Withering in the vine, sin and orange

633

At 21-years-old Tom Rogic should be strongly staking his claim for a central midfield berth at Celtic.  The fact that he’s not is a disappointment to the player, and apparently the nation of Australia.  It’s also a disappointment to you and me.  He has the physique and the passing ability but after some tentatively positive performances last season he hasn’t kicked on as hoped.

There could be lots of reasons for this, it’s not necessarily the ‘fault’ of the player, his ability or the club, but football careers wither on the vine when clubs hoard talent.  If Tom can get some game-time under his belt at Melbourne Victory, and potentially get to Brazil in the summer, we will have a better indication if he is the real deal.

Someone just text me, “Rangers need to be a long-term sustainable business and that’s the bottom line.  The club needs to change”, from that memorable Craig Whyte interview to The Scotsman in 2012. Groundhog Day….

So Fifa presidential candidate, Jerome Champagne, has proposed the introduction of a sin-bin, to be invoked by the referee brandishing an orange card.  What’s your view on this, is there a universal association between sin and orange, or is this another subversive plot by Celtic fans? I have my suspicions.

Believe me mate you memory is wrong on this one, sadly. There were litterally hundreds of bananas being thrown on to the pitch.

There is a source who would be in serious trouble and even danger if ever compromised,we know this.

I think we should all sit back and wait for the inevitable to happen in the first week of February.

As Fergal Sharkey once sang…..it’s Gonna Happen….Happen

  3. The original sadies bhoy,

there were a helluva lot more than one bunch mate.

I seem to remember some “moneky” calls, but not lots.

However as we all know, some memories fade over time so i may be wrong.

The Maestro swivel and pass memories do not though

    What Philbhoy and Bawsman said.

Also sometimes people buy a share and intend to ride out the paper losses if they truly believe they will rise but then something comes up and they have to liquidate assets even at a loss.

Maybe the Easedales have realised the mistake they made and are now pulling out. Could be anything to be honest. If anybody invested in RFC shares at 70p thinking there was a big profit on the way, then they need their access to a share account removed. I would be amazed if these ever got past launch price again.

  5. “moneky”???

no need for a correction though methinks.

    Bad enough recalling said events.

There was a lot of racist stuff getting directed at Walters. There were several heated exchanges in The Jungle because of it, and by the time the match was about 20 minutes in most of the abuse had stopped.

On the plus side, the overwhelming majority of our fans and Celtic FC took a strong stance on the matter from the off. That is why it never happened again.

My apologies. I would have been in the Stand. I have no memory of that but I don’t want to be a revisionist. Others above agree with you. A black day for us indeed. I thought we were being stitched up by a particular rag.

Yeah I was in the jungle the time Walters got pelted with bananas.

It was a total disgrace but it was also a one-off happening.

I think the vast majority of our fans never behaved like that again.

Unlike the huns with the Bobo abuse which went on for a few years.

Saw Eusabio playing against Rangers back in the 60’s and he took heavy abuse from the hun. He stopped playing and told them to cool it.

I sincerely hope none of their shareholders are dumb enough to swap shares back and forth in a manner which may be perceived to be rigging the market.

  13. Im a bit of a revisionist myself….some others, have been claiming that there was once a club called rakers or something similar….but I don’t know what they are on about, cause I can only remember Glasgow Celtic.

They must be making it up:)

I only seem to remember them being thrown from the Jungle, I actually don’t remember much of the racist chanting but that did take place as I spoke to my uncle years later about it and he mentioned it.

Some in the support did try to get it stopped, I remember a guy in front of us slapping another guy and a fight almost breaking out.

I was glad the club came out against it but sadly our reputation had suffered

    ALLEGEDLY!!!!!!!!

If say spivs just pass the same shares about between themselves they can panic others into moves they would not normally make and furthermore manipulate the share price.

With spivs nothing is ever as clear as it seems and the mob that have got their teeth into sevco seem very very very good at what they do(IMHO) of course
