IT was double tops for Kyogo Furuhashi last night as the prolific striker was honoured by his fellow professionals and his Celtic team-mates.

The Japanese international won both the PFA AND the Parkhead club’s Player of the Year award in recognition of his scoring exploits and all-round excellent form.

Kyogo has claimed 30 goals this season to add to the 20 in the previous injury-interrupted campaign to take his haul to half a century since his £4.6million arrival from Vissel Kobe in July 2021.

The 28-year-old hitman was among the four nominees for the honour as voted by his SPFL member players and had to beat Hoops colleagues Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate and Motherwell’s 26-goal Dutch forward Kevin van Veen to be named No.1 in the country.

At the Celtic awards ceremony, Kyogo scooped his own treble on the night, winning the Player of the Year, voted for by the fans, as well as the Players’ Player of the Year recognition. And he also picked up the Top Goalscorer of the Year trophy, having already hit 30 goals for the Hoops this season.

The Hoops supporters voted Matt O’Riley their Young Player of the Year, while Ben Summers, who recently made his first-team debut, was the Academy Player of the Year, according to a report on the club website.

PARADISE…Filipe Jota earned the Top Goal award.

In the Goal of the Season category, another award voted for by the team’s followers, it was Filipe Jota’s exquisite chip in the 4-0 derby triumph at Parkhead in September.

Caitlin Hayes also won a double, with the defender rewarded for an impressive campaign with the Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.
