Worth keeping an eye on our nearest competitors tonight

82

When you are winning and playing well, two games a week seems less of a burden.  Celtic players will race out the Dens Park tunnel tonight desperate to get the game underway.  Some, like Ryan Christie, will have an even greater appetite.

This fixture is the last of Dundee’s first round of games.  They lost to all other teams, apart from Hamilton Accies, who capitulated last month, to give then-manager, Neil McCann, a false dawn.  It is Jim McIntyre’s job to pick up the pieces left by McCann, but his two weeks in charge have seen the loss of seven goals without reply.  These are tense times for Dundee fans.

What the home team have in their favour tonight is the chance to throw off the weight of expectation and defend their hill of dust.  It is an unencumbered liberation they have not experienced all season.

Brendan Rodgers will do well to remind his players that the single point that separates Dundee from second bottom St Mirren was won against Celtic, soon after the appointment of their new manager.  The odds against an upset are great, but this is still football.

It is worth keeping an eye on our nearest competitors tonight.  If Celtic win and Kilmarnock do not do likewise, we will go second in the table.  A win for Hibs at Hearts could also present Celtic with the chance to go top on Saturday.  But that’s getting ahead of ourselves.  Let’s take care of Dundee first.

Limited edition Celtic Legends Jersey, available from the Celtic Former Players’ Association web site.  Love the memory walk through the names, especially Alfie Conn!

  1. THE EXILED TIM on 31ST OCTOBER 2018 1:04 PM

    Auldheid

We knew about Ogilvie’s involvement before the huns were sold, it’s not a matter of guessing, he administered the EBT’s when he was at the huns, it’s a matter of record, the fact we didn’t know he himself had one till after his re election is neither here nor there.

    =====================

The original point I was responding to was about Ogilvie being elected President of the SFA. That happened in June 2011.

Rangers were sold to CW on 6th May 2012 in the following year.

Knowledge of the use of side letters with EBTS came out in March 2012 see

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2115140/Rangers-crisis-David-Murray-wrong–Hugh-Adam.html

and Ogilvie admitted he had an ebt at the same time.

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9144140/Campbell-Ogilvie-admits-he-was-aware-of-Rangers-EBT-scheme-but-had-no-role-in-player-contracts.html

So in the context of Celtic failing to stop Ogilvie being elected in June 2011, there simply was no hard basis for challenging him.

None of this affects your general point about it being a fix since then. Its just that claims against Celtic that cannot be supported by facts, remove credibility of those claiming. I’m not pointing out the sequence to prove you wrong but to make sure that the narrative based on facts is accurate, because any inaccuracy can become a deflection point and undermines the case.

If you want to read a fact backed narrative then try this one at SFM

https://www.sfm.scot/jpp-perverting-justice/ and the one it refers to at E Tims

    http://etims.net/?p=13042

What both demonstrate is how the Judicial Panel Protocol (JPP) introduced by Regan at same time Ogilvie was elected in June 2011 was used to prevent justice.

That same Protocol currently governs how Res12 is being addressed, but it simply is not fit for the purpose of investigating the UEFA 2011 licence.

If that point about the flaw in the JPP and the implications of it don’t dawn on Celtic and fellow SPFL clubs then football, as a sport in Scotland, will die from the toxicity the clubs themselves allowed to be introduced in 2012/2013 under the 5 Way and LNS Commission.

But as long as folk accept the game is entertainment disguised as sport ,and continue to roll up at £49 a go (c) KevJungle in some cases, why should others care?

  5. I really am at a loss, maybe , I’m thick or something, maybe i’ve missed something. Hopefully, those wise owls on here can set me straight.

We know and have proof of the cheating etc , re EBT’s (and all of Scottish Football does) and all that, and so does our board of directors, yeah?

Why then, has nothing been done, nothing. We bump our respective gums and moan about it continually, still nothing gets done.

Always one for lateral thinking, do “they” have something on us which makes us keep our heads below the parapet, or what? What on earth is preventing us, sure beats the crap out of me.
