Peter Lawwell told Sky Sports he’ll not be rushed into making an appointment. Football goes on holiday for the next few weeks as players, managers and (under normal circumstances) CEOs kick back before minds turn to preseason and transfers. Even if Celtic appoint a manager tomorrow, his plans for next season will progress little in the immediate future, but the task is being addressed with some urgency.
The best insight I can offer is that the bookies and media know Sweet Fanny Ally about what is going on. Know that when Celtic start to talk to a candidate, the first thing they will insist on is radio silence, so if the aspiring manager is talking to a jouno, chances are he’s not talking to Celtic. The club will attempt to do as much work below radar as possible, but between now and the day of an appointment, newspapers will splash their latest ‘favourite’ to get the job over their covers in an attempt to get you buy. You’d be better picking your own candidates and writing your own headlines.
I’m going to wallow a bit in European glory tonight. All those photos of the Lions back in Lisbon has been inspiring. What great man, what a great history they’ve given us.

We are good enough to hold our own in the CL.
We are not good enough to overcome bad luck — against the best bad luck means gubbed.
You say most CL games last season — I agree.
First 75 minutes at ACM was the best away performance for quite a few years.
Once KC got up to speed he started to run the show.
Then came the luck element and we took a sore one.
So it’s Stevie Clarke….?
glasgowbhoy,
STV HD is 178 on SKY.
Well said Phil

Boyce knows we are going to kill them just like their zombie cousins and he can’t wait
Money means nothing to Cliftonville players it’s all about the club the shirt and the community – Linfield are nothing
Think Jim Craig could cost us tomorrow but big Tam will have a stormer. Also that Milan mob don’t have a Jinky.

I’m up for that.
Just received the Tommy Gemmell book, signed by tommy to my good friend who is retiring.
This might sound a bit sad… I know he will burst Into tears when I give him it…that’s the Celtic way, it’s in the heart.
Winning captains… A big thank you from me. HH
It’s clear that the only way we can beat Inter is to be cautious. Sit in and try to hit them on the break. If we go all out attack they will murder us. My fear is that Jock sets us up to play all out attack with the full backs bombing on and we get caught out at the back.

So long as Celtic don’t give away an early goal. If they do that it’ll be all over.
If we go behind tomorrow Paul will need to upgrade the server to cope with all the ‘get rid of Stein, the board, half the players,’ comments
The Comfortable Collective,
And we need to watch the tackles. That mob will go down at the least bit of contact.
Winning captains,
TG book arrived, personal inscription “we won the big cup and we brought it back”. Waiting on another one.

Corkcelt comments re J’on quality
Corkcelt
Latest tallies SF Dublin 24%, Midlands/NW 15%, South 17% North top poll. 4 European seats 3 definite.
SF largest party on Dublin, Cork,Derry and Belfast councils.
As one esteemed poster put on here last week when he equated Republicanism with bigotry lasts an awful lot of bigots.
HH Corkcelt.
Thats
I’ve got it on good authority that Jock Stein is going to resign after tomorrow’s game regardless of the result due to interference from the board and disagreements about transfer budgets for next season.
Any thoughts on who his replacement will be?
KOJO
Only problem with generalising is that it tends to weaken your case if the exceptions don’t come into the ‘odd’ category.
Jupp Heynckes (would make a great Director of Football for a young coach to lean on), was sacked by Real Madrid, and went on to lift the European Cup with Bayern.
Vicente del Bosque was binned by Real Madrid, and went on to lead Spain to the European Championship and World Cup.
Our very own GLC, Big Billy, failed in England. Had Celtic followed your advice, had it been offered, back in 1987, we’d probably not look back so fondly on our Centenary year.
Worth thinking about, at least?
Still think we can win this tomorrow against all odds. History is against us as no none Latin team has won the big cup.
But we are Celtic, history makers.
Believe.

See my post at 14:48 :))
till later all
See if Celtic win the cup tomorrow does that mean we’ll get an easy first round tie in next years cup?
Richest game in the world is dire. 2 very poor teams.
Please can we desist with this Celtic took a chance with a rookie manager garbage. He saved their backsides due to their infamous inability to recruit. Millions they poured away under Tony Mowbary their choice. Exact same as the dream team. Luckily for them we pay for those double digit in the miilions mistakes that they continually make but the board worshipers never want to talk about. Neil Lennons appointment was a fait a compli they had nowhere else to go and no money left within their own limited budget.
Celtic PLC has been on this course “so as to attract investment”
Where is this investment ? Ten years and counting.
When is it going to come in ?
We cant even attract a sponsor for the league ? the cup ?

Damn day before the final and Peter has sold jinky and bobby and billy and given big jock no money to buy the replacements but peter just bought new Aston Martin just like 007
Ah well look forward to the balance sheet in the evening citizen :)
Celtic should win the big cup tomorrow,
I can’t believe I can write, I was only born in November…
Awe naw. What millions spent by TM
Think you are forgetting the January fire sale. We took in about 4m while 5 points behind the deid team
Lenny was an exceptionally lucky break for Celtic.. We were not batting away quality candidates, not could we have afforded to pay any at the time.
We are in a different boat this time. We have money and the likelihood of success for the foreseeable future.
What we don’t have is the kind of budget that decent managers are used to .
We will either get an up and coming manager or one who needs a quick fix reputation salvage.
I think Stevie Clark or Malky McKay likely… Jackie Mac left Celtic under a cloud and knows their penny pinching ways so I’d be quite surprised if he were appointed but not shocked ..

We compenasted WBA with a 6 figure sum for starters and finished off paying up Tony’s contract a la king Kenny.

“There is not a prouder man on God’s Earth than me at this moment. Winning was important, aye, but it was the way that we have won that has filled me with satisfaction. We did it by playing football. Pure, beautiful, inventive football. There was not a negative thought in our heads. Inter played right into our hands; it’s so sad to see such gifted players shackled by a system that restricts their freedom to think and to act. Our fans would never accept that sort of sterile approach. Our objective is always to try to win with style.”
Jock Stein, 1967

I’m sure we put Mogga on gardening leave saving a fair bit of cash when he took another job
If somebody said the next manager was Davie Moyes,14 months ago,you would have got locked up.Best candidate for me.
Winning Captains – received the Tommy Gemmell book this morning.
Thanks to yourself, TG and the Lions. They gave us something that I’ll treasure until I draw my last breath.
