Words are easy, so are actions

848

After yesterday’s discussion on values, what we’re all about and where we’re going, today’s announcement by the Foundation that they will have a badge day at the Dundee United game on 11 May is something that requires us to step forward and do something about.

“Volunteers will be in place at all turnstile areas and supporters will be asked to make a donation of minimum £1 in return for a badge, which illustrates the new Celtic FC Foundation crest.  All monies raised on the day will support our work challenging homelessness in the Glasgow area.”

I’m going to volunteer.  You should too.  It will mean getting to the game a wee bit earlier but it will also mean you can look those values we all preach in the eye.  Words are easy but on this occasion, so are actions.  Let’s do it.

I’ll find out how you volunteer and report back soon.

I guess it wouldn’t take much to bankrupt them if they cant even give them away.

I’ve no proof that the Celtic board do not wish the return of any Rangers ASAP. That makes me sad cause it could be easy for them to disprove.

  8. Come September I will be sitting beside Rosa Parkes at the front of the bus…..,and voting YES

Only exit polls matter ……the rest is just disinformation by the organs of state……

Just an opinion though …………Celtic will still struggle with falling attendances, selling players, inability to compete seriously at CL level……football it’s why we are on here right? :)

  12. The Ridsdale-Bates legacy at Leeds continues.

Leeds Utd announce losses of 9.5m for year 2012-13 and the convicted businessman from Sardinia, Massimo Cellino, now owns 75% of the shares having has won his appeal against the Football League’s disqualification of his proposed ownership.

It would be wrong to suggest that things for Leeds can only get better according to this para from Wikipedia.

“Cellino was arrested in February 2013 with the mayor of Quartu Sant’Elena, Mauro Contini, and the public works commissioner Stefano Lilliu, for attempted embezzlement and fraudulent misrepresentation following an investigation into the construction of the Stadio Is Arenas ( home ground of Cagliari which is owned by Cellino). Cellino was held in custody for over two weeks, in a case which remains unresolved.

Cellino’s arrest warrant called him a man of “marked criminal tendencies…capable of using every kind of deception to achieve his ends”.

Cellino has two prior criminal convictions, for deceiving the Italian Ministry of Agriculture out of £7.5m in 1996 and for false accounting at Cagliari in 2001.”

“marked criminal tendencies…capable of using every kind of deception to achieve his ends”

    Sounds familiar.

Ironic considering the growing anti-rag feeling among the support,do they have something on someone at CP? If ever the time was right for the Club to embrace new media, and even a TV & Radio station,it’s now IMO.They must realise a lot of the grass roots Celtic support come on to blogs like this ,for info and debate (not Yes/No please :)).Any costs could easily be recouped via advertising, and Club Shop ,tours, tickets would probably get a spike too.

  18. Don’t be so po- faced SFTB. Being silly is not so bad from time to time. Try it. Take care.

  19. Right! A sly football question.

Should we petition whichever government is in charge to allow Celtic to hire players from Brazil who are not established internationalists?

Clubs in Eastern Europe, Portugal and Apoel Nicosia have used this to great effect to strengthen their club sides. We are allowed to buy non-internationalists from English clubs and some of these were very successful for us.

However, Shakter Donetsk, Braga, Benfica and Apoel have made great use of this market.

We have bought poorly, or been scammed, as I would assert in the case of Rafael Scheidt, in the Brazilian market. Even when we get a decent player, like Juninho, we could not use him well within our pattern of play.

Any player in the Brazilian squad for this summer is out of our reach. But there are uncapped gems there if our employment laws allowed.

All good ideas of course, WC was talking the other day about making efforts to get Celtic supporters away from the MSM, so a Celtic produced alternative would be welcome.

Some would mistrust that more than the MSM though. What is it some call The Celtic View? Pravda?

    _______

I think it’s more to do with the club being a PLC with the removal of the Rags not being in the best interest of shareholders, with board members living in the belief that if they were to ban all Rags from Celtic Park then they would write nothing but negative stories about the club______________<<<<<<but that's all they do!

I am pretty sure we could make a good case as to why a media ban would be in the best interest of the shareholders. They over us nothing (unless you include them sh*tting all over us) but take everything, the p*ss n'all.

  25. Relax SFTB. We agree on the yes vote.

Back to football for my last point. You make an interesting point SFTB but the problem is that Celtic would still be outbid by Shaktar and debt ridden Benfica. Also Porto and Portugal will always be a more popular destination for obvious reasons. Lastly, even non international Brazilians cqn cost a fortune. Still, we could get one or two. That petition could be useful.
