You did this

470

This year some of your money went to Whizz-Kidz, who help some of the estimated 70,000 children in the UK waiting for the right wheelchair.  They not only provide equipment and life skills, but also offer support to young people.  Take a look at this video to find out the kind of way your cash has changed a life:

We’ve just sent off money to Action on Depression, a Scottish charity working with some of the 10% of the population who suffer from this illness at some point in their lives.  Like all of the recipients of your money this year, there is a feeling that we provided no more than a drop in the ocean of what is required, but with depression we felt that bringing the subject out into the open was as important as the money donated.

This illness can do enormous damage lurking in the shadows, let’s kick it into the light.

Many of you will remember the Martin Chamber Ecuador Trust.  Fr Martin left Scotland some years ago to help some of the most deprived people on earth.  In his words, this is why we helped:

“I would say that people should care about the poor people of Ecuador firstly because they are our brothers and sisters.  On top of that their needs are great: they have no running water, no proper sanitation, no sewerage system and poor electricity.  They have little access to education or to medical care and they are crammed together in bamboo huts – mile upon mile of houses, millions of people living below the poverty line.  That’s why people should care.”

You gave to the Ronnie Coyle Benefit Trust, sadly, Ronnie is no longer with us, you donated to the Aberdour PTA, from the Fife village that hosts our summer get-together, and you gave a donation to The Haven, who help people with life limiting illness from Glasgow and Lanarkshire.  Their story is available in a short video here, take a look at what your money is doing.

All in I’d say you did very well.  Very well indeed.  Have a great Christmas, you deserve it.

After the game yesterday i was on the same flight home with Pat Fenlon and Kenny Shiels. Kenny Shiels as always was complimentary about the hoops, but i had to disagree when he thought that they deserved the draw and they let themselves down with bad defending. He also rates Aluko and see’s him as their best hope for wednesday. Right im away for my dinner, Hail Hail

Just off to open the Wine (try not to post when partaking) when thoughts turned to CQN, funny that and amazing just how much of an influence in our thoughts these days – a truly wonderful site. Just like to wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a treble for the Celtic in the New Year.

Same mate, all the best to you and yours…

  14. Just been looking back after a great Christmas day and it is a joy to read such an upbeat blog and wonderful cameraderie between Celtic fans the world over. Yes, there were one or two who tried to lower the tone, but that is always the way. You know who you are.

Really looking forward to Wednesday (Thursday morning).

I enjoyed the snippets from FF. They really are scared of Celtic Park on 28th. I also noticed that not one mentioned Craig Whyte, yet almost to a man, Coisty is getting dog’s abuse. They just don’t get it, do they?

I really do find it hard to hate McCoist. I spent a wee bit of time with him when he was a player and he was a gem of a guy.

However, when we beat his hammer throwers on Wednesday, I will, like every other Tim, savour his pain. He is the manager of Rangers. that says it all for me. All’s fair in love and war.

After the year that was 2011, I will be very happy to see in 2012, and find hate too strong an emotion to entertain in my psyche right now. But as I say, that will not stop me enjoying a victory on Thursday morning, with every ounce of my being.

Hail Hail and Merry Christmas to every Tim. No conditions from me in that sentiment, unlike another so-called Tim.

  15. Paul67 great article but may I add that Celticquicknews readers helped bring Pablophanque (Steven Reynolds) body home from Holland so that he could be buried by his loving family and friends, the same Celticquicknews helped Daniel (Ton Che Dan) and Lyndsey when they’re twins were born 4 months premature and sadly losses wee Cian, his twin brother is doing grand and looking forward to joining you all at Celtic Park.

Paul Brennan without Celticquicknews none of that would have happened, YOU did this Paul67 and deserve all the plaudits.

I hope you and the family have a great Christmas.

    Vinny

    HH to ye!

  16. As if its necessary, read some of the goodwill messages on here and contrast and compare with this Christmas ditty posted on FF.

    they are indeed the people

Yesterday, he nipped and nipped during the game,he couldn’t contain himself any longer when Goian got sent off,Mrs new Cumnock Loyal then asked “what team do you support” “every B_____D who plays Rangers” was the answer. This proved too much for Mr New Cumnock Loyal who promptly had him by the throat. Timmy said “I am glad you did that you are going to jail” I couldn’t stand any more, and said2 if he does you are going to the Royal” Mrs marshall appeared and ejected him, and peace reigned once more in Glasgow.

Previous blog. I have a fridge magnet that says “Miracles happen to those who believe in them.”

Miracles are happening every day, but go unnoticed because they happen in slow motion in relative terms. Pauls blog for today is an example.

I sometimes wonder if Jesus really fed 5000 at one sitting or 100 a day over 50 days, but the time frame got lost in the telling.

Anyhoo a great uplifting post for today.

    Merry Christmas.

  24. Merry Xmas to Paul, all Celtic people and other non orcs around the world. This is a great site.
