O’NEILL RETURNS FOR BROONY

CELTIC skipper Scott Brown looks poised to be rewarded with a money-spinning testimonial against the Republic of Ireland.

The Hoops midfielder, 32, joined the club a decade ago in a-then £4.4million deal from Hibs and is expected to be honoured with a game against Martin O’Neill’s men at Parkhead.

According to reports, talks are at an advanced stage for a clash that would also bring former ace Roy Keane back to the east end of Glasgow.

A proposed date of Sunday May 20 – the day after the Scottish Cup Final – is currently being discussed and an announcement is believed to be expected over the next 48 hours.

Brendan Rodgers’ former club Liverpool were also mentioned as possible opponents, but an agreement could not be reached with the Anfield club.

Brown has played over 450 games for the champions and has made a record number of European appearances for the club.
