Dunfermline statement on Rangers

1133

This evening’s announcement by Dunfermline Athletic that they no longer expect to receive timely receipt of the £80,000 ticket money Rangers FC PLC (in administration) owe them will heighten concerns at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who have a stock at tickets with Rangers right now, money for which will be received by the administrators in advance of their game later this month.

The administrators have yet to decide whether to retain high-earning players or make more funds available for existing creditors, and future creditors, like Inverness.  As ticket sales for the Inverness game are on-going, the administrators will need to be aware of their legal position before retaining a premium squad.

One final push (this week) for the Vanessa Riddle Appeal. We have a Celtic top signed by the first team squad available to auction on eBay. You can bid on the auction and help send Vanessa for the treatment she needs by clicking here. Thanks to Penfold for the donation and to Taggsybhoy for organising (yet again).

I don’t think it is just politicking with Salmond.

At the end of the day the huns ARE a Scottish institution.

The fact that they are Donald Ducked does affect his sense of Scottish dignity, especially coming after RBS and BoS.

    He’s hurting.

if Dungwall is the acceptable face of permarage , then I will be delighted.

    hamiltontim,

Cheers for the mention, as a fellow dwelelr in darkest Lanarkshire we probably experience similar “moments” , I also coach football at a youth level and see much of what you have experienced. Keep up the good work.

True, nearly on a par with La Liga and forget the hype and tripe about the EPL.

Arsenal are a shadow of the side they were.

  5. Anyone know what money, if any Rangers are due to receive from SPL etc between now and end of season? Would these funds then go to the likes of Dunfermline, ICT etc before the tax dodgers get their slice?

  7. Evening cqners, I too loved Sandman’s post 20:13 – passionate and from the heart….from many hearts I’m sure. One thing I haven’t heard during recent talk is the reassurance that if a newco is formed from liquidation, having wiped the tax debt, and playing in blue, calling themselves ‘Rangers something’, playing at Ibrox, that hmrc would pursue this newco. Glib talk on phone ins, with the half-brain advice from the likes of Nevin that this is good business sense, flies in the face of the talk earlier in the week.

…..if they return as Rangers 2012, having again evaded tax, will Hector chase them?

  8. The Honest….

My sentiments exactly but surely their own supporters have got to address this.

BTW if all the clubs died that I actually wanted to die, we’d be playing St Roch’s or St Anthony’s every week :-))

I heard Andy Gray confidently predict success for Arsenal earlier this week.

Andy Gray! Andy fecking Gray ! what credibility does he have? If he told me the Pope was Catholic , I would phone the Vatican for confirmation.

  10. SFTB,

Sorry if it wasn’t clear, I did say it must be adjusted for inflation. There are a few ways that could be calculated, but I’d contend that if they are forced to pay it back slowly, even a period of inflation, for which their repayment plan took absolutely no account, wouldn’t provide them with much alleviation – it’s a lot of money, and putting ego aside, football clubs, even the biggest of them don’t make much money, in profit or turnover… at least not relative to, say, your local supermarket, where the turnover, of one store, will be many multiples of that which Rangers could hope for. It would be a test just to keep them going for a number of years, and require luck or great will to take them the next step quickly.

As you say, though, what’s to say they would honour such a plan. There’s no evidence that they have anyone with that degree of respect or credibility associated to them that creditors could proceed with confidence.

The accountancy firm that deals with paying the wages out at Rangers must surely come under investigation. They are “trusted” to get the money in and pay the wages right? They are supposed to deduct the tax due and the employees N I contributions and send them to HMRC and the pension people in Newcastle. This clearly hasnt been done so someone is breaking the law and arrests should be made.

I became self employed years ago and decided to put money in a tin and pay my N I cons every year. 2 months later I got a visit from someone from the DSS on a Saturday afternoon wanting to know why I wasnt paying my NI stamp. Total amount due ? About £13.00.

9 mill NI cons not paid? Sumdaes at the Jimmy!!

  13. Paul,

    Another clever, pointed article.

Something odd is going on at Ibrox ( no laughing at the back).

In any other administration, high earning staff are laid off on day 1.

Costs are slashed on day 1.

Today they simply ‘postponed’ a party. Wouldn’t you have looked at ‘top brass’

like Smudger and asked what value to you bring to the People?

    Very strange.

  14. huns fc- love the queen but wont pay her on

After the gobsh*te salmond has been giving the last couple of days he has now lost my vote, I was all for Independence but no more, Imagine this had happened here If we were Independent, It would of been swept under the carpet and we would be ethnically cleansed to make sure It was.

Also lets not be too hasty towards Dunfermline, fair enough It’s £80k but you’ve got imagine the profit they actually made selling pies to they fat bastards.

Correct, there is a bill there but as its been appealed, it doesn’t have to be declared as a liability yet.

Paul 67 said earlier that if the huns get liquidised, the debts die too. What financial penalties, if any would Newco Utd face?

  19. I am reminded of the Godfather Part Two – “Senator, you can have my answer now. My offer to you is this – nothing, not even the price of the gaming license, which I would appreciate if you put it up personally. ”

    Nothing, huns just nothing.

Any lurkers, I repeat, Whyte stays at One Devonshire Gardens.

  20. If the Huns last until March (which I think they might, well until the big tax case), anyway if the next Glasgow derby goes ahead, I hope PL refuses to pay them upfront for tickets, we should pay for them on the last day possible – there was a hint they would request payment upfront.

WE DON’T NEED NO STINKIN’ RANGERS

Well, this time they’ve really gone for it.

They’ve built their gallows, and built them high.

Well done to all Billy Boys involved in this entire process.

We salute your commitment to dying, your rivals dying, being Rangers until you die, not surrendering for 99 per cent of your history until very recently – and then dying if you do.

Gotta hand it to them, they do it well.
