‘ZENIT NOT FAVOURITES FOR TROPHY,’ MANCINI

ROBERTO MANCINI was delighted with Zenit St Petersburg’s comeback 3-0 Europa League victory over Celtic in Russia last night.

However, as he prepared for today’s last-16 draw in Nyon, Switzerland, the Italian boss conceded his team were far from favourites to win the trophy.

Asked if he preferred a Russian side in the ballot, the former Manchester City gaffer answered: “I don’t know. All the teams left are strong and maybe better than us.”

Mancini added: “In Glasgow, we played a good game. It was our first game after two months, so it was difficult.

“The tempo of Celtic was very good and they didn’t give us chances to score.

“On this occasion, we played very, very well, we scored three goals and had a lot of chances.

“The most important thing is for 75 minutes we didn’t give Celtic a single chance.”
