World class deficit of self-awareness

1194

The word of the day is anosognosia, def. a deficit of self-awareness.

While discussing his Fit and Proper examination by the SFA, Dave King told the media that “If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

It was Dave King’s job to examine Craig Whyte’s Fit and Proper status, not the SFAs!!!  Dave King was on the board which approved Whyte’s takeover.  The SFA were not and should not have been involved in determining the suitability of Whyte’s appointment, which was the exclusive responsibility of the Rangers board.

The SFA subsequently sanctioned the club for failing to carry out its duty in this respect.

Let’s look at that quote again and allocate responsibility:

“If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte [by me, when it was my job to do so]then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

There is no Fit and Proper test.  Criteria are published to allow clubs to determine the suitability of appointments.  Whyte did not meet the suitability required.  If anyone on the Rangers board had taken the trouble to check Whyte’s credentials (which they had a fiduciary and SFA obligation to do so), and informed the SFA of their findings, Craig Whyte would have been stopped in his tracks.

A note to my friends in the media:

Guys, ignoring stuff like this is why people said you were compliant with Whyte, Green and Murray.  Don’t come back a year from now and say you didn’t know.

Dave King is a gift.  You know what he’s going to do, you know how this ends.

Walk for Tony

As most of you will know, RWE lost his son, Tony Conway, earlier this year to MND.  12 of Tony’s friends are walking 100km tomorrow and Sunday, from London to Brighton.  If any CQN’ers are local, they’re looking for moral support more than money, so here’s the route they’re taking.  They start on Twickenham Road at 9:40 tomorrow morning, hoping to reach Brighton around 7:00 on Sunday.

Tony appears to have inspired a lot of people, which is a none too shabby legacy.

It’s season ticket Deadline Day!!

Watched the 5-2 Youth game ( thanks for the link) and was impressed by Luke Donnelly67. In some ways, it was like watching a younger version of the first team. Pretty reassuring.

Agree. The boy is good, a big, physical presence up front but quick in the turn and with clever feet.

I don’t know and I couldn’t give a toss, but weren’t you looking for me a couple of days ago?

    What was that about?

  4. Natknow,

Come on, SA are now watching every move he makes, Scotland have given him free reign to do what he pleases and the higher up the ladder he gets the more he can do with plaudits.

Enjoy your weekend. Celtic getting the league trophy. I love it.

  11. ht,

The relevance of my last bit was, if you wanted to know about res12 why didn’t you ask at the meeting what the board were doing and what they thought ?

Irrespective of what we are doing the board have all the evidence available and as far as we are concerned its water tight however, involving professionals is expensive, not that it wasn’t expected but the board know/knew this so in their wisdom told us to peruse it alone, the reason for the secrecy as you well know, has always been the same, it was at the request of the board a decision I now regret but we don’t go back on our word.

Was the meeting not about all things Celtic, is res12 no about Celtic ?

  12. RWE:

They are , nummy can I go, rip offs.

Why can’t Celtic just grow their own a la 67?

  13. Meetings…..?

    Petitions…..?

    Chit-chats….?

    What a waste of time…….fmm.

The jugular vein approach is long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long….over-due.

Who do Celtic supporters pay their money to…..the board.

Who are the board in bed with…..the establishment.

So, why be so consistently styoooopit…?

This time of year is when the Celtic fans have ‘ALL’ the clout

coz, the board want yer money.

When you give them your money, you become a hostage to fate…what with

a board who take yer money….then sell you out!

    Are Celtic supporters, really sado-masochists….?

Then why do you do what you do….then, find that you’ve nowhere to turn when, it becomes apparent that the fix is in…?

I’ve said for years on here now that….maybe, the died(LOL) huns, winning a League title assisted by mibbery and the huns wrecking CP – the stadium that ‘YOU’ paid for – with, the board that you gave all yer money to…looking the other way?

I dont want to see it, no Celtic supporter wants to see it but….maybe what I have described above is required as a doze of medicine for the massive amount of ‘blind-mice’ amongst the Celtic support….if that’s what it takes well…..

That’s one of the reasons I’m thinking he needs a laundrette?

  16. Croppybhoy with all due respect you are missing the point I think.

PL and DD believe in the old firm. They think it’s good for business. They think the bigotry is good for business and they are willing to gamble on that at the cost of any ethical thoughts the support may have. Hence they say nothing. Hence they collude (are you denying that they were aware of the 5 way agreement) hence the guff about 10m a year, hence DDs gushing praise of them, hence player after player being trotted out to declare their love.

I’m afraid those that run Celtic do not share any of the ethos you state in your post (and whic I believe in too).

I’m sure, pretty sure, that the boardroom discussion at CP would be that the fans will soon forget it all when distracted by the hate fest of old firm rivalry. And that any fans perceptive enough to be unhappy can be discarded.

Those in the board don’t love the Celtic support. They just love your money.

As for the club doing nothing wrong? They did nothing and didn’t try to change anything. You cite appeasment for fear of bullying and intimidation. That would be cowardly would it not. Their inaction is their collusion for the reasons mentioned above.

And who is saying anything about leaving. Speaking up and demanding change is not the same as leaving. It’s about fighting for your rights. But as I said rights at Celtic is only about who has the right to get our money.

As for not being a supporter if I don’t buy a season ticket? None sense. Does that make everyone who boycotted in the early 90s lessor of a Celtic supporter? Of course not. I believe that I am taking action that ultimately may help the club because we need. Those who run Celtic to share our ethos and our vision. That simply isn’t the case at the moment.

I was in there a few weeks ago! That’s the first I’ve been there for a wee while – I’m closer to Queens St. most of the time. But went down to Leith for a change and had some food and a few (quite a few) nips. That branch has been there for years. My first encounter was when I lived in Leith when I was a student. Me and a mate stole a catering boc of cornflakes from their kitchen. I’m no longer allowed to do that now I’m a member. Happy memories! :-))
