‘I WANT TO STAY AT CELTIC,’ BAIN
SCOTT BAIN has revealed he wants to remain at Celtic beyond the end of his loan deal in the summer.
The 26-year-old keeper will become a free agent when his contract expires at Dundee at the completion of the season.
Bain joined the Hoops in an emergency temporary move following Craig Gordon’s knee injury against Hibs on January 27.
He made a dramatic debut in 10-man Celtic’s 3-2 win at Ibrox on March 11 after Dorus de Vries had been crocked in training 24 hours earlier. Bain remained in place for the goalless draw at Motherwell with the Dutchman on the bench.
The shotstopper said: “I’ve enjoyed the fact that I’m here at this great club. I’ve loved every minute of being here and the fans have been fantastic with me since I’ve come here and played a few games.
“Because of my age, it’s going to be a big move for me in terms of my career.
“I would like it to be here because I think this club has everything for me to improve and I’ve loved every minute of it.
“I’m just enjoying football again and I’d love it to be here.”
Bain added: “In terms of Scotland, it’s not something I’ve really thought about. It’s been such a strange season for me.
“I’ve been out of games for a long time and coming to Celtic, maybe not expecting to play and just be the sub goal keeper and try to get a contract through training.
“Being here, definitely gives me an opportunity to be thought about for the Scotland squad especially if I’m playing games, but it’s not something that’s in my mind all the time.”
Bain is likely to keep the gloves for the visit of Ross County on Saturday with De Vries, 37, once more as back-up.
