Zaluska assault

808

I didn’t realise until this morning that the assault on Lukasz Zaluska’s assault by two premiership footballers was so serious as to have the player lying unconscious on the ground for several minutes.  The Celtic player was out in Glasgow with his wife Sunday night before the incident.

Lukasz was singled-out for online abuse by two Dundee United players in August, one from Poland, one Scottish-born player who has represented Northern Ireland, after the Legia Warsaw Champions League qualifier.  The Polish player subsequently took to Twitter to campaign for Legia’s punishment for fielding a suspended player against Celtic to be reduced.

The stories I could tell about various footballers would fill more than a few volumes, but all of the tales I’ve heard about Lukasz are that he is a polite, generous, player who repeatedly puts himself out to help Celtic fans and Poles living here.  Very best wishes to the big guy, I hope we see him back soon.

If you fancy watching Sunday’s game against Kilmarnock in comfort……..  We have secured another pair of Premium Seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand from Celtic sponsor Magners.  To win the tickets answer the following question:

Which country do Thursday’s opponents FC Astra come from?

Guidetti is the first signing in a number of years I was genuinely excited about and was praying for him to come. Now he’s in Paradise and doing the business, I am praying he doesn’t go again. He’d be worth pushing the boat out for, 1 loan signing I’d love to see made permanent. I really believe he looks at Henke and the adulation he received at Celtic, and fancies a bit of it himself. Better though, I think he has the talent to, if not match or better Henke, at least earn some of the adulation himself. IMHO.

“Some second rate actor” Not so.

McNeil was likened to Cesar Romero after the original version of Oceans 11 (1960’s) starring Frank Sinatra and his entire rat pack.

It was actually John Colrain who gave him the name as others less well known were Mike Jackson who was called Dino after Dean Martin plus he fancied himself as a singer.

Romero was seen as the Leader and influence over the entire operation and a comparison was drawn with Billy McNeil.

Sorry, I was quoting Bertie Auld who described him in this way. Bit before my time!

Cesar and Caesar are BOTH correct.

Jim Black’s book on Billy (2004) made a big play of using Cesar as the correct version but there’s nothing wrong with our image of Billy in Lisbon as Caesar.

We asked the question before opting for Caesar and the man himself decided for us. We cover this in the book at the very beginning.

You can always ask Billy himself when he comes on here!

The Token Tim – they’re infuriating aren’t they?

I shouldn’t let them bother me but it is very difficult because I have very limited patience.

I can’t even relate my NPower story on here because of the strict blog guidelines. I’ve been at war with them for three years.

They had to post copies of our correspondence to me last month – it weighed 3 kgs. The fight goes on!

Good to catch up with you on Saturday and I apologise for not meeting you after the game but we were smartly ushered onto the bus by a grumpy club secretary when I tried to make my way towards the main stand after the game.

    Thanks for reply.

Was a bit surprised when I seen the Title, but have not read the book yet so was unaware of the clarification.

He does go into the name background in the 2004 book hence the reason I was surprised he opted for a change in this recent publication.

Not to worry its what he is holding that is important.

  9. bada bing – they were shocking. Couldnt believe my luck when a couple months later had someone came to my door trying to get me to join their phone/broadband……lets just say they were practically running away down the drive from me after a couple minutes!

tomtheleedstim – infuriating doesnt even begin to cover it, but I can see that you are more than aware of that from your NPower comment!

I also had a 18 month long fight with Orange, that could have ended up in court, but they dropped it, although they have told me I (and my wife, who’s phone it actually was) will never get a contract with them again. Couldnt give a monkeys. They were a disgrace, yet the CAB, my lawyer and others told me to forget it as I would never win even though they were clearly in breach of the contract.

Does my head in that these multi-nats can get away with it.

  11. Drama Queens really getting their pishy knickers in a twist today

A group of so called football players that have been loosely associated with Dundee Utd at one time or another are all coincidentally in Ashton Lane in the early hours of Monday morning along with their wives girlfriends and no doubt other hangers on

Nae fancy swanky restaurants are opened in the early hours of the morning in this leafy west end centre of entertainment

So it’s safe to assume that they were enjoying themselves in the local hostelries

No doubt something has been brought up from the past and words have been exchanged and footballers being footballers have resorted to settling the matter as only they know how and it’s not using eloquent speech and language

Face it if was a group of joiners in the same circumstances would you give a monkeys

Please see it for what it is a drunken brawl from those who don’t know any better and not as is being inferred as some sort of anti Celtic conspiracy

Ps Deilas message obviously not getting through to big Zaluska

  12. The Battered Bunnet on

It has been reported that Lukasz was unconscious following the attacked, having suffered a head injury.

Unconsciousness is a primary indicator of concussion, a traumatic brain injury.

There is an emerging debate in sport, football included, over what an appropriate recovery period following a concussion ought to be. Recent tragedies have highlighted the risk of concussed players receiving a second blow to the head.

Because the outcome of such a second blow can be fatal, known as Second Impact Syndrome, careful management of return to play is critical.

Best practice currently is considered to be 2 weeks of symptom-free rest, following which a gradual return to play not less than 3 weeks following the initial head trauma.

Lukasz was, by virtue of being knocked unconscious, by definition concussed.

He should be available for selection, provided he remains symptom free, by week commencing 10th November, and not before.

Of course, these are considered best practice guidelines, not statutory rules. I’m sure Celtic will have TBI specialists on hand to advise and supervise Lukasz’s recovery, using all manner of tests and techniques to accelerate the rehabilitation programme, and I’m equally sure he’ll be back on the bench before the end of the month.

    Concussion is a bit of a headache I suppose…

There are an awful lot of assumptions contained in the version that you claim to be “what it is” whilst you reckon others are guilty of inferring??

Did you bring such a closed cynical mind to investigations when you were a polis?

P.S. For the record, I saw no poster stating this was an anti-Celtic conspiracy but whether any anti-Celtic sentiment was involved in the attack, we should just wait and see, perhaps?
