Your supporter groups, your club, your streets

1022

The umbrella group, Fans Against Criminalisation, issued a statement yesterday (kindly published here by Joe O’Rourke on the Association site) which details a number of events in response to Saturday’s policing on Gallowgate, and the resulting response from the SNP government.  Witnesses are invited to give evidence on Saturday (23rd March), with three protests planned next month.

To the relief of all, I’m sure, the statement also records that issues surrounding meetings two organisations had with the Club in November have been resolved.

Our Club and supporters groups are led by the kind of people you would trust with your most precious valuables, as many of us do.  They each strive in new and innovative ways to herd cats in the right direction, with remarkable success.  The tasks, carried out by hundreds of Celtic fans, of running buses, chasing tickets and navigating the impossible political challenges, is often thankless.  I know a few who wonder why they bother.

They bother because they care.  The office-bearers dedicate even more time looking after the common interests.  There are more Celtic heroes than those who wear the hoops.

I hear Fifa president, Sepp Blatter, has appointed Jeffrey Webb, currently head of CONCACAF, as chief of a newly created Fifa body to fight racism in football.  Mr Webb is a director of one of the largest banks in the Cayman Islands, known for its…. unique standards of propriety.  Nice.

Quick word for Tommy in Glasgow…. brilliant!

I agree Canamalar and a few others can go well OTT on the ad hominems.

Need I remind you that, despite your own self praise about not doing so, you have been caught doing so regularly and, in pete c’s case, it was not against a poster who attacked you first

“BTW STFB can we have a capital “c” in Catholic?’

I’ll do my best to discriminate better when a Big C and a small c are required if you manage to answer the double questions that you regularly pose.

I’m happy in the knowledge you are far too bright to be dragged into that clumsy try.

Cowiebhoy, whoa down there big fella. I’ve still got to get this one in glass. Watch this space.

Every bottle excahnged with a CQN’r will require a donation to the wee oscar fund. I don’t think that’s a problem for people of such generosity as those on this site.

    Hail Hail Bruv.

Sadder may be your ability to understand what is posed to you.

When Rangers signed Judas (and I know he was not the first from a so-called Catholic background to play for them), no one felt it was an end to the bigotry but it was a start. Nobody demanded that they sign a 2nd or a 3rd player from an RC background to prove they meant it.

But it remains legitimate to ask why they did not have an open policy towards RC players from the 1910s to the 1980s. It is legitimate to ask again the question that you duck and twist. Why, given that most of the party have long given up any overt anti-RC expressions, have none of the competent politicians of RC background been promoted. Are McAskill, Sturgeon and Swinney so superior to Cunningham and Fabiani? It would be hard to convince neutrals on that point.

Honestly though, that stuff about Labour wanting to kep people in poverty, suggests there is some delusional thinking in your party or a large rum of Tartan Tories remain.

I would like to see a higher standard of logical thinking than this sophomore stuff.

  10. I wasn’t being glum ACGR.

With all due respect Ernie, you’re confused, misinformed or trying to be deliberately misleading.

Roseanna Cunningham was Minister for the Environment. This means that the *WAS* in the cabinet. It’s a cabinet position.

Please retract your statement. I don’t know who’s fed you that line, but it’s a lie.

    Well done!

You were a lightning rod for attracting acerbic reactions on here and some of that was down to your style of jumping in the middle before you were informed of what was going on.

I am happy to resume a more civil form of discourse but we can still disagree on points without being suspicious.

At least, you are not a multi-poster :-)

  15. Sorry to butt in to the wee political debate, but a couple of things to add…

Political decisions you do not read in the MSM…

    Number 1

And Political realities you do not read in the MSM…..

  16. Ntassoolla…

p8ddy for what it may mean to you I’ve decide that ernie is to be ignored.

I just think it’s such a damaging accusation. I detest sectarianism and bigotry – so to see it used (I suspect) as a weapon of convenience upsets me.

And I think we are better than that – as a support that’s suffered anti-Irish and anti-catholic sentiment over the years (although I no longer personally count myself as Catholic) it’s a poor tactic.

I’ve been heartened by the number of people on here tonight uncomfortable with Tommy’s Sandaza “prank”. As a fanbase we are noted for our humanity and openess. Gossip mongering won’t help that. :)

ACGR, when the 11 year old is bottled let me know.

    ………………………………………………………………………………

No problem bruv, I’ll have to pass it by my official taster Pedrochararblahablah67 (ma wee bruvver) first then it will hit the market. It may even have to wait to be a twelve Y.O.

Joking aside, I’m in a three man syndacate with this one and the other two are in the U.S. so I’m trying to convince them to bottle now but they’re both stalling. Hopefully get it in glass in the autumn. Every bottle that passes via CQN comes with a donation to the wee man’s fund. I will reitterate this with every exchange. Get my email from Paul67, PC67, as_I_thought, 16 roads, crc, bmcuwp, etc etc.

I tasted it last year and it was excepional, I bloody hope it stays that way. Get a bid in for the 3E No.1 it is out of this world.

  18. winning captains,

My posts were not aimed at giving Paul a hard time.

I was merely observing that the style and, particularly the Tommy comment, were not his usual tone.

It is universally understood that Paul devotes an inordinate amount of time and energy to this site and I for one, fully appreciate that.

Given the information that you supplied re his current work situation, it would be understandable if he employed a stand in for today’s article.

If that was the case, then it underlines the quality and consistancy of his regular posts, as today’s fell well below that standard.

This is my last comment on this.

  19. Thanks STFB.

    I am unable to multi-post.Even if I wanted to. Which I don’t

On occasions on the DR one was forced to change ID.

For reasons which he has never revealed MHAN-AT-C&A is able to spot me a mile off. Maybe it’s because I’m better dressed than him.

I have to confess that when I start to discuss Rangers it short-circuits what’s left of my brain and lands me in all sorts of bother. I am resigned to the fact that this will most likely always be the case.
