SHIN YAMADA is expected to be on the way to Glasgow this week to seal his move to Celtic now his international duties are over for the summer.
The £1.3million-rated Kawasaki Frontale striker was an unused substitute as Japan beat South Korea 1-0 to win the East Asian Cup, according to local media Sportstar.
Now the way is clear for Yamada to become Brendan Rodgers’ sixth summer signings with formalities of a final personal terms and a medical to be completed before he can join countryman Hayato Inamura as the Hoops’ latest recruitment from the J-League.

ON THE MOVE…the way is clear for striker Shin Yamada to join Celtic.
Fellow-Japanese Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda, preparing for tonight’s friendly against Sporting Lisbon in the Algarve, are already key men in the champions’ set-up.
Twenty-five-year-old Yamada first came to the Parkhead club’s notice when he scored 19 league goals in 31 appearances in 2023/24. However, there was no rush to sign the forward with Kyogo Furuhashi, Ange Postecoglou’s £4.6million signing from Vissel Kobe in July 2021, the team’s main hitman.
However, the search for a long-term replacement for the one-time fans’ favourite, who left for Rennes in a £10million switch in January, has now been stepped up with the Frontale raider back in focus.
The proposed deal, with both clubs already agreeing on terms, could be pushed through before the weekend.
