  1. Quality, efficiency and tactical awareness = results like today. Brendan saying 2nd half of the season (one game per week) will give him and his coaching staff more time to work on improving this squad – I like what I’m hearing.

Always the mark of a very good team – strikers scoring and a good spread of goals coming from all around the team (even full backs).

Long way to go to compare today’s Bhoys with the Lions but there’s much to remind me of their days when I witness free-flowing/ scoring displays like today.

Well done to the Team today – let’s make it a Treble winning 50th Anniversary.

    H!H!

  2. Wonderful Celtic, relentless, make chances miss chances score plenty, top class attitude, the manager is the real deal, no messing with him, strict, fair, enjoys his team playing well and improving, he is a class act.

  4. On way home from game.

Really good today I thought. Broony and Dedryk pretty much flawless and but for one fluff in front of goal so was James F. Sinclair a nightmare to play against and the rest just fit this team. Their winger actually gave Kieran a hard game in second half but he is something very special that bhoy.

ICT were poor and just could not handle us. Lucky to finish with 11 players I don’t think they’ll be the last team we destroy this season. Hell this month.

Best to last though was Widdy Dembele whose all round performance was IMO the best by a Celtic forward since Mr Larsson. We have had some excellent strikers post-Henrik but today I thought Moussa looked the complete package. What a prospect.

  5. GERRYFAETHEBRIG…an they’re both below the wife an weans

See fixed that for u mate, Nae bother. HH

  6. Expected nothing less than thuggery from ICT. Foran must have been reading John Hughes comments during the week about having a go, but pushing that many bodies high up the pitch was never going to end well for them. Told the big guy beside me after a few minutes you could sense Forrest was in the mood, being left one on one in that space, no wonder, great performance from him! Mouusa was sensational and the scary thing is it was effortless. As for Craig Gordon, quite honestly he would have got more action on the Chelsea bench. Referee Clancy was poor but no surprises there. The only disappointment for me was the size of the crowd.

30 matches unbeaten, most won, to nil. Total class all over the pitch with an abundance of talent in reserve. I’ve never seen it so good!

Thanks for the kind words. Been lurking rather than participating- got fed up reading the bickering, grand standing and frankly Hunnish posts of some contributors in the past week.

Hope the wee yin is looking for to her First Holy Communion, a memorable day in the life of those of the Catholic persuasion and parents, whether Catholic or not, whose child is brought up in that faith. Hope it is a brilliant day for all family and friends. HH

    Agreed….

  10. Just back from a frozen Celtic Park and I thought that was a shocking performance by Celtic. We might as well pack it in if that’s the way we are goint to treat the game in Scotland.

The first goal set the tone. Just a week after disrespectfully performing a Rabona in our opponents penalty area, what does Lustig do? He plucks a difficult ball out of the air and nutmegs the keeper. Owen Fon Williams would have every right to stick the nut on him for such disrespect.

Then we have Dembele. His first goal was a good save by the keeper- having made the save, the keeper felt no need to prevent it from crossing the line. Any decent team would have refused to profit from such an oversight by claiming the goal. Then, Dembele gets on the end of a great tackle by an ICT defender and, instead of returning the ball to the successful tackler, like any person with a sense of fair play, he sneakily slots it home. And his final goal- well it was headed- what’s that about? He’s a £50m player FFS, if you want to head goals, you could sign haddies like Andy Carroll or Joe Garner.

Then, there’s James “no end product” Forrest sneaking in with 3 assists. At best, that’s false advertising. At worst, it is a shameless betrayal of the Corinthian spirit in the most underhand, Fenian-y way imaginable. If James intended to play like that he should have been talked out of it by his team-mates or, if not, allowed the ICT defenders to shamelessly hack him without the threat of cards being issued.

Kieran Tierney betrayed his role as a non-scoring defender, inheritor of the Danny McGrain mantle, when he scored. How many times did we see the great Danny waltz through defences only to take care to aim the ball narrowly past the post. That’s why Danny is revered as a gentleman of the game and why the classless Tierney will never hit those heights.

And the last, most humiliating blow of all. After accidentally scoring the 6th goal with a clearance from somewhere near the half way line, our Captain has the cheek to perform the Broony right in the faces of the team that had merely been kicking lumps oota him in the time honoured Scottish tradition.

If Brendan Rodgers does not fine the whole team, place them all on the transfer list , and appeal for ICT to take Celtic’s place in the quarter final draw, then it’s all over for this bear.

    No class, Celtic.

    No class at all.

I almost feel like voiding the joker I played in the Goals For Shay competition, that’s how bad I feel.

Stop that lurking nonsense then the blog goes in a different direction, my good lady is looking forward to the 14th of May as much if not more than me (I still question my own faith :-)

Barney67, a different kind of love…… Celtic don’t pay the bills, the Mrs does :-)

Anyway, I know some don’t like to listen but SSSB are having a phone-in special all day, it’s comedy gold

SSSB = Sevco Suoer Score Board

  12. Bloomin’ marvellous bhoys. What a great day, Celtic emphatically pump ICT 6-0 and the Sevcoites just keep us chuckling away at their bizarre antics.

  13. Only real negative from today’s performance is that it increases the likelihood of big Moussa’s stay being an all too short one. Best striker since Henke? Yup i think so.

  14. Masterclass, wow.

Interesting to see how good we REALLY are though. I’m sure we will make a much better fist of thing in next seasons CL.

KINGLuBO, chuffed to the knicker line

  15. Great performance all round – some cracking passes from Bitton today

Norwich 3-0 Notts (we need Warbo and weir) Forest

  16. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Celtic were superb.

Anyone on here in contact with Chris Sutton?

If so, send him the 90 minutes to pass on to his BT Sport colleague, Howard Webb and ask for an evaluation of Clancy’s performance.

    Hail hail

  17. Oglach

I think he will stay at least another year, would be great if we managed to keep him until he is 24-25 then move if he wants to Real Madrid or whatever, he is happy so its not out the question provided we get him to extend his deal and pay him as much as we can then why not. BR is building something very special the players know it the supporters know so enjoy, Europe will be where we are stretched, this year was just a bit early but some very good performances.CL next year decent group lets see.

  18. VFR800 is now a Monster 821 on

Grandparent and taxi duties prevented me from attending Paradise today. Saw the first half then listened to the second half on Radio Shortbread; like the co-commentator with them today – talked sense.

Just about to settle down and watch the second half to see just how good we we’re.

Over and above that 6 goals with a joker on Goals for Shay; I’m happy wi’ that!

  19. What is the Stars on

The only real negative from todays game was the fact that we are now running out of opportunities to start a sentence with “the only real negative”

That ..and the fact that we are running out of superlatives to describe the performances

That and the fact that Moussa keeps getting better making him more diifficult to hold on to

That and the fact that the opposition are allowed to kick with impunity

Apart from that there were hardly any negatives other than the fact that The only real negative from todays game was the fact that we are now running out of opportunities to start a sentence with “the only real negative”

  20. saw the end of an interview with Chris Sutton- Weir was a disgrace because he should have been advising Warbs on the Glasgow dynamic and warbs had lost the plot with random comments

  21. Player ratings

    Gordon 7

Little to do, but what he did do was excellent, there will always be the odd slack pass given how Rodgers has instructed him to play, but he has improved immensely with his use of the ball.

    Lustig 7

If you are looking at how to improve the 1st 11, I’ve felt for some time that right wing, centre half and right back would be the obvious positions. I don’t care if he is a slight weakness, I love the guy. I feel our right side is not as potent as our left, but you have to factor in that our 4-2-3-1 often becomes 3-4-3 when in possession and Lustig has to curtail his attacking.

    Tierney 7

Would have been a 6 save for his goal, not as involved going forward as normal, and didn’t have much to do defensively.

    Boyata 7

Solid, aggressive when need be, moved the ball well. Staking a claim for a place, though I’d like to see how he performs when we are under the cosh before jumping on the bandwagon.

    Sviatchencko 5

Good defender, but on the ball I’m not sure he is what Rodgers is looking for. I’ve noticed all season that when he has 20 yards of space, rather than step up and draw a defender towards him, he’ll play a pass to a team mate who is immediately under pressure. Think his place is under threat.

    Bitton 8

Played really well the last few weeks, though I feel it has come at the expense of Brown who isn’t as effective playing forward. Terrific pass for the goal, and grew in confidence after that.

    Brown 7

Like Tierney gets a extra point for his goal, didn’t have a huge impact on the game but buzzed around into tackles and drives the team mentality.

    Henderson 5

Not his best game, got into good positions but wasteful on the ball. Hope he gets a run of games but didn’t take his opportunity today.

    Sinclair 6

A touch greedy at times, didn’t really find the space to impact the game as he normally does. Still always a threat and creates space for those around them.

    Forrest 9

Terrific. Should have scored but 2 of his 3 assists were sublime

    Dembele 10

Thought he looked well up for it early but the midfield wasn’t quite able to get him involved. Holds the ball up so well, superb touch and link up play which helped create his 1st and 3rd goals. When Van Dijk was here I thought he was the only player I’ve seen in Scotland(obviously besides Larsson) that could go onto play at the highest level. Dembele isn’t there yet, but at 20, he has all the tools.

Can’t wait to see a fully fit 11 on the park.

  22. The main thing the has impressed me this season is that we seem to have a lot more space to move/pass into. Whether it’s improved fitness/tactics/management or all of the above it does make for great viewing.

  23. Now home.

SFTB . You are Neganon3! I expected better from you :-))

I think I have not enjoyed watching Celtic play as much since I was a child ( this is my 50th season) . I realised that as the team was taking its bow at the end I was clapping and smiling like I did when I was watching Jinky, Bobby M, Wispy and the rest all those years ago. Is it undignified for a man of my age to do the Broony?

    Long may this continue.

    Jimbo67

  24. Gene I also think that’s why we are scoring more late goals. When we passed it across the back 4 for minutes at a time the opposition could stand and watch. When we probe and move forward and back the op players are constantly having to chase and move.
