ANGRY BOSS ORDERS LEAK PROBE

SEETHING Neil Lennon has promised an internal probe after Celtic’s team news was leaked well before yesterday’s 2-0 flop.

A report on the internet blew the news that teenager Stephen Welsh would be making only his second appearance for the Hoops as they prepared for the visit of Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox outfit.

Lennon had been keeping his line-up a closely-guarded secret and made no mention of the fact the inexperienced would play after his solitary outing last season when he played in the 4-1 win at Hamilton Accies.

The Hoops gaffer also did not disclose the fact Odsonne Edouard and Christopher Jullien wouldn’t be in his squad for the crucial encounter.

The leaked team news also correctly called Patryk Klimala leading the attack with Leigh Griffiths failing to start the game.

CQN received news of the starting eleven early yesterday morning, but, as ever, refused to go public with the knowledge. We acknowledge such critical information coming out at such a sensitive time will hardly do any favours to the team and will offer rivals useful knowledge into how the manager is setting up his team.

We published the team and substitutes once it had been officially announced by the club.

The Lennoxtown mole has enraged Lennon before and the irate boss left radio listeners in no doubt when asked how he felt about it by a journalist.

He said: “You’ve no idea. I don’t want to comment, but we’ll deal with it.”

It’s not the first time Celtic’s line-up has been released well ahead of kick-off. In December 2018, a team was leaked that alerted Steven Gerrard to the fact Kieran Tierney would not be starting a game at Ibrox. The Hoops lost 1-0.

There have been other occasions and Lennon added: “Really not happy. Someone is letting us down.”
