Zaluska assault

808

I didn’t realise until this morning that the assault on Lukasz Zaluska’s assault by two premiership footballers was so serious as to have the player lying unconscious on the ground for several minutes.  The Celtic player was out in Glasgow with his wife Sunday night before the incident.

Lukasz was singled-out for online abuse by two Dundee United players in August, one from Poland, one Scottish-born player who has represented Northern Ireland, after the Legia Warsaw Champions League qualifier.  The Polish player subsequently took to Twitter to campaign for Legia’s punishment for fielding a suspended player against Celtic to be reduced.

The stories I could tell about various footballers would fill more than a few volumes, but all of the tales I’ve heard about Lukasz are that he is a polite, generous, player who repeatedly puts himself out to help Celtic fans and Poles living here.  Very best wishes to the big guy, I hope we see him back soon.

If you fancy watching Sunday’s game against Kilmarnock in comfort……..  We have secured another pair of Premium Seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand from Celtic sponsor Magners.  To win the tickets answer the following question:

Which country do Thursday’s opponents FC Astra come from?

Optionally, if you have £1 available, please donate it to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which will send your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your contact details (with or without donation confirmation) to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Competition closes tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10pm, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox Thursday morning.  You can donate more than £1 if you like, of course.  Terms and conditions are available here.

By all accounts sounds like pure and utter thuggish and cowardice behaviour.

Thuggish by two men attacking a man with his wife on the street in front of dozens of people and cowardice because the first assault took place from behind and then his mate dirty joe’d a guy kneeling over with his hands over his face.

To hear of any person being attacked in similar fashion is disgusting, to hear about it happening to a Celtic player provokes a father like protective emotion in me.

Karma gets to everyone eventually – its been in town quite recently righting a few wrongs stretching across generations.

p.s. its even biting Engerland in the behind at the minute with Europe taking engerlands place and engerland taking on scotlands place in their version of better together!

  11. forecast – video footage – inconclusive not allowed as evidence . Case dropped…..years ago a pal got nose smashed in a friendly match between two companies.. The attacker was sacked. .don’t hold you breath..

Cerzniak the goalkeeper and Fojut are the only 2 Polish players I’m aware of at Dundee utd.

Very bad form if one of them was involved in both internet abuse of Lukasz and also Sunday nights assault. Clearly premeditated thuggery if so.

Lukasz was of course on Legia’s books before he came to Scotland and I read him in the press when the Legia registration issue first came to light. He was very clear that Legia were the better team over the 2 games and should not be made to forfeit the 2nd leg 0-3.

So I’m amazed as to why the pair of Dundee utd players took it on themselves to have a go at him.

I hope that the police charge the culprits, that the court hammers them, and that Jackie McNamara shows them the door.

I would expect no less of as club like Dundee Utd who normally act with the greatest of integrity.

  15. On a completely different point (although I hope big LZ is well and no lasting damage courtesy of the the 2 cowardly thugs who deserve to be severely punished!) has anyone else received a call in the last couple of days supposedly from a venture capital company re their Celtic shares and a possible acquisition of celtic plc?

I listened for a moment, told them they must be mistaken about my shares and hung up.

Seemed a strange one though, esp with the AGM next month. Anyone else?

Pukki was a strange one. He comes off the bench on his debut at Hearts and scores a tap in. I instantly thought great the pressure is off the Bhoy and he will be in now for about 10 games from the start and hopefully we can see what he is made of. He then got drafted in for the odd start and sub appearance. Totally bizarre way to treat the biggest signing or one of the biggest signings money wise at the club. If he is the right man and you pay over £2m for him he must play from the start in a run of matches. He never looked happy though and I suspect the deal was pushed through by his agent and Celtic and we probably got a much better deal than reported.

The signing of Scepovic confuses me greatly. Seems to be in the Pukki mould. Now unless the Bhoy is injured or has a taste for chips that means Ronny is trying to get him match fit then why did we sign this guy? He didn;t appear to be that keen to come in the first place and now he is here he seems to be behind Stokes, Guidetti and is the new Pukki coming off the bench. Hopefully he will get off and running against the Romanians but in al honesty the longer he doesn;t start games the more he reminds me of the Pukki signing. Fair play to Guidetti though who appears to noy only be doing the business on the pitch but also off the pitch when interviewed. More crucially Guidetti seems to be a big character in the dressing room which is possibly helping our players gel particularly the new ones. He seems to be a similar character to Brown when he signed. A bit madcap but also producing the goods. Hopefully we can convince him to stay longer.

Pukki and Scepovic seem a mystery to me. Early days for the latter but over £2m for a guy who looks no better than Stokes or Griffiths and who has had more clubs than Teemu Pukki and is a few years younger. Hope my concerns are unfounded and he strikes on and rattles in 20+ this season but the longer he doesn;t start the more I am reminded of Pukki.

Been busy the last few days but must say well done to the players and gaffer for the performance on Saturday. Clinical!

    Well done RD.

I lived in Holland when Cruijff began to be recognised as a great footballer (a mate told me when I arrived he would be one of the best). I was there when Ajax hammered us in Amsterdam. Piet Keizer was one of those who had a great game that night. Ajax played football, like Jock Stein in his prime had Celtic playing: play to the strengths of each member of the team. It wasn’t just Johan who had that awareness, great player that he was.

    Spot on,mate.

Krol,Rijnders and Neeskens were outstanding players.

And Cruyff was as good as it has ever got in his role.

I was at that game also. In the 1st half we survived but in the 2nd they completely overwhelmed us. I knew I was watching something really special that night from Ajax por cierto

It would’ve been a minor politeness to give our goal-keeper his full name in the header. Poor form.

From the sketchy details available, it’s truly despicable behaviour to target a man when he’s with his partner. Shame on the guilty parties.
