CELTIC EYE £2m DEFENDER

CELTIC are monitoring £2million-rated Hammarby left-back Mohanad Jeahze.

Ange Postecoglou will bolster his squad in his third transfer window during the summer and he has identified the No.3 spot as a problem position.

The Hoops boss, as reported in CQN at the weekend, admitted: “There are still a few areas we need to look at. We’re still rebuilding and I want us to be stronger next year in terms of quality in the squad.”

Twenty-five-year-old Swedish-born Iraq international defender Jeahze is on the Greek-Australian’s radar as he looks to add to his options on the left-hand side of his back four with Greg Taylor his regular in that slot.

He has versatile Republic of Ireland ace Liam Scales as back-up while Adam Montgomery is currently on loan at Aberdeen while £3million misfit Boli Bolingoli clearly has not future at the club, despite still having more than a year to run on his contract.

Polish outfit Lech Poznan have already had a bid rejected for Jaehze and may come back again at the end of the season, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

Swedish league pacesetters Hammarby signed the highly-rated full-back from rivals Mjallby in 2020.

Jeahze is out of contract in December 2023 and the Swedes are open to a reasonable offer for the attacking defender.
