HOW LENNY ANNOYED 2-GOAL RYAN

NEIL LENNON has revealed Ryan Christie was ANNOYED with the Celtic manager in the 5-0 romp against Nomme Kalju at Parkhead last night.

The cultured playmaker scored two goals – one from an expertly-taken penalty-kick and the other a sublime curling effort from outside the box – as the Hoops raced to a commanding advantage that has all but rendered Tuesday’s Champions League second round return in Estonia meaningless.

Christie clearly enjoyed the freedom as he worked his way into inviting spaces against vulnerable opponents who had stepped out of their class against ruthless rivals who scored five, but could have doubled that scoreline if it hadn’t been for some goalkeeping heroics of Pavel Londak, as CQN highlighted in our match report.

But the Highlander wasn’t exactly overjoyed to get the hook from his gaffer and make his exit from the action in the 71st minute with Olivier Ntcham taking his place.

The Hoops boss, speaking to the club website, admitted: “Ryan Christie’s set-play and delivery was fantastic. His penalty was great.

“He was annoyed at me taking him off because he was on a hat-trick, but he was also on a booking. He’s in a good place right now and, hopefully, he can keep going.

“Ryan also had a great delivery for the goal, which broke the deadlock. It’s an aspect of the game we can definitely make better.”

Lennon added: “I can’t ask any more of the players. I thought the second-half we were very good. We took a bit of time to get going, but once we got the goal we really went for it.

“We got five goals, a clean sheet and that’s a nice luxury to have. We can perhaps have a look at the wider squad over there now.

”I’m pleased and a lot of hard work goes into it, as well. Looking ahead, again, we have another week’s work and we’ll be sharper and fitter. The competition will be stiffer in the next round, but we still must travel to Estonia next week.”

Comeback Bhoy Leigh Griffiths, with his first goal this year, Kristoffer Ajer and Callum McGregor were the other marksmen as the champions eased through the gears in an impressive performance that augers well for the season ahead.
