‘NO SYMPATHY FOR MORELOS.’ ROBERTS

PATRICK ROBERTS admitted he had no sympathy for Alfredo Morelos when he fluffed a great opportunity to level in Celtic’s 3-2 win at Ibrox last month.

The on-loan Manchester City winger knows only too well how the Colombian striker felt – because he suffered a horror miss in the Scottish Cup semi-final against the Ibrox side two years ago.

Making it even worse, the Hoops went out after losing 5-4 on penalty-kicks following a 2-2 draw.

Roberts failed to convert from eight yards when a low drive from Leigh Griffiths ricocheted off the inside of the post and landed at his feet. Unbelievably, he missed the target and put the ball in the sidenet.

The 21-year-old Hoops fans’ favourite said: “I can’t have sympathy for him, but I can relate to it.

“Rangers were delighted when I missed and last time I’m glad that we won.

“I couldn’t get away from it in the days afterwards. You 
try to forget about it, but it’s hard because even now people still remember.

“However, I don’t really care about it now. It’s in the past and you have to move on and look forward.

“But it was a huge moment at the time. It fired me up afterwards. You want to make amends, but you can try too hard and it can go the other way.

“You just have to be mentally focused and concentrated on the game.”

Looking at today’s Hampden clash, Roberts added: “We determine what the team’s like. If we’re right at it, most teams can’t handle us sometimes.

“So, if we’re on our game, 
we’ll have the best chance of
 winning the match.”
