GREEN LIGHT FOR CELTIC TRIO

CELTIC’S crocked trio of James Forrest, Kristoffer Ajer and Albian Ajeti will be given the green light to play at Ibrox on May 2.

The threesome missed the 1-1 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie last night through injury, but will be available for the fifth encounter of the season against Steven Gerrard’s side in 10 days’ time.

Ajer was a surprise omission for the match against the Dons after failing to recover from a shoulder injury sustained in the Scottish Cup loss in Govan at the weekend.

Forrest was already sidelined for the tie after being taken off in the 6-0 Premiership win over Livingston in the previous match.

Ajeti, who made a cameo appearance at Ibrox, was also omitted as he strives to attain match fitness.

John Kennedy confirmed Norwegian international Ajer will be fit for the next match after he had been left out of the squad with Nir Bitton taking his place alongside Stephen Welsh in the middle of the rearguard in yet another new partnership.

The caretaker gaffer, speaking to BBC Sportsound, said: “Kris is okay. He hurt his shoulder during the game and managed to get through it.

“For a couple of days, he was a little tender, so there was no need to risk him on this occasion.

“He’s played loads of games this season, as well, so it gives us a chance to bring Bitton into the team.”
