personnel changes.

For so long we missed the kind of football that knots your stomach. This one is hugely important. Enjoy the tension!

    ROI 29

    England 13

We might quibble about rankings but the bottom line is we don’t qualify for tournaments and are underperforming.

Our national stadium is a scandal.

The masonic cartel isn’t fit for purpose.

  2. BeatBhoy, and its worth repeating title stripping isn’t a punishment.

Improperly registered players, 0-3 reverse each and everytime.

    Consequences.

  3. My friends in Celtic,

The Celtic board whatever they may be, are not stupid. They will be aware that the feelings of injustice is widespread amongst our support.

It is in their power to rectify this. To do nothing is not a viable option. Morally or financially .My bet is that they will act due to the implications of the latter.

  4. If, and it is a big IF, Celtic come out with a statement it surely won’t be until after the away game in Norway.

So don’t be surprised if you have to wait until Friday week.

Of course the bigger surprise will be if they say anything at all!!!!

The Board know that, come what may, enough fans will renew their season tickets next season.

They will therefore do and say nothing.

And their apologists will invent ever more ridiculous excuses for the inaction.

Interesting that the SPFL are using the “nothing in the rule book” excuse for their decision.

Maybe they could point out where in the rule book it says you can:

Allow a new club entry to the SPL without having been promoted from SFL1.

Allow a new club entry to SFL1 without having been promoted from SFL2.

Publish an SPL fixture list with 11 clubs and a mysterious “Club 12” (who always seemed to be playing away when Celtic were home and vice-versa).

Allow a season to be extended to favour one club, having allowed that club to postpone a fixture to prepare for a European game earlier that season.

Allow a club to play a fixture with an entire set of players who were contracted to another club.

  9. And transfer titles not won by a club from oldco to newco, some rule book that, you must need xray eyes to see these rules.

Not renewing a ST isnt really taking action, though, is it? Apart from maybe in your own mind, there could be a multidude of reasons why your seat is empty. Or worse still…someone else will grab the ST and no one will ever know the difference.

Taking action, to me, means getting your message out there in the real world.

Too many good points(and a lot of rambling) simply end up getting lost in cyberspace.

The hun forums often state they would rather destroy football in this country than not be top dogs.

Their brethren in blazers behave in exactly that way.

Historically it has always been thus and no surprise to see the decline of Scotland at football.

The constant downplaying of our achievements by authorities and mssm shows their mindset.

Their fawning over the Murray cheating years accelerated the demise.

i am often critical of the Celtic board but they really have an uphill struggle in this sectarian ridden football backwater.

Playing modern football where touch and composure is vital is almost impossible with the tolerance of refs to violent assaults on our players.Last season our players were subjected to tackles that fitted the description of violent assault and would have been subject to red cards in any other league in world football. Some did not even receive yellows.

This is not accidental as the brethren do not like our success and will accept anything that stops it.

The reward for the catastrophic decline and abject failure by the blazers would not have been tolerated in any other country.

Unless there is a cleanout of these sectarian dinosaurs from our game then the decline will continue.

Their preferred outcome of total destruction may come to pass.

Our best hope is a European league to escape this ever declining backwater.

  12. Bateen Bhoy ***STRIP THE TITLES*** on

I believe we’re still waiting for the statement from the club in response to the PSNI claim that they didn’t advise on the non-availability of Windsor Park tickets to Celtic fans. Maybe they’re still trying to find a new ribbon for the club statement typewriter.

I’m not holding my breath waiting for any statement from them about the SPFL / SFA Circus

  13. Not a bad time to remind folk that they can make change happen by completing this survey by SFSA.

    http://scottishfsa.org/have-your-say-now/

I understand the CSA are on board and whilst the SFSA have a broad manifesto that includes good governance they are not blind to the cat that the biggest obstacle to delivering is bad governance.

Its in everyone’s interest to join the SFSA and do the survey. These guys are totally independent of the SFA. Regan was apparently raging at the video at the link.

    That’s good enough for me.

  14. TRADITIONALIST88 on 27TH JULY 2017 4:47 PM

The only action open to fans that will have any effect is to stop the flow of money.

    Which I can’t see happening.

All this talk about judicial review and so on is daft. It will make people feel good to be doing something, and it will give the Club an excuse (albeit a spurious one) to continue with their policy of omerta, but it will come to nothing.

Could there be any truth in the rumour that a rift is developing between our manager and our ceo ? The manager has made it clear he wants to keep Dembele for another season but Peter wants to sell him now Dembele could have played last night but Peter does not wish to risk the player getting a seious injury and does not wish to play the player during the transfer window. If this is the case expect the rift to grow and if we get knocked out of the Champions League look for Brendan to consider his future. This may be a nonsense story but I have heard it twice from two different supporters and it may have legs. H.H.

    Maybe they were English.

I was at the London Olympics and just about the first thing I saw ,after entering the Olympic park, was a very posh middle aged lady covered from head to toe in the aforementioned butchers apron. Made me laugh .

  18. JFH

If Dembele was fit he would have played . Sometimes we just have to block out that kind of nonsense.

  19. Auldheid

Someone posted earlier about the SFSA and that they are not interested in what the SPFL said and want to move on, is that the case? I have done the survey and receive their e-mails.

  20. CLOGHER CELT @4:35 PM,

Proof positive of Scotland’s position in Footballing terms, why are the MSSM, the Government and Football Fans not shouting out for these peoples heads?

    GLASSTWOTHIRDSFULL @4:42 PM,

Absolutely, then look at the changing interpretations of; the Forbidden to Transfer Membership Rule, the registration of Players rule, the UEFA licensing rule, the Player Transfer Embargo Rule, the…..

Funny how it’s one Team (two Clubs) that always seem to benefit from these “different constructions”

    FAN-A-TIC @ 4:49 PM,

I don’t doubt it, it’s amazing how little regard they have for Scottish Football, I know some Rangers fans down here that found a sudden love for Rugby and English Clubs.

I’ll never forget when it really hit home to me. Scotland needed one win to secure a place in the Finals. Smith and McCoist turned their backs on the National Team and went back to Rangers.

Ha! I thought, let’s see what Scotland thinks of these deserters now.

So I got the Daily Record. Ten Pages, front page, back page, eight other pages covered the story, not ONE critical word of “The Dream Team!?”

Rangers are not only more important than the National Team, there more important than Football. It would be a scandal in any other Country.

    AULDHEID @ 4:34 PM,

Did you see my post yesterday and the subsequent link, regarding Rangers bringing the game into disrepute?

Now if we look at that process…

Rangers went into Administration and certain things came to light.

The SFA Set up an LNS Inquiry (not to be confused by the later SPL Commission).

Now the findings of that Inquiry were presented to the SFA Board, who decided there was a Prima Facie case against Whyte and Rangers. The SFA set up a Judicial Panel which charged Whyte and Rangers.

An aside: Interestingly Enuff, the Judicial Panel never used the LNS Inquiry Report, as Rangers pleaded guilty and Whyte never defended the charges, so no evidence was tested.

To the point, why can’t the SFA set up a similar Inquiry into Rangers in the light of new evidence and Supreme Court Ruling?

    Hail Hail

  21. The way i see it is Celtic plc have not acted before so why now. The res.12 bhoys handed them a victory on a plate and did not act.

If we fail in the qualifiers then BR will find out how ruthless the plc. can be, MB,SA and probably LG are gone.

All still to play for hoping BR reverts back to the formation with SC up top.

Some of our best performances were achieved last year without an out and out striker. Hearts away and Patrick Thistle away for example. Main difference is wee Paddy the magician in the false 9′ role bringing others into play and scoring a few himself.

  25. The Celtic board are happy with the way things are. they really don’t lim,e celtic fans buit like the money. Only way to get them to notice is an empty stadium every week

  26. CHAIRBHOY

Compare the differing mssm response and silence from blazers to the almost demise of Celtic and the handwringing and woe to the liquidation of rangers.

Pictures of coffins outside Celtic park.

Apparent glee by mssm and football authorities that the huns only challengers may be gone.

All round outrage and sadness that the huns get liquidated and how bad it was for Scottish football.

  27. PS on the park they are a mess. Celtics whole season depneds on Europe We should have a team ready for qualifiers Everyone klnew our 2 forwarsa re injury prone and we should have 4 centre forwards anyway! At the back we have one decent centre half. But we signed 2 midfielders. Oh and replaced paddy roberts with an Aberdeen player who not once did we ever fear. One long range shot apart. It is too late now.. Attacking out own suporters when it wasn’t required before the most imk portant game didn’t help atmossphere and neither did saying nothing about the corruption bverdict.. Imaginme if they had come out with a statemnet attacking the SPFL stement and board,

  28. JOE FILLIPIS HAIRCUT@5-03PM

  29. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

There is nothing worse than being shafted by the Blazers and the Huns, and for the PLC to do nothing, is a vicious betrayal of all Celtic stand for.

I can only compare the PLC to Dave King and the Huns, same kind of people. In fact, probably loads of old firm handshaking going on behind the scenes.

It really would make you sick, the charlatans we have allowed to run Celtic, have turned out to be cowards of the highest masonic order.

How PL can show his face after bending over for the Blazers, is beyond me.

What a brass neck, seriously, talk about contempt for Celtic supporters.

The PLC are the worst cowards ive ever had the misfortune to clap eyes on.

Sold us out to the Huns.
