‘YOU ARE GOING TO THINK I AM SILLY,’ ADMITS NANCY

WILFRIED NANCY faced a barrage of abuse from raging Celtic fans as he lost his fourth game in a row as the champions collapsed 2-1 to Dundee United at Tannadice last night.

The Frenchman, who was appointed manager a fortnight ago, watched another x-certificate display to follow the 2-1 debut loss to Hearts in the Premiership, the 3-0 flop against AS Roma in the Europa League and the 3-1 reverse in the Premier Sports League Cup Final against St Mirren on Sunday.

Nancy admitted the supporters were entitled to vent their fury at him – but insisted he is still the right man for the job.

TAYSIDE TORTURE…Wilfried Nancy watches another horror show.

Daizen Maeda had given the visitors an early lead in a first-half that was littered with astonishing misses from Johnny Kenny before Jim Goodwin’s side fought back after the interval with quickfire strikes from Krisztian Keresztes and Zac Sapsford.

Maeda had the opportunity to head in the equaliser, but he topped anything Kenny could do by thumping as effort against the post from two yards when it looked impossible to miss a gaping goal.

The away support were united in their condemnation of the new gaffer and he admitted: “I heard it and obviously it’s not nice to hear that.

“But I can understand their frustration, too. It’s new for me, too, to lose four games in a row. It’s something new for the players and something we don’t want.

“We don’t have a lot of time to work. You are going to think I am silly, but I see a lot of improvement.

HAND IT TO HIM…Wilfried Nancy finds something to applaud.

“I can see improvement every day. In terms of results, I can understand why the fans are upset.”

Nancy, speaking to Sky Sports, added: “We had a lot of chances in the first-half, we had clear tap-ins and couldn’t score.

“If you don’t, then the game isn’t over.

“I’m disappointed for the players because I felt we played a really good game.

“We improve, improve, improve – and then suddenly, boom, we concede two goals.

“We deserved to win, but didn’t.”

Next up for Nancy and his players is the visit of Aberdeen at Parkhead on Sunday. It won’t be dull.
