I spoke to one of the volunteers after the Celtic FC Foundation bucket collection two weeks ago, the first time she had been at Celtic Park, who said, “There’s a positive vibe about this place. Lots of good people.”
That was despite all 50-something-thousand of us being wet to the core and shivering. It’s good for someone to point out what we have grown overly familiar with. At least four generations turn up at Celtic Park and the oldest of those attended as kids, when the very first Celtic fans were still around.
The football team is enjoying a generation of domination that is likely to become the longest in our history, but that is nothing more than an historical oddity. The spirit of the Celtic Movement is far more significant and has seldom been in better fettle.
The Celtic FC Foundation Christmas Appeal raised a record £240k this year. As a result, 466 families in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Ireland received a significant Christmas gift. 50 vulnerable pensioners in Glasgow received a voucher to help them through the period.
The Simon Community were able to provide 120 homeless with a dinner at Celtic Park. £10,000 was given to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital to assist those in over the festive period.
The Scottish Refuge Council and Refuweegee were supported in their work with welcome packs for every refugee who arrives in the city. Gift and outings were provided for families supported by Glasgow East Women’s Aid.
A dinner was provided for the 120 aided by Glasgow City Mission, who assist homeless and socially isolated members of our community. Support was also give to Loaves & Fishes, The Invisibles and The Wayside Club, both of who also assist the homeless.
Glasgow Night Shelter, who aid homeless men who cannot access conventional homeless services due to their immigration status benefited, as did the Elpis Centre, who provide similar assistance to young women.
The list goes on and includes similar organisations in Edinburgh, Fife, London, across Ireland and in Canada.
God help anyone who needed assistance from Celtic FC Foundation this Christmas. Their struggles with be significant and there will be few joys in their lives, but whether it’s a welcome pack, a meal, clothing, shelter or a toy, you reached out to them. And that’s more important than any treble.
Well done. It is great to be part of such a community.
Have a great Christmas.

I was watching an old Christmas TOTP.
Hokey Dokey by The Snowmen.
I always thought that was Ian Dury, he was signed to Stiff Records at the time and so were The Snowmen.
TOTP said, no one knows for sure but it may have been Jona Lewie, imitating Ian Dury as he was also signed to Stiff.
Any thoughts?
Hail Hail

Happy Christmas to all on CQN and particularly any who might find themselves alone today.
Thanks also to P67 for the platform. I often find myself at odds with your leaders but you are much stronger than me for allowing such a diverse range of views.

Was it around this time last year that Sevco were looking for ole Pedro’s (bless) replacement? At the time I was slightly concerned that they might hire Deek McInnes, as I thought that he could perhaps improve Sevco to a point where they may challenge us. Just reading some His comments ahead of tomorrow’s game… whit was ah thinkin’? The man is a pure Muppet.

Hope you had a great Christmas .. as for McInnes n co let them stew in their own pis…. gravy :-)
Had a beautiful day family & family and then some more family my two Sevconian step daughters absolutely love Gerrard (the Hun manager) although they both think am no the wurst …. for the first time in many a Christmas “football” was mentioned at the dinner table … I fling in the odd Sevco or what “Rangers” are you referring too …. all good fun as I can assure you I don’t care what team they ended up supporting they are a big part of my family support … Stevie Gee has given the Huns renewed belief …. :-) the hope will kill them again
3pts the morra would be great as the dandy dons are on an impressive run but Brendan Rodgers’s players usually give us a performance when we need one from them domestically :-)

Been on the go fae back of 6am, thankfully wee granddaughter is close enough to come down to our house in her jammies once Santa has went to her house… MissGFTB visits my sisters then niece picks her up to go to her house with her other aunties no far away …. I would be lost if I didn’t have them all close by and appreciate the blog for posts about others travelling to meet their loved ones … my glass is always half full as I probably the worry the day it isn’t :-) … Celtic is our bond and for me it’s never been the be all and end all…. I hope the first time Brendan doesn’t win a trophy we should all have a massive party as a thank you for having to wait that long for a loss :-) ?
Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas dinner with family and loved ones. Maybe you’ve even settled down to a few bevies and time with children/grandchildren. And as ye head towards midnight you’ll be thinking of tomorrow’s game. I’ll miss the whole game so here’s an early
C’mon the HOOPS.
Went down to Ground Zero yesterday and then on to the nearby Irish Famine Memorial. Then we headed to the Native American museum in the Smithsonian near Wall Street while taking in the NYSE and the most delicious cup cake ever in a posh shopping center near Ground Zero. After a nap and dinner we went to see the Rockettes Christmas show in Radio City. Didn’t think I would enjoy it but would highly recommend it.
Today we headed up to Central Park and then on to Columbia University before we headed back to Downtown Manhattan from where we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge to have some lunch. Couldn’t believe how many people were out and about today especially crossing the bridge.
Will head out later for dinner so enjoy your evening and when I check back tomorrow, hoopfully we we have added another three points to our tally.
Warmest Christmas greetings to all on Cqn.
HH!!
Merry Christmas and many thanks to Paul67 and family for CQN, from a cold, clear and beautiful Cape Cod. Also to all the regular CQNers, who keep me up to date and entertained, with all the latest news and views. A special greeting to the Bhoys in Bermuda who are some of the best family, friends and supporters that anyone could ask for.
Wishing a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year for everyone in CQN. (Hope we finish 2018 with two wins).

Happy if we get Weah in, it can only be a good thing adding another Tim to this Celtic team ;)))

Dbhoy 10.17pm
Totally agree … if Brendan wants that addition … all good.. George Weah was ma era and I think he could kick a ba… if young Tim Weah can emulate his Da good enough for me :-)
Signings aside … Pittodrie tomorrow by a million miles my favourite ever away ground growing up … the Beech/Beach end signing the “Broad Black Brimmer” is something that lives in this older bhoys mind …. when we the away fans got put too the side the favourite was Aiden MacAnespie .. just my memories :-) magical days … and that was without Brendan .. we reside in amazing Celtic times :-)
GFTB
Remember George Weah quite well and used to watch football Italia on C4 with the impressive James Richardson regularly .
I agree with a post from earlier. Half as good as his Dad and we have a player

Saturday morning, two rolls n skwerr with tattie scone, tomato sauce and a big mug of tea, pick a couple of coupons for my weekly donation to Ladbrokes . I barely picked a winner but told everyone when I did ;)))
Simple but enjoyable Saturday morning memories.
As for Gazza . I loved watching him in full flight pre Rangers. Never seemed to be fit enough for long enough to make a big impact, frustrating for him I’m sure. Looks like he has much bigger concerns in the last few years.
Whilst no friend of ours I wish him well and hope he can get his life back on track. A flawed man but who isn’t?
Anyway plastering factor duffel coat on ,got a bit sunburned at the beach yesterday and heading out to do some gardening before it gets too warm.
Very optimistic about our next two matches. Expecting Sinclair to shine,I really hope he does.
