ALLAN’S HIBS DEAL: NEW TWIST

FROZEN-OUT Celtic midfielder Scott Allan has agreed a three-year pre-contract deal with Hibs, as CQN reported yesterday.

However, Easter Road boss Neil Lennon is hoping to do a deal with his former club to get the 27-year-old player NOW.

Allan will be free to quit the Hoops in the summer and will head for the Edinburgh club for the third time in his career. The former Dundee United and West Brom starlet spent a year in Leith before joining the Hoops in a bargain £300,000 switch in the summer of 2015.

He spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan before being recalled by Brendan Rodgers. However, the playmaker hasn’t featured in a solitary first team game and was always heading for the Parkhead exit when his contract expired in June.

Lennon, though, is eager to get Allan in at the club immediately, especially with winger Martin Boyle out for the remainder of the term and Jamie Maclaren currently on international duty with Australia in the Asian Cup alongside the champions’ Tom Rogic.

The Hibs gaffer said: “It’s no secret that Scott is a player I admire and wanted back at Hibs.

“He’s a player who suits the attacking brand of football we like to play – the type that gets supporters off their seats.”

Allan has also had temporary transfers at Rotherham and Dundee during his time at Parkhead.

Lennon may have to pay a nominal fee to land the player before this month transfer window closes.
