CROCKED GORDON ON WAY BACK

CRAIG GORDON has given Celtic a timely boost by an early return to training following a knee injury.

The Scotland international keeper was initially ruled out for 12 weeks after damaging a medial ligament in the Hoops’ 1-0 win over Hibs at Parkhead on January 27.

But the 35-year-old shotstopper, whose career was in jeopardy when he was sidelined for two years with knee and shoulder problems, posted an update on social media fewer than six weeks into his rehabilitation.

Alongside a picture of his football boots and gloves, Gordon said: “It’s been a while, loved having these back on today.”

Although he is still likely to be weeks away from a return to first team action, the veteran’s progress will be welcomed by Brendan Rodgers.

The Parkhead boss hastily arranged a January loan move for Dundee’s Scott Bain as back-up to Dutchman Dorus de Vries during the former Hearts and Sunderland keeper’s enforced spell on the sidelines.
