WHATEVER HAPPENED TO…OLI BURKE?

OLI BURKE came to Celtic with a big reputation when he signed a short-term loan deal from West Brom in January 2019.

The 26-year-old Scotland international striker, who had been involved in £28million worth of transfer deals involving Nottingham Forest, RB Leipzig and the Hawthorns outfit, flopped in the east end of Glasgow.

Burke was one of Brendan Rodgers’ last recruits for the Hoops before he quit for Leicester City a month later. Neil Lennon wasn’t impressed with the return of four goals in 19 appearances and didn’t follow up the club’s initial interest.

OLI-WHOOPS…Celtic’s on-loan frontman Oli Burke is about to be congratulated by Kristoffer Ajer after scoring his first goal for the club in a 4-0 win over St Mirren at Parkhead in January 2019.

The unpredictable forward was overlooked for the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts with teenager Karamoko Dembele getting his place among the substitutes. Burke missed the 2-1 win with Odsonne Edouard netting a double.

A spell at Sheffield United followed before the player returned for a second spell in Germany at Werder Bremen.

After only two goals in 15 games for the Bundesliga club, he was loaned back to Millwall in January this year where he has again failed to live up to his earlier promise.

Burke was on the move again in the summer when he agreed a season-long deal at Birmingham City.
