YOUNG CELT DOOHAN’S No1 TARGET

CELTIC kid gloves Ross Doohan admitted he has four months to show he is top team material.
The 19-year-old keeper has agreed to join Morton on loan until January 4 – and the Clydebank-born starlet is determined to stake his claim for the No.1 spot at Cappielow.
Boss Jim Duffy hopes Doohan will challenge Derek Gaston for a place in the top side and the shotstopper said: “I’ve got to the age where I need first-team experience and the Morton move came up.
“I thought it would be the ideal opportunity and, hopefully, to play some games.

“I’m confident in my ability. I’ll need to be patient and just work hard in training. If I get my chance, I’ll need to take it and cement my place in the team.

“I feel I’m ready if called upon. I’ve played enough pre-season games and I feel I’ll do well if I get the nod.”

“Naturally, playing first team football makes you a better player and improves your match awareness.

“It should be a valuable experience and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Greenock gaffer Duffy added: “Ross in not coming as back-up, he’s coming to compete.”
Both Doohan and Gaston will be in the squad for today’s trip to Inverness to take on Caley Thistle.
