CELTIC DUO TARGETED

CELTIC pair Ben Summers and Ben McPherson are wanted by Championship clubs as the clocks ticks down to the August 31 deadline.

The teenagers are seen as emerging talents at the champions, but there is no likelihood of consistent game-time this season.

Brendan Rodgers appears willing to allow both of the talented duo to go on year-long loans and that has alerted Dunfermline and Queen’s Park, according to reports in the Daily Record.

DEBUT BHOY…a beaming Ben Summers replaces Sead Haksabanovic for his first appearance in Celtic’s 4-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in April.

The Fifers are keen on Scotland Under-21 attacking midfielder Summers who made his first top-side appearance as a late substitute for Sead Haksabanovic in the 4-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in April.

And the Hampden club are weighing up a move for his team-mate McPherson who came on a second-half substitute for Stephen Welsh in the 1-1 draw with Wolves at the Aviva Stadium 10 days ago.

East End Park boss James McPake is hoping to have a temporary transfer for Summers in place by the weekend where they are due to play Dundee United at Tannadice.

TEENAGE KICKS…youngster Ben McPherson is wanted by Queen’s Park.

Last season, Dunfermline took defender Ewan Otoo on loan from the champions and the switch was made permanent in the summer.

McPherson, who can play right-back and centre-half, is poised for the move across Glasgow after earlier being on the wanted list of Austrian side Admira Wacker.

The 19-year-old utility defender could even be in place for the Hampden team’s match against Arbroath on Saturday.
