Your supporter groups, your club, your streets

1022

The umbrella group, Fans Against Criminalisation, issued a statement yesterday (kindly published here by Joe O’Rourke on the Association site) which details a number of events in response to Saturday’s policing on Gallowgate, and the resulting response from the SNP government.  Witnesses are invited to give evidence on Saturday (23rd March), with three protests planned next month.

To the relief of all, I’m sure, the statement also records that issues surrounding meetings two organisations had with the Club in November have been resolved.

Our Club and supporters groups are led by the kind of people you would trust with your most precious valuables, as many of us do.  They each strive in new and innovative ways to herd cats in the right direction, with remarkable success.  The tasks, carried out by hundreds of Celtic fans, of running buses, chasing tickets and navigating the impossible political challenges, is often thankless.  I know a few who wonder why they bother.

They bother because they care.  The office-bearers dedicate even more time looking after the common interests.  There are more Celtic heroes than those who wear the hoops.

I hear Fifa president, Sepp Blatter, has appointed Jeffrey Webb, currently head of CONCACAF, as chief of a newly created Fifa body to fight racism in football.  Mr Webb is a director of one of the largest banks in the Cayman Islands, known for its…. unique standards of propriety.  Nice.

Quick word for Tommy in Glasgow…. brilliant!

From CQN Magazine:
Watt a goal. Celtic started this season’s European adventure against HJK Helsinki..”

  1. Marrakesh Express on

I’m trying to kick the habit of listening to the Clyde phone-in, just like I quit reading the gutter press years ago. Anyway the Sevco propaganda machine is on full throttle with the SSB crew, and it’s fair to say that Walker is learning how to take the soup as well as his role model Keevins. I can understand balloons like DJ and Dalzell etc promoting the cause to get the fledgling club up to the SPL, because even they can do the sums which say that Chuckles isn’t making ends meet. It’s also very obvious that Walker, Guidi and co are ordered to tow the hun line or they lose the extra beer money which I’m told is £300 a show.

Guidi and Walker have both stated this week that there must be a way to fast track the new club into the SPL or, as a Sevco punter said, ‘wull definettly meen the enda Scottish fitba’. Both pundits actually backing up this deluded nutter is beyond cringeworthy.

The point to come back with is so obvious and maybe someone has asked it already. Scottish Fitba will definitely croak IF the huns are allowed to jackboot their way up the league, breaking and bending more rules and regs as they go. How many fans of ALL clubs would renew books if this was allowed to happen?

    Now that would mean armageddon.

Good luck with the job hunting. I hope you are seeking new pastures whilst still in the old pasture.

Hope you can make it over the summer, whither or which.

I didn’t see your 70s team selection as I am way behind in the CQN mag reading.

“It was at this point that, as angry and violently aggressive members of the Fascist IRA supporting Green Brigade fought their way through police ranks, that officers quite properly drew batons in order that they could protect themselves as they strove to protect innocent members of the public on the streets of Glasgow whose innocent Saturday shopping expeditions were in danger of being turned into terror by these terrorist supporting Celtic fans.”

Surely not for the privilege of playing in Div.3, unless, of course, it is the only club they ever wanted to play for.

  21. Paul67 et al

Just heard the story about the guy who burst into a bingo hall in Kentucky and shouted “Bingo!”. Not quite on the same level as shouting “Fire” in a cinema, but for those that know it is not clever to upset the housy housy brigade. Anyways he got taken to court and the Judge stated that though he would not sentence him to jail he was going to ban him from using said word for the next six months.

  23. A letter back from my MSP re Saturday’s events. He’s complained to Chief Constable House; ACC Corrigan; Roseanna Cunningham and he provided me details of the dialogue in the chamber of the Scottish parliament re the police activity. He’s not letting it go by the look of it.

Leggat is sad old man. A tabloid journalist to the last. He’s more to be pitied than reviled. And the sideshow he produces with the denizens of Follow Follow is truly funny.
