Your supporter groups, your club, your streets

1022

The umbrella group, Fans Against Criminalisation, issued a statement yesterday (kindly published here by Joe O’Rourke on the Association site) which details a number of events in response to Saturday’s policing on Gallowgate, and the resulting response from the SNP government.  Witnesses are invited to give evidence on Saturday (23rd March), with three protests planned next month.

To the relief of all, I’m sure, the statement also records that issues surrounding meetings two organisations had with the Club in November have been resolved.

Our Club and supporters groups are led by the kind of people you would trust with your most precious valuables, as many of us do.  They each strive in new and innovative ways to herd cats in the right direction, with remarkable success.  The tasks, carried out by hundreds of Celtic fans, of running buses, chasing tickets and navigating the impossible political challenges, is often thankless.  I know a few who wonder why they bother.

They bother because they care.  The office-bearers dedicate even more time looking after the common interests.  There are more Celtic heroes than those who wear the hoops.

I hear Fifa president, Sepp Blatter, has appointed Jeffrey Webb, currently head of CONCACAF, as chief of a newly created Fifa body to fight racism in football.  Mr Webb is a director of one of the largest banks in the Cayman Islands, known for its…. unique standards of propriety.  Nice.

Quick word for Tommy in Glasgow…. brilliant!

    Googy…,

My point is, we have among us quite a few who really do not give a funkeys muck about the Celtic support.

Never really thought I’d need to explain that to a Tim like yourself.

  2. Jimtim , I think you could be correct , P67 has been hinting at this for some time now.

  4. Civil disobedience. Something to be said for it. We’ve lost our stomach for a real fight. We’ve had it ripped from us. Soft have we become. Time get seasoned again.

Groups like the gb represent a threat to the status quo. And big brother can’t have that.

Look to Martin Luther king folks. Several thousand Celtic supporters sitting on the gallowgate refusing to move – i would be up for that.

Stand outside city hall all day long no one Will notice or care. Block a highway en masse, let the police be brutal…… You start people asking why.

Ok get what you are saying.

In many ways the Celtic Board have never giving a monkeys about the Celtic Support.

I do believe that Celtic like all teams have sold out to the Season Ticket and customer environment .

gordybhoy64-PL is anything but stupid,he is like a politician who can talk the talk, but doesn’t answer a question. The situation re the GB is baffling to many on here, though a few have seen this coming. His actions have been clumsy at best and neglect at worst IMO.I would have thought with SB sales dropping, the GB being the only growth area,it should have been invested in.Instead we have this farcical situation, where our own fans have been abandoned by the Club IMO.I can’t see this being resolved to mutual satisfaction. It seems as if it is being played out the way PL wants.I don’t know what his endgame is.HH

The endgame is to attract the hun corporate customers, sanitisation is to ensure “they” are not offended, have predicted before and will repeat for your benefit, the sash will be blasted out by corporate Celtic season ticket customers within the next decade.

  14. I completely agree with most other posters, what Tommy did to Sandaza was immoral and tasteless and could end up causing an innocent and naive guy his livelie. Can anybody point out if there are any legal Implications in carrying out this kind of “prank”. Just asking like.

Fabiani is not in the cabinet.

There are no Catholics in Salmond’s cabinet.

There’s never been a Catholic in an SNP cabinet or shadow cabinet.

But it’s not because they have anything against Catholics.

It’s just that they haven’t found one good enough yet.

  18. Neil thank u for ur reply . I along with thousands of celtic fans appreciate the contribution made by the GB. I had the pleasure of being in a restaurant in norwich and being surrounded by norwich city fans , who were more excited at seeing the celtic support than they were on the game , The celtic support are an attraction in their own rite , and that barcelona display will live with me forever . But my friend like other clubs we do have some unsavoury moments . As i said i feel something is driving on our board to act in this manner , it may be a requesite to moving on from this stinking country

‘Haud on a wee minute – this is becoming a twisted argument.

Are some bloggers really saying that they can’t see any legitimate circumstances under which Celtic would be entitled to ban any supporter???’

I said I couldn’t think of any behaviour which would justify Celtic banning a fan which wouldn’t have left the fan liable to immediate arrest.

The only suggestion anyone has come up with so far is someone sitting in the wrong seat.

I’m not sure if that was meant to be a serious suggestion.

  22. What is happening here is the biggest scandal in the recent history of Celtic post Fergus.

Celtic actively targeting one group of fans, after countless lies and spin, they now admit they have been passing details onto the police without a word of warning to the support or the individuals concerned, and now we have the disclosure that they are actively looking to get banning orders, what is going on!

Heads should role over this, who ever is in charge of PR at Celtic needs there haw maws well and truly toed!

Hey, never mind the LNS verdict its okay bhoys nothing to see here move along please, we have some of these GB bhoys to crucify………….so much for the much vaunted custodians of our club, and we are supposed to trust these people..

I truly dont know where we go from here, earlier today i thought that the club admitting this was a good thing, now after a few hours of contemplation i now feel extremely angry, that these people could actually behave like this towards a section of our support, is this what we have become, are we really a special club, how can we be when we see this is as a valid policy, is it payback because we forced the board to say no to Newco with all the financial implications that held?

The anger i feel when i think of the Gallowgate on Saturday, the harassment and criminalization of our support the board aiding and abetting behind closed doors, anyone now who actually think that they haven’t needs to waken up fast and get their head out of the sand before its too late, there is a backlash coming and hell mend the culprits who have allowed this to happen.

I have never felt so detached from the club in a long long time.
