There are two ways you can announce a shirt sponsor deal, one like it’s “worth up to £10m over three years”, or one like “worth £10m over three years”. Some commercial deals in football are performance related. If you win the league, qualify for the Champions League group stages, or even Europa League group stages, the value of the deal increases due to the added exposure and brand-related coverage.
Celtic will get nothing for winning the league, because that factor is already built into expectations. They will, however, earn commercial bonuses for Champions League qualification.
Newco’s reported three year kit deal is the “worth up to” variety. Bonuses will be dependent on winning the league, qualifying for the Europa League and Champions League group stages. Who knows, Dave King might come across with the money needed to get there…………
Less than three hours to go!

Connaire 12,
Imo, John Clark made a unique contribution to an essentially attacking team. He was our only out and out defender. And, bhoy, could he defend. He read the game so well; sometimes, I think, he made Big Billy. He always seems to have been in the right place at the right time to break down an opposition attack. Quiet class and quality personified.
DD,
good afternoon to you too sir but just to be clear its the wee one doing the deed. ;)
Quiz locked and ready just for you. Hoping to break the 20 barrier,,18 last week.
Hail Hail
Ole Luggy would get a nose bleed if he crossed the half way line.

Melbourne Mick good afternoon to you, giving you advance notice that Mrs Hebcelt and I will be paying you a visit by the end of the year and thank you for the kindness you showed to our daughter when she was out there all these months ago. We are both retiring in the next few months and have some bucket list items to tick off.The “Ghan” from Darwin to Adelaide features highly but unsure – any suggestions/comment and a visit to Mornington where Marsaili spent many happy months. I know its early days but look forward to seeing you and “the Oz bhoys”. Hail Hail Hebcelt

The time I met John Clark and his wife was hillwalking up the Campsies. I addressed him as Mr Clark and thanked him for Lisbon and 9 in a row. He said, “Call me John, thanks to guys like you and your dad for paying my wages and giving me a good life. The pleasure of playing for you guys was all mine.” That humble man, truly humbled me that day up the Campsies. I knew I was in the presence of greatness. Wonderful

My Father did mention seeing JC over there, that’s the old boys favourite place and indeed his last resting place:))
I think he knew John from Holytown, my father worked down there if I remember correctly in the Metravics (spelling) factory..
I always make the effort to go to the Grotto any time I’m home, a very special place to me and my family.

Starry Plough @ 4:12pm,
The youngest two kids school is right across the road and as its in my Parish, I almost take The Grotto for granted.
Definitely shouldn’t though, as it is indeed a special place.
A true place of Peace and Tranquility.
HAIL! HAIL!

Met & spoke with John Clark in 2013 while at Celtic Park.
I had a Celtic strip that I wanted to be autographed by players etc.
I had all the usual suspects and as I waited outside te changing rooms at CP I saw John Clark just going about his business as kitman, while all around him it was chaos as players posed for photographs etc.
I walked over and asked him if he wouldn’t mind signing it for me. He looked at me for a a second or tow then, looking away he said “Are you sure you want my signature?”
I replied that he was one of my heroes & that I was at the 1965 Cup Final at Hampden.
He actually smiled, but tried hard to hide it. Then he signed the strip.
Overwhelmed by his modesty & class.
HH
DD you have just confirmed what I already thought about the quiet man that is John Clark a humble gentleman. As my auld mammy used to say manners and humility cost nothing.
Hope everything goes ok tomorrow Garry, will be thinking about you.

Over on Follow Follow, there’s a thread about a big crane that has appeared over the Sandy Jardine stand. At least they retain their sense of humour:
“I’ve just went past Ibrox on the train and I could see a massive crane at the Sandy Jardine stand
Anyone any idea what’s going on ?”
“Peter crouch has just signed and is taking a selfie.”
“Trying to lift Murty’s mood after Sunday’s shambles.”
“They’re installing the giant “HUMMEL IBROX STADIUM” sign. Apparently you can see it from space.”
“If we get beat on Sunday apparently we are charging a tenner to jump from the top of the fucking thing
They will raise more money doing this than they would with a share scheme.”
WEEFRATHETIM if you are lurking, I think you said you were going in for an operation tomorrow???
If so all the best, I will say a wee prayer tonight for you.
Hail Hail

Still waiting on the Compliance Officer.
Another whitewash on the cards like the LNS Investigation ?
My mum was just in touch with me about my big cousin, Iain Armstrong, who has lived most of his life in Canada. He was attacked in a mall in Edmonton on Wed while trying to prevent a robbery and is now in a critical condition.
https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/man-seriously-injured-in-violent-mall-attack-identified-1.3890708
My mum’s family originally grew up in Townhead, Coatbridge (under the name Bushe). His mum’s name was Oonagh Bushe in case anyone remembers them.
When you read the story, it raises a big question on whether trying to do the right thing, the thing that your instinct is telling you to do, is worth the potential cost to you and your family.
Here’s praying that he makes a good recovery.
Stay strong big man!
