‘Worth up to’ kit deals

428

There are two ways you can announce a shirt sponsor deal, one like it’s “worth up to £10m over three years”, or one like “worth £10m over three years”.  Some commercial deals in football are performance related.  If you win the league, qualify for the Champions League group stages, or even Europa League group stages, the value of the deal increases due to the added exposure and brand-related coverage.

Celtic will get nothing for winning the league, because that factor is already built into expectations.  They will, however, earn commercial bonuses for Champions League qualification.

Newco’s reported three year kit deal is the “worth up to” variety.  Bonuses will be dependent on winning the league, qualifying for the Europa League and Champions League group stages.  Who knows, Dave King might come across with the money needed to get there…………

  1. Began to listen to the radio again this week for some post dinner entertainment. The dish washer will now remain redundant for the foreseeable, as I greedily collect dishes to clean, luxuriating in McIntyre’s pain on Radio Scotland. He’s now on night 4 of his post mortem. It’s highly entertaining and my kitchen is sparkling.

No point having a post mortem on zombies Kenny!

  3. I couldn’t care less what Lee McCulloch or any other sevco apologist calls us. Their desire to remain relevant is laughable and their compliant media have only harmed them further.

  4. FRITZSONG ,if what your saying is correct and ive no reason to believe that it is not, very disappointed about that, being from glenboig met yogi many times as a kid, and loved the way he played, my old grandad would be turning in his grave, he adored john yogi hughes.hh.

Their desperation for relevance is proving highly entertaining. It’s really peaked this week. They used to annoy me but now I just find it funny.

Tims are arriving from South Africa, Australia, Canada, France and Ireland today, to give praise to their granny Flo.

A proper wee Celtic supporter was Florence. Never made an enemy in her 97 years on earth. Her hero was Jesus Christ and Jock Stein. Love was her guide.

  11. John Clark.

I’ve posted this before but since watching his, smashing video, i feel I have to tell the story again.

My daughter done her work experience at Celtic Park in 2003.

John Clark was a total gent and really looked after her. He was brilliant with her.

He asked her who her favourites were Shaun Maloney, then Lenny.

It was an international week, most of the players were away but Lenny had retired from international duty. He arranged for her to go and meet

him after training. Lenny sent her to get a KFC for them for lunch. When she returned it was her Lenny and Henrik joined them, how cool is that, all sorted by J.C. Lenny did say that under no circumstances was she to tell Martin O’Neill that he’d had a KFC because Martin would probably fine him. When Shaun returned from U21international duty, John arranged for her to meet him too. He said that Martin was not in the best of moods, but Shaun kindly arranged to meet her in the Celtic shop.

Finally it was,a couple of months before my 40th, so she asked John could he get all the players to sign a birthday card for me. she told him that Big Rab Douglas wasn’t my favourite, so it didn’t matter if he didn’t sign it.

I received a card with all the players autographs except Big Rabs. Seemingly J.C went into the changing room asked them all to sign, but with typical football humour, said to Rab, don’t you bother he thinks you’re hopeless. The dressing room was in stitches, I hope I don’t meet Rab, he will cement me. :-)

Anyway, all that kindness and more from a Lisbon Lion and club legend. John Clark. What a book that man could write. A true Celt, through and through.

    Hail Hail.

As I said, I really admire Brogan etc’s pieces on here. But I thought the John Hughes article yesterday was unfair. I’ve listened to Yogi talk several times and BRT&H’s verdict seem out of sync with reality. Incidentally, big John told a packed Greenock CSC a few years back that not once in his entire Celtic career had he received any coaching.

John Clark’s brilliance as a player pales into insignificance compared to his brilliance as a man.

Must have missed it, glad they arrived and they are Ok.

    They sure are different :-)

Been having mega bother sending stuff to Canada lately, never been the same since the postal dispute a while back, folks saying there packages haven’t arrived, if they are tracked it’s no problem, but untracked, I have added Canada to my tracked only list, sad that it has come to this, I lose out cos of the extra shipping costs and the customer loses out.
