‘McGINN IS WORTH £5m,’ LENNON

NEIL LENNON has slapped a £5million price tag on Hibs midfielder John McGinn.

The former Celtic boss is bracing himself for bids for the Scotland new boy following an impressive season.

McGinn produced a battling display alongside Hoops double-act Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor in the 1-0 win over Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday night.

The performance of the 23-year-old dynamo, who now has seven caps, sparked speculation he could be the ideal long-term replacement for Parkhead skipper Scott Brown, whose place he has taken in the international line-up following the 32-year-old’s retirement at that level.

Lennon, who will be without McGinn for the next two games against Partick Thistle and Hamilton Accies due to suspension, said: “It is inevitable with the progress John is making that there will be interest in him.

“He has a price. I think in this day and age, £5million would cover it. I value him very highly, as we all do here, and we won’t sell ourselves short if the bids come in for him.

“If I was a manager somewhere else, I would be having a right good look at him.

“I was really pleased with John’s contribution on Tuesday.

“He looked very comfortable in that environment, but that’s testament to how he’s been playing since I walked in the door – and before that.”
