You did this in 2015

535

This year you made connections with new people. In the first half of the year you connected with 1226 pupils at Chibwata Primary School, Dowa, Central Malawi, who eat in a school kitchen you paid Mary’s Meals to build. This is it:
Chibwata sign 400

Chibwata internal 400

Two months ago you connected with the 1292 pupils at Kholoni Primary School, Mchinji, Central Malawi, who also eat at a school kitchen you paid Mary’s Meals to build. Here it is:
Kholoni internal kids 400
Kholoni internal cooking 400
Kholoni sign 400

There is now around 4000 kids attending schools in Malawi with kitchens you paid for. Not only are they being fed, they are being educated in greater numbers than ever – enrolment is up around 30% after the kitchens go up. This gives them better life chances. Some will graduate from subsistence living to a life with opportunities.

Villages with better education facilities become more productive and wealthier, as do districts and countries. Across Mary’s Meals 1m plus daily meals, this will provide a significant lift to the drive away from absolute poverty for decades to come.

These are big numbers but the detail is always more revealing. Magners offer us a pair of premium seat tickets for most home games. When we run these competitions dozens of you click to donate to Mary’s Meals, putting food in the larders of school kitchens.

Then there are the regular donations to the Celtic FC Foundation. Celtic work with those who have fallen through the cracks in the UK, Ireland and the developing world. They feed the homeless in Glasgow, make facilities available to kids with autism, and generally go around like a green and white caped crusader. You have always responded to the call.

I get to see lots of this in action, there are small causes too numerous to mention, helped more often than not from people who don’t want you to know what they’ve done. There have been 100 stories in 2015 which will never be written, but will live as private anecdotes, or as kitchens in Africa, or winter clothing for refugees in Serbia.  Celtic fans have been doing this for 128 years, each act is a commemoration of what started it all back in 1887.

I’ve met hundreds of CQN’ers but yet to meet one I didn’t like. Even the raging lunatics online (you know who you are!) are actually very decent people when you get them away from the keyboard. On behalf of the thousands you’ve helped this year, thank you very much.  I’m sure Brother Walfrid would be very proud of you.

Have a great Christmas, you deserve it.

Odd statement from the deadly bears:

Is that them repaying the repayment that they repayed before?

    or

is that them repaying the repayment that they told a wee porkie about having repayed before?

    or

is that them telling another wee porkie about repaying the repayment that they told a wee porkie about repaying before?

  2. Apologies to CQN for using this comments slot to park a comment made on the latest JJ Blog Comments section in response to possibility of English media involvement in SFA affairs, but I’d hate it not to get past moderation and have to retype here.

So sorry, but thanks for indulging me (you might find what is said of interest too)

    JJ Blog Comment.

    Alfie Birches

The English media have had both the LNS and Res12 detailed narratives since Aug and only other priorities and unwillingness to prejudice upcoming trials has stopped them using it so far, but they know the background.

Two well known Scottish outlets asked for and have had the LNS narrative drawn from the Scottish Football Monitor series of blogs for the last 8 weeks or so. Confidentiality was promised so no names no pack drill but so far nothing published.

The narrative on both LNS and Res12 is evidence based, much more detailed than anything in the public eye so far and more accurate in parts than published here (but the inaccuracies do not impact on the general thrust of the JJ blogs touching on both, which is welcome in terms of raising awareness )

Significantly no journos who have seen the evidence based narrative on LNS have refuted it but more significantly none have published the story.

The SPFL have taken no action on LNS following letters from SFM to their lawyers in 2014 and passed the ball to the SFA who too have done nothing.

The SFA’s attention was drawn to failings in the UEFA 2011 licence process in Aug 2014 and they appear to have done nothing since then. They are still being pursued for answers under Res12.

The English media will pick up on the narrative which they were not willing to do before because of questions of the provenance of the evidence.

That provenance reason, which stopped Ch4 blowing the whistle in 2013, will fall with the upcoming trials and Ch4, along with other English media outlets already have the research from a reputable source, who would not have used it if it did not stand up, to give the English media quite a head start.

That detailed narrative itself awaits the court cases for fear of prejudicing them (a fear JJ should perhaps consider more) before it too gets published, so it’s only a matter of time before the public know what has taken place.

If it all comes out by April with ST’S due for renewal, what should have been done from 2011 will have to be done, although it would be better for our game here if it were done because it is the right thing to do rather than under duress.

  5. Thanks for sharing this update Paul. This is why like countless thousands of others, I support this magnificent Club. Celtic, a club for all with no boundaries. Winning on the pitch will always be important, but the fact that we continue to win off the pitch in reaching out to those many millions less fortunate than ourselves, gives me an equal buzz.

Merry Christmas to you, Paul, and to all my fellow Bhoys and Ghirls across the World! HH!

Even outwith the current situation with the erm that lot,I’ve never understood why certain evidence is inadmissible.

Surely if it is evidence-there’s the smoking gun,or whatever-it is evidence. No argument.

I know you are hammering your head, love you for keeping on.

Thanks for keeping the blog going while having a ‘real’ job as well. Despite all the moaning, flouncing and in-fighting, we all love it.

A happy ,peaceful Christmas to one and all.

  15. Have a good Christmas fellow Timmites. I have a wee feeling that the ref in the Hearts game will be briefed to shape a result for the maroons. We might need to be a little more patient waiting on the return to form. No matter what happens be glad your a Tim, just think your Chritmas highlight could be the club announcing paying back a loan, as if it was something special.

  18. Woe betide us…

    Three ghosts have appeared.

The first ghost….Jock stein brought us nine in a row and big ears.

Mon brought us a treble and nearly succeeded in Europe, bar a diving b*****d team.

The second ghost…We are now a team in disarray with a manager that looks like he has lost confidence in the team he picks, I hope he will get it together!

The third… well the Huns would know more about that than us.

Merry Christmas to all on here, have a good one. Hail Hail

  20. Well done Paul 67 for another great year of CQN -where would we be without it – but particularly your charitable work. Have a happy Celtic Christmas.

  21. Merry Christmas to ‘all’ Tims

    From Kev’s ‘all’ inclusive Jungle.

    ….off oot – Jingle All The Way….

  22. A Gorbal’s Christmas

    Twas the night before Christmas,

When all through the CQN house,

Not a Tim was stirring not even a mouse,

The Celtic stockings were hung up by the chimney with care

In hope that Peter and Tony would soon be there,

The happy clappers were all snug in their beds,

With visions of Euro glory in their heads,

Mrs 67’s Celtic onesie and Paul with his cap,

Had just settled down for a lovely Celtic nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my bed to see what’s the matter,

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Only to see Alfie Noakes singing the Sash.

The moon on the snowy (breasted) pearl of the new fallen snow,

Gave the lustre of mid-day to the objects below,

When to my wandering eyes should appear,

Peter and Tony on a sleigh dragged by eight CQN reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

It must be Tony D dressed as Saint Nick,

More rapid than Voguepunter on his way to the pub,

He whistled and shouted and called them by their name.

“Now Starry! Now Quonno! Now Bobby and Bourne!

On Awe Naw on! Dena on ! Gearoid on! And 16 Roads!

To the top of the porch! To the top of the Jungle wall!

Now dash away! Dash away all!

And then in a twinkling, I heard a TIim on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each tiny hoof,

His clothes were all tarnished with Govan’s ashes and soot,

A bundle of signings he had flung on his back,

Newly released from Peter’s Celtic backpack.

He spoke not a word (unusual) but straight to his work,

And filled all the Celt’s stockings, then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside his red nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle

And away they all flew to prepare for the Thistle.

But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,

    Happy Christmas to all Tims…

And Giruy to all lurking huns.

Hail Hail and YNWA to all CQN’rs and Family.

  25. So that new club sends out a press release when it pays its dues? Shows you what a rare event it is for any club called Rangers,

Meanwhile CQN and the Celtic Foundation quietly raise fortunes for those in need.

Merry xmas everyone. See you on Sunday for the Hearts game.

  27. What are the odds there has been a mix up along the line with getting payment through to Mash, it will be tuesday before he will be able to confirm payment.

He might even refuse it if they have indeed tried to pay it back, it would be within his rights if the loan was in default.

    Naw, everything will be fine.
